Athens is a dope city so much to offer for any traveler. Truly a choose your own adventure vide. You can relax in luxurious, hilltop hotels or stay in the budget-friendly city center.

Depending on the time of year you visit, the flight to Athens (from the US) can be expensive – I paid $1000 for peak summer – but once you’re there everything is very affordable. Grab a gyro for 3, beers for 2-4, or tour the museums for 20 or less. When you hit the beach at Costas del Sol/Bolivar Beach Club and rent a cabana for 2 people for around 30.

Getting around: don’t be afraid of the public transit system. It’s cheap and effective with fares around 1-2 to get you to most places but if you want a ride download FREENOW and call a taxi to most places around the city for 15-20

There is so much to see in this walkable city that you can spend days without breaking the bank.

I had a great two days in Athens. Stayed in a what we consider an Airbnb but it’s a boutique hotel called the Lop. Absolutely no partying or extra people allowed. It is walking distance to several local restaurants. A fan favorite was Kyp
APIETOE. The following night I ate at EYIKENTPOTIKO which was extremely local and very affordable. Note traditional Greek salad actually doesn’t have lettuce. For nightlife go to Bolivar, which is located on the beach. I was there on a Monday night and there was still lots of ppl & a great DJ. Cover was 12 euros and included your 1st drink. Don’t forget your Euros or a Cc with no foreign transaction fees.

We actually went on a 7 day cruise through the Greek Islands and then spent 2 days at the Atheneum Intercontinental in Athens. The Greek islands were amazing and although there were lots of similarities, they were different enough to make it worthwhile visiting each one. The stories of Greek mythology and the history were interesting. We hiked up a volcano, visited small villages, monasteries, markets, had delicious food and even tried Ouzo which is an aperitif that tastes like black jelly beans. Most people spoke English and were very helpful. By the time we got to Athens, we didn’t want to do much as far as tours and historical places so we just rode the HOHO bus to see the sights and on day two took the subway to the mall which was very relaxing up at the rooftop garden. We met great people and had a wonderful time. Also, on the islands, most places accepted US dollars. We just used our credit card everywhere because it didn’t charge fees.

I was only in Athens for the day part of a cruise tour. We did a bus tour. We got to see the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Ancient Agora of Athens, Panathenaic Stadium, observe the changing of the guard, see some of the sites the Olympics to place, visited the Placa and bought souvenirs, of course had authentic Greek food, and tried Orzo which is their liquor that tastes like licorice (I didn’t care for it). We actually got lost leaving the Acropolis, but easily found our way to the Placa and got back with our group in time to board the ship. I’m sure there is much more to do and see, but we only had about 6 hours to get around, so we focused on the highlights. Tons of architecture and history, but for the short time we were there we saw the highlights.

This city is great for history, but put nicely, locals ensure you are definitely aware of your blackness. They are not always outwardly rude, but I would bet money you will experience several micro-agressions. It’s not a bad place to visit but I wouldn’t recommend if you are someone who is easily offended or even slightly confrontational.

Athens is full of history. As a major city of the Ancient Greek civilization, you’ll find historical sites all over the city. From the Acropolis, to the Temple of Zeus, and the Panathenaic Stadium, there are really sites wherever you look. There are also some really nice museums such as the Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum. If you are really interested in history like I am, and want some really in depth info, both of those are great. Lastly the Koukaki neighborhood is really nice and affordable, and the locals are very warm. I have been to Athens twice and look forward to going again!

Athens is the Capital of Greece. Like most people around the world I came to experience the ancient Creek civilization and the great landmarks like the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Amazing sites. The Acropolis and the Parthenon dominate the Skyline of Athens. The people were friendly. The food is amazing. Explore the Plata area with his winding streets around the Acropolis. It has small shops, restaurants and selection of Athenian crafts and local arts.

