The reason I have so much to say about India is because I’ve lived in its capital city New Delhi for more than three years and I have travelled to many parts of the Northern region.

I have visited Agra for more than five times both as a tourist and as a wedding guest. I have so many friends from Agra and I do visit the place often when I was in India.

Before visiting Agra, do make sure you have access to transportation because the people hardly speak English.

About things to do in Agra, I think the major tourist attraction is the Taj Mahal which is usually crowded on weekends, so I would advise to go on weekdays. Yes, it worth seeing because it’s one of the seven wonders of the world but do make sure to go with someone that speaks Hindi for safety reasons.

The distance from New Delhi to Taj Mahal is about three hours by drive and the roads are pretty good.

I’m open to answer more questions if you are curious about the lifestyle of people in Agra.

Agra’s main attraction is the Taj Mahal and it does not disappoint. My group arrived shortly after sunrise, so there was no line to enter. The grounds were by no means empty, but this is the best time to visit as it gets substantially more crowded as the day goes on. Be sure to buy the ticket that includes entry inside the mausoleum (photos aren’t allowed inside).

The Taj Mahal is breathtaking from all angles. I found myself stopping every few feet to take another photo. Most of the group dressed in saris for our visit, which made the experience even more special. We spotted a few tourists and locals taking photos of us. With its blindingly white marble, the Taj Mahal certainly deserves its status as one of the 7 Wonders of the World. It was the highlight of my trip to India.

If you’re staying in Jaipur, I would not recommend visiting Agra in one day. The drive is about 5-6 hours one way. If you can, spend the night so you can add in a visit to the Agra Fort.

My hotel was located in New Delhi so it was about a 3 hour drive on the way to Agra and about the same time to come back. We used an express toll highway (less traffic). The driver is a friend of my work colleagues. A very kind and humble person. He drove us around and from New Delhi all the way to the Taj Mahal for a reasonable price. There are also great tour companies that offer Delhi, Agra, Jaipur tours …a little more pricy but totally worth it.

The Taj Mahal surrounded by 2 Mosques in a concept of symmetry is very impressive. Each monument has its own history. Every single details has a meaning. The architecture is unique. From outside to inside everything was meticulously done. A beautiful experience to witness and capture with your eyes. The best time to go is Now (March) it’s less crowded, no fog and the weather is perfect.
Side note: The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.

Agra is not a really nice city, though it has some wonderful attractions beyond the Taj Mahal. The most recommendable for me is the Baby Taj. Its located on the opposite side of the river, not so far from Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. The architecture is amazing and the peace is lovely. You will enjoy spending time by yourself or with your friends. Beyond the historical side is a perfect spot for pictures, since there are not many people around. Worth it

Eat, Love, and Pray in India!
This is a country rich with tradition, customs, and colors. India has one of world’s largest population of people and is known for the famous spice of “Curry” which can be seen and smelled in vegan, meat, or desert dishes everywhere! This was great girl’s trip getaway to the see the three cities (Delhi, Agar, and Jaipur) which are called the Golden Triangle cities in India. I’m very familiar to the India culture from my West Indian roots, love of curry, love of roti, love of Sari clothing, and Bollywood movies.

This definitely is a trip to plan in advance with budget and advice from folks who that traveled there before. India is a long and expensive straight flight from New York with Air India Airways. You will need a visa for entry into India so plan accordingly. There are plenty of hotel accommodations but I recommend staying in common hotel chain, luxury, or popular tourist boutique hotels in India. Navigating around India is pretty reasonable in Tuk-Tuk bike rides, no Uber cause the traffic is so much. Believe me! You will never complain of traffic every again after seeing everything moving in India. But enjoy some spices, Bollywood movies, and catch a wedding if you can!
Taj Mahal in Agar. To see one of the Wonders of the world was an expression of a man’s love to a women was the most magical and beautiful epitome I’ve ever seen. It heals my heart ten times over to see this amazing abundance of love. I traveled far and long to see the magnificent Taj Mahal and it was totally worth it