Athens IS history! Get up early, map out your walking plan, and go! We hit all of our destinations in one day with time to spare. Athens is full of history and adventure for anyone. I’m not the biggest history buff, but I remained interested at each cite. This included: Theatre of Dionysus, Parthenon, Library of Hadrian, and so many more. There is a cool city, just below the Acropolis, called Plaka which is connected to the Monastiraki Market. BEST FLEA MARKET EVER. It’s a widespread supermarket that literally has some of everything. We racked up on gifts, bags, food, custom gear, natural beauty products, and more. Plus, it all was so cheap!

Greece is definitely the spot to be if you love history. You can visit the Temple of Hephaestus, Erechtheion, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and so many other sites. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and wear sunblock with a high SPF because that sun out there is no joke. Plus, there’s so much to see that you’ll be walking a lot.

Athens Greece has a very historic, city type of feel the moment you arrive. If you want close access to all the historical places I would suggest staying at the Royal Olympic Hotel. The location is excellent, very close to the main tourist attractions as well as rooftop restaurants. The rooms are nothing special but are clean and there is a very nice restaurant/rooftop bar with views of the Acropolis.

I am only writing this review in the Athen section because to my surprise, Rhodes, Greece was not an option. Besides the popular Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini, I truly believe that Rhodes deserves to be in top consideration for Europe destinations. Rhodes has a combination of history, beach life and scenery, and nightlife. I recently went on a 8 day 7 night stay at the all-inclusive 5 star Mitsis Grand Hotel which sits directly across from the Aegean Sea. Like, you literally exit the hotel, walk across the street and the ocean is right there. I being that it was October and the end of their work season, the weather was incredible – 75 degrees with about 15-20mph winds. The sun was never overbearing at any moment and the popular tourists/local sites such as Old Town was never too crowded. My lady and I were able to explore old town Rhodes which carries so much Greek history, such as the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes (look it up on wiki, really dope!). Not to mention, Old Town was only about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. We were right in the midst of local markets and restaurants so it wasn’t difficult to get submerged into the cultural atmosphere. Everyone was friendly for the most part (Rhodes Greece only has an astonishing .4% crime rate!) and no matter the time of night, my lady and I felt comfortable and safe going out for a late night stroll whether on the street or by the water. (We didn’t go out TOO late because the black in me can never be TOO cautious lol!). Anyway, being that I booked the trip through a travel club called DreamTrips, we had a couple excursions included, which were an all day tour of Lindos, and on another day, and all day tour of Symi island. Both of these tours were incredible. We visited the Acropolis of Rhodes in which we got to climb up the citadel and visit different temples including the Temple of Athena, daughter of Zeus. I’m not much of a history buff, but we had a very enthusiastic English speaking guide that gave us a wealth of information about Lindos’ History and I was also able to enjoy some breathtaking views and capture incredible photos (you know you gotta stunt for the gram lol!). Symi Island was absolutely amazing as we saw the incredible homes and no statues decked in pastel colors and built into the mountains. We learned about the history and importance of sea sponges and how at one time they were literally considered to be worth the same value of gold at a certain time in history. Again, I’m not much of a history buff, but some of the things that I learned were amazing. And we actually got to take a dip in the bay at Symi island, enjoy a 3 course meal, and of course take wonderful photos. I was a pretty happy camper.

Mitsis Grand Hotel is definitely a recommendation for your hotel stay as I mentioned it’s a 5 star all-inclusive hotel. The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE, every single day without fail (except one night when they had their seafood night. I guess I just wasn’t in the mood.) But the staff is very friendly and certainly exceedingly generous considering they upgraded my lady and I from a basic campus balcony view to an ocean view for free (we just know how to make people feel good lol). Every night there is entertainment, from dancers to singers to instrumentalists and more. The staff was very personable and it was clear to see they enjoyed their jobs. On the very last day, many of the staff were making it a point to have Ilya stop by for goodbye and see you later hugs and kisses and waves.

The overall experience in Rhodes, Greece and Mitsis Grand Hotel was so superb that my lady and I have officially decided that we will make it a yearly travel destination for ourselves.