Agra was a very interesting area! Interestingly it was not what I assumed, being that it is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. I would suggest to bring plenty of snacks and sanitary items. When arriving to India I stayed in New Delhi which is like two hours away from Agra. I was quiet enlighten about their culture! 1st shock was cows walk in the road FREELY! What I didn’t’ know is that Herd is apart of their religion so therefore they are sacred, so don’t go to McDonald’s looking for a beef burger because you Won’t GET IT! lol Moreover while walking to the Tahj Mahal there were also lots of stray dogs and monkeys to do beware. I was really nervous not because of all the ladies and kids starring at me but rather the monkeys freely walking around everywhere! Secondly, if you are any type of Melanin please be prepared to be STARED at! While touring Agra and one of the 7 wonders of the world, many women stared and took lots of photos! Overall I must say my tour guide was very knowledgeable and protective of me and my company and If I would every go again, I would indeed book him and recommend him!! Please don’t hesitate to ask or chat with me if you have any question on my IG @traveling_tenderoni

Agra is the city of love. You’re witnessing first hand the extents a man can do for his wife. This is the city that’s home to the Taj Mahal which is actually a tomb for the Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan’s Wife. There is so much history in the most famous city in India. It gets very hot so start your day by visiting the Red Fort. Here is the homestead of the royal family and where the story begins to be told of how the royals family of the time lived. The architecture was made with such precise detail. The tour is long and it’s best to have a bottle of water with you because India is very, very humid. After the Red Fort, go to the Taj Mahal. It is best to go there earlier in the morning because the place is swarming with tourists so getting a perfect shot is sometimes very hard. But it is so beautiful and so grand. You have to walk up into the tomb with feet covers or barefoot so you don’t ruin the marble . There are 2 mosques built next to the Taj. Mahal is actually the name of his beloved wife. The mausoleum was built with so much love and devotion. After history, there’s nothing much to do in Agra. The hotels are mostly 4 and 5 star hotels which won’t exactly be cheap if you’re a budget traveler but if you want to visit a wonder of the world, it’s worth it.

There isn’t too much to do in Agra except go to the Taj Mahal. I took a 8 hour car ride (rt) from Dehli to Agra in 120 degree heat JUST to see the Taj Mahal and it was worth it. That place is so beautiful. If it wasnt so hot I would have just sad down a while to take it all in.

But it was quite the adventure to get there!! I had this whole trip to the Taj Mahal planned out. I was going to wear this beautiful Sari, traditional Indian jewelry, and take some amazing pictures that would be #instagramworthy. But British Airways had other plans. They left my bag in Chicago so it never actually made it to India. ??‍♀️ (and yes I made the #basicaf traveler mistake of not having any real clothes or toiletries with me in a carry on. I know I know. I’m not perfect. Lol)

But here I am, on zero sleep, after 20hrs of flying, a 4 hr car trip, in 120 degree heat wearing basically the same clothes I wore the day before in front of one of the 7 Wonders of the World. And I couldn’t be happier. I am so grateful to have been able to make it here, despite the temporary setbacks. ✅ Bucket list.

#2018 is all about living and letting go. Keep pushing forward, regardless of the obstacle. It doesn’t matter how you get there or how you look, just make it happen.

Things to know: make sure your driver sticks around while your are touring.
    2) Don’t go in the summer. Its too hot.
    3) There’s only a masoleum inside. You can go in, but there isnt much to see besides replica tombs. The beauty is all outside
    4) Hire a local guide to give you the history
    5) Dont bother paying for the professional pics from the vendors. Your cell pics will suffice

Our family of four flew from San Francisco into Gangzhou China, then to New Delhi India on China Southern Air for $660US each roundtrip. We stayed 8 nights there and then hired a driver to drive us 3 hours to Agra for $80US. Our reservations were at the Four Points by Sheraton where we stayed another 8 nights. We reserved 2 rooms. We met up with a group of 50 people there from all over the world. So the hotel gave us a group rate for the rooms and meals included ahead of time. We paid roughly $2500US for everything. Family of four 2 rooms and 3 buffet styled meals included. We had an amazing view of the Taj from the rooftop swimming pool. We paid around $25US to see the Fort and the Taj Mahal which also was arranged ahead of time. The Agra Fort and Taj are the main attractions but this is also an amazing place to rub shoulders with the locals. That’s what it’s all about, learning the culture and enjoying the people.

At Agra, the only best thing i did was to visit and contemplate the Taj Mahal. It’s a place to contemplate for a long time !