So needless to say at this point, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I hope this is helpful to anyone who reads this who has either never traveled to Greece or has never been to Rhodes, Greece in particular. God bless!

    – Monty (@montylans on IG)

P.S. – Rhodes, Greece deserves its own review category!

    Hi,

I was only in Athens for a day but in terms of traveling while black. I would say that everyone is very friendly and helpful; down to our Airbnb. I spent most of my day walking around and eating. Our Airbnb was located on Leof Andrea Siggrou which was walking distance to a lot of things and surrounded by a lot of food. From the airport, we attempted to take the bus but it was awfully hard being that we had huge suitcases. We were on the first bus for about 30 minutes and had to transfer to another bus to get to our hotel. When the other bus came it was packed with people so we decided to take an uber to our hotel. The bus ticket from the airport was around $6.

Who would’ve known that waffles and crepes were a huge part of Greek cuisine.
I stayed in Athens for 9 days and ate out EVERYDAY! The meals were inexpensive (and my AirBnB kitchen was closet size).
Once you’ve gotten past the waffles and crepes, there are other wonderful places to eat.
My favorite spot was a place called Grexico which was the Greek version of Chipotle. The woman who owns the restaurant studied in NY. While she was in school, she worked at a Chipotle. She learned the ins and outs and started Grexico.
For breakfast, stop at any of the side restaurants for a cup of yogurt, fruit, and honey.
If you have a chance to get out of central Athens you’ll find restaurants that serve the same foods at the tourist’s spots but the flavor is different. Central Athens definitely caters to a European pallet.

After my hop from Italy to Greece, it was my opinion that Greek food rivals Italian purely based off of the phenomenal seafood I tasted while in Athens. A couple great places I discovered through research were Skoubri Restaurant located downtown and GH Attikos which also happens to face the Acropolis, making it the perfect place to stop before exploring the ancient ruins! Both restaurants are affordable with a casual dining atmosphere. I recommend the squid at Skoubri and the feta with homemade fig jam from Attikos.

Athens is rich in history. There are lots of museums and monuments to see. Athens is a great recommendation local for a history buff. The people are friendly enough. There are certain blocks in the city center that looks a bit unsafe but if you are going with a group of people, you should be fine, or just be alert like you should be when traveling alone. The food is good and reasonably priced. Look out for the street gawker trying to sell you stuff, some a pick-pocketers. The night life was a bit dull for me but I was there during the week day. Athens is not too crowded, so I liked that about it.
Traveling while black: Overall it’s safe, you would get stares that may be a bit uncomfortable but that’s about it.

There was a lot to do in Athens. I stayed for 2 days and I explored the city all by myself. I even met a few locals and tourist while there. I also did a walking tour and learned more about the history of Athens. The food was also a plus. I would just say be aware of your surroundings at all times because a guy began following me twice as I was exploring the streets.

We stayed at the NJV Athens Plaza very upscale, the people are moderately friendly. But The history here is what stands out the most, you can get tours and learn an abundance of their cultural backgrounds and history. I would recommend if you’re looking to learn more about Greece!

I’ve never felt so unsafe as a black man in any other country in comparison to Greece. I was literally followed in the streets. I was also approached as a drug dealer. I would not recommend Athens to anyone.

If you are a keen cultural traveller then Athens is the city for you! The sheer number of historical moments could keep you busy for the entire time of the trip. Food is amazing, and it is a great base to then travel to some of the Greek islands (I did a day trip to Santorini).

There are black people in Greece, however majority tend to be male street sellers so you as a tourist may stand out a fair bit, but I had no issues or didn’t feel any awkwardness personally. In terms of night life, Hip-Hop is actually quite popular out there so you can hit the Gazi area of Athens and catch a vibe, Lohan club is the in-club there atm I frequented a few times.

Athens was awesome in terms of history–visiting the ruins and taking everything in was a wonderful experience–definitely a must do when visiting Greece! I stayed at an Airbnb near the city center, and was close to public transportation (buses and trains), which were pretty reliable. Most of my time in Greece was spent in the isles, so I got to explore Athens for 2 days.

Traveling While Black: though I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Greece, there was A LOT of stares from locals, as if they had never seen brown skin before (especially the children). Not sure if it also had something to do with my cropped platinum blonde hair as well (lol), but it was a bit much at times.

While touring Athens you will have your local food options such as Potato King, or restaurants such a as Misafir. Athens gives you culture with a lot of history ! To see the entire Acropolis including the Ancient Agora and Parthenon it is $30 but definitely worth it. We did an Airbnb which was very affordable. We found a McDonalds which had shrimp burgers and spring rolls ! We enjoyed Athens very much for what it had to offer.

Athens is great place to go if you love history. I highly recommend doing a (free/tip) walking tour to get better insight into the architecture by some of the gracious locals. We really enjoyed stopping to pick up food at local bakeries. Their pastries are amazing (and cheap)! If you’re a coffee lover, I highly suggest trying “fredo espresso/cappuccino”. There’s really nothing else like it.

There are a million things to do in Athens, Greece. You have an array of historical monuments to view. There is also a strip of beautiful beaches just a 30 minute train ride away. The train only cost $5 euros!!! So if you cant afford the greek isles, you can still enjoy Greece’s beautiful beaches.

    Athens Review

3 day weekend in Athens in February. Pros because not many crowds at the historical sites.
I stayed at the Herodian hotel which is 5 minutes walking from the Acropolis Museum. We arrived Saturday morning and booked a sunset tour to Temple of Poseidon through Getaways Greece. Our guide is born and raised and Greece so he had plenty of knowledge about the area. I booked a Half tour through CHAT tours for the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum (entrance tickets included). Great opportunities for learning about Greek history and the archeological sites. The food was amazing and reasonably priced (even at the hotel). For dining options near by I would recommend the following: The Balcony Restaurant and Bar, Yard Bistro and Bar, and MANHMANH. I enjoyed braised lamb, lamb chops, an authentic Greek salad, Greek meatballs, and local desserts.

    Greece is a very historical
And nice country to visit . We stayed in Athens a bit far away from the the city center . Their transport system is so convenient which allows you access to anywhere. You only need to purchase a transit ticket which expires after sometime. Aside our hotel being far away from the city center , we enjoyed the food , the night life and the scenery. It was a great experience

It was good experience visiting Athens. It was a girls trip. We stayed in an airbnb home, very convenient close to the Acropolis monument. Athens is more about history and local culture and the food is amazing but some area are very poor and dangerous. Make sure you keep an eye on your belongings.

I traveled to Athens for my 25th birthday, it was my first solo trip and I loved it! During my stay here I shopped a lot and I also went to the Acropolis, definitely a must see! Once you arrive to the Acropolis, or anywhere around it, there so much to do in the area an you will not be let down. Lots of small shops and boutiques and then you’ll run into big known stores such as, Zara, forever 21, etc.

Be aware of pick pockets in MAJOR TOURISTY AREAS! If you have a bag wear it in the front. It doesn’t matter how many zips, flaps, or buttons the bag has on it. Wear it in front! Watch out for the little kids traveling in groups. They look cute but they are main ones who will pick your pockets. Be careful. I meet a lady who had a backpack purse with zips and flaps. The thief stole her passport and wallet.

I would recommended finding a hotel away from the touristy area (near Acropolis). Most of the tourist areas are considered to be the their version of the ghetto. The hotels look nice pictures but when you get into the room it looks like a hole in the wall motel. At least that was my experience. I would maybe try an Airbnb if I ever return.

    Practical info:
Accommodations – We stayed in an Airbnb on a street called Leoforos Vasileos Konstantinou – which was pretty close to a lot of sites & Fokianos Park, which randomly had events and a marathon the weekend we were there (cool place to hang out). Our trip was in early October, and we paid $350 total for a 3-bedroom for 3 nights – which we split with friends. It was decent, not luxury, but not lacking in any way.

Traveling – we flew in from Naples for pretty cheap. It’s starting to get into the low season around October. Cab ride to our hotel was booked in advance through our Airbnb host – cost 40€ each way for 3 people. I think that’s pretty much the cost even if we had got the cab at the airport. And cabs around the city were CHEAP. I think we spent less than 10€ going different places. Wish I had exact numbers.

Food – I really liked the food in Athens. Spent most of my time trying different kebabs/souvlakis, gyros, and the fried cheese things called Saganaki. Few recommendations: A for Athens cocktail bar (rooftop bar with the most amazing view of the Acropolis!), Tzatziki, and The Greco Project. Really good.

Traveling While Black: wasn’t TOO bad, but there were a few little uncomfortable stares/moments. My friends tried to take a cab at one of those taxi lines (where you go to the first available taxi at the front of the line) and got told by the driver that he was unavailable, when he was clearly empty. I wasn’t with them but from their account it seemed like he was being an ass about it. But the driver behind him took them and even sort of stood up for them saying that what the other driver did wasn’t right & that he should report them (to whatever their agency was..?) – basically little things like that where you can just feel something is a little off. But nothing too crazy.

    21 Hours in Athens,Greece

I traveled to Athens, Greece this past summer (September 2018 ) of course see the Parthenon and visit local Museums. It was my first stop before Mykonos and Santorini. I only had 21 hours before my next flight to Mykonos. I stayed at the amazing Hotel Grande Bretagne, which had the best view of the Acropolis from there roof top restaurant and is in the MIDDLE of everywhere .Depending on your budget, it’s not the cheapest please, but centrally located and worth every dime.

Our hotel provided transportation to and from the Parthenon (tickets not included) . We purchased our Acropolis and Museum tickets online so we didn’t have to wait in line once we arrived at our destination. I believe it was about $30.00 US per person. I was excited about the weather being perfect. However, there is quite a trek to the top lol. I worked up a sweat walking up the hill to the Parthenon. I know we all want to be cute, but unless you know how to walk, wear old shoes. The ground is very dusty. After the Acropolis of Athens, I headed over to the Acropolis Museum, which had really cool statues.

As far as dinning. I ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. I couldn’t tell you the price of everything because my BF paid, but i’m pretty sure it wasn’t budget friendly. Lol

Our hotel literately had everything. Bars, restaurant, nightlife and very good people.

I would totally recommend visiting Athens, Greece along with the GB Roof Restaurant.

You can see more from my trip on my site :)

I agree with a lot of the other reviews about the stares from locals…seemed a little worse coming from the older women…I did find a bar that plays a good mix of music. It’s called Athens Sports Bar on Veikou 3…they play quite a bit of West Coast old school music which I can appreciate being from California…they also showed the NFL games on Monday night. Loved ending my day here

My girlfriend and I traveled to Athens from Santorini which was literally like a 30 minute flight. I had no idea there was so much history in Athens, so visiting was such an eye opener.

There are tons of things to do history related:
Panathenaic Olympic Stadium: It cost like 5 euros and was one of the coolest things to witness in person. Its the first ever olympic stadium that pretty much served as a museum. I’d put this one high on the list. The stadium was made of marble, and a self guided tour option, and an inside with more history facts

Temple of Zeus & Acropolis: You can get a package deal to visit both of these attractions for like 25 euros, there are going to be tons of people so be prepared for large crowds. It reminded me a bit of the Rome Forum in Italy. Definitely worth reading up on before visiting so you know exactly what you’re looking at and why it is so important.

Traveling while black: Athens did not have many black people at all. I saw maybe one other black person the entire time I was there but I still felt safe. There were some people who clearly never laid eyes on a black person before based on some of the stares we got but it should be a well known fact that Greeks are a little rough around the edges to begin with lol. Nonetheless if you engage in conversation you’ll find them to be pleasant enough.

    Food/Drinks:
Drunk Sinatra: A cool bar in Athens, with good music, a good vibe, and great drinks. The cocktails were on the pricier side, but the wines and rose were affordable.

A for Athens Rooftop bar: They serve a really good brunch, very fair priced meals and drinks, and they specialize in coffee. It has one of the best views of Athens and it is close to the Temple of Zeus (about a 15 minute walk). Would recommend calling ahead of time to make sure you get a table with a view.

Athens was very historical. I visited the Panathenaic Olympic Stadium which was pretty dope. I also went to go see the Acropolis of Athens. Learning about the history and seeing the architecture was pretty awesome. The food was very good. Athens is a little over populated with over 5 million people. I recommend people to visit Athens.

We stayed in a hotel in the heart of the city fir 3 nights at a very affordable rate. We got to see all the landmarks and make sure you take your student id with you wveey where to get your student discount. Athens is hands down one of the most affordable places to visit in Europe.

Athens is a great place for the history and culture. You really don’t need to spend more than a day or two there because you could probably get all of the main sites done quickly, as they are all within the same vicinity or so. It’d be good to have other destinations to go to in Greece such as Santorini, which is what I did once I left Athens. It is alot of walking in Athens but there are many transportation options such as the public bus, taxis for cheap, or a hop on hop off bus tour which I recomend doing for when your tired of walking but still want to tour around. “Sites of Athens” is what I went on and they have many drop off and pick up locations around the city and popular tourist attractions. I visited the main archeological monuments such as the Acropolis, the Panathenaic stadium, the temple of Zeus, the arch of Hadrian, etc. There are also popular shopping areas and places to eat such as Monastiraki square and Plaka. I stayed at the Anthenium Grand Palace Luxury Suite as they have recently opened so it is new and they are still renevating but they had great customer service and the breakfast was amazing! Make sure to bring a European adapter for charging phones, cameras, etc.

If you love history this is the place for you. Athens is full with history from the first step off the plane you’ll know your in Athens Greece. While visiting Greece I stayed at Athens backpackers was the name of the hostel I stayed in while visiting was under neath the acropolis. The hostel had a rooftop bar that had a beautiful view during the day and night. Plenty of restaurants, shops, attractions feet from the hostel lobby. If your on a budget and trying to visit Greece I would highly recommend this hostel. Accessible from the metro it’s easy to arrive from the airport.

The archeological sites were jaw dropping! First thing to understand in Athens is…you will not see everything. I would suggest Acropolis, Parthanon, temple of Zeus, first Olympic Stadium and roaming the streets if Plaka! I found that after seeing all these sites, i had my full thrill of Greek history and a ton of memories!! I would suggest to book a hop on hop off tour and NEVER rent a car in Athens as they drive crazy lol.

    Greece is a beautiful country.
Once out of the port, you can get your round trip train ticket from the port station, and head on to the city center.
You can hike up to the Acropolis, beautiful sceneries once you arrive on top of the mountain. Don’t buy into the locals try to invite you to parties or give you freebies, cuz they would want some money in exchange.
You can get some good food(gyros/chicken Shawarma) by the restaurant near the museum down the entrance of the Parthenon. This has more historical activities than anything else.
Then I went over to Santorini on Aegean airline and enjoy the nicest view of the blue and white island, the blue dome, the church, the streets and host of others areas.
There is a cafe bistro in the area that had a great ambiance and atmosphere to it, that I enjoyed.
It is a really beautiful setting for romance, wedding and honeymoons. They do have some varieties of areas to get married at, and what I love is the dress rental company that can rent you a stunning flowy dress for your amazing photo shoot. I didn’t get to do this for they were unavailable the day I was in Santorini.
You can contact them ahead if time if this interests you:
    http://www.santorinidress.com
The rooms are a bit spend in Santoriny, so plan accordingly or just do a day tour and get back to the Athens airport.
The overall experience was great and the sunset on the Oia island was phenomenal; is to be seen.
I hope this helps plan your trip to Greece

Athens is beautiful, I loved spending time here. I enjoyed feeling like I was walking around a city once lorded by Ancient Greek Gods. There’s so much to do and you’ll find these things just by walking around the city. The people are super friendly and helpful. I got there by way of a ship from Italy! It was an 18 hour ride across the sea which was an experience in and of itself. Speaking of getting around, it’s also easily accessible with their metro, it’ll even take you right to the airport. The beach is an easy trolley ride away but you have to pay for them. It’s not much but still a little annoying, because you know.. it’s a beach. I ate gyro’s everyday, they are so delicious! I spent a lot of my time chilling on a massive rock right across from Acropolis to avoid the tourists, there’s a beautiful view of Acropolis and the entire city from this rock. I visited a really amazing museum called the Museum of Cycladic Art, at the time Ai Wei Wei’s exhibit was up and I spent hours there. A few warnings though, walking around at night can be pretty dangerous for a woman. This is one of the few places I can say don’t walk around alone after dark here. A lot of the locals I befriended warned me and then one night I had a close call and I was with some friends I’d made. I love and respect that Greece is/ was accepting of refugees but poverty breeds crime so be careful. Also be wary of how some locals treat the refugees. I watched a woman pour bread crumbs on a man sleeping in a park, he was attacked by hundreds of pigeons subsequently. When I spoke to her, she ranted about refugees and them getting hotels as if that were an option for them so that turned me off but otherwise, the locals I met were super dope and accepting. There’s also a large LGBTQ community for those that are a part of that community! Also! The islands are pretty far away, I didn’t plan well for how far they were so I didn’t get to visit them on my first trip to Greece. Santorini was a 9 hour boat ride away, for example. I had the pleasure of going to Greece for my honeymoon and it was a fantastic trip. We started our trip off in Athens for 3 days and had a wonderful time. Athens reminds me of NYC because the city is always packed with people and there’s always ton of stuff to do or eat! My husband and I loved all the restaurants and street food that we tried. Sauvvas is an awesome restaurant with an amazing view of the Parthenon. When you walk in, it doesn’t look like much but once you go up to the 4th floor you will see why the restaurant has raving reviews.

A must do in Athens is also Dinner in the Sky. I have done some pretty cool stuff in my life but having a 4 course dinner while being suspended on a crane in the middle of Athens takes the cake. The dinner was delicious, the staff was super friendly and you can not beat the amazing views.

Greece by far is my favorite country I have ever visited it. Athens is an amazing city that promises to all it all in one location. From amazing local food options, to the history on every corner, to the friendliness of the Greek people, my husband and I love Athens. The tours and accommodations were extremely affordable and we actually brought our 1 year old daughter with us and the locals were so sweet to her. A beautiful city and country!

There was much to do and experience in Greece. Great night life, nice beach and water sports and much too see on each island. I recommend island hopping. We flew from USA to Athens.
Then took a domestic airline to Mykonos then the lical seajet to Santorini. Greece was a bit pricey but you can do better making all reservations and planning months before your trip. Best places to stay varied between hotels and Airbnb. It depends on the island

Athens is for sure one of the best places to visit in your lifetime! Not only because of its history, but also because of its beauty. It’s one of the most historical city in the world, many places to see as Acropolis, Museums, things to do as going to the beach, you’ll find a variety (sand, rocks, mix of both) great food as the famous gyros, pastistsio, kalamarakia and great people. You can visit Athens even in the beginning of December, the weather will still be great, very sunny and warm.

I visited Greece in the middle of November thinking my fun would be limited due to the cold weather but boy was I wrong! I stayed in Athens in a town called Attiki which wasn’t too far from Plaka (where all the tourist stay) my hotel (Athens Atrium Hotel) was beautiful ! The people in the town were so sweet and courteous, during restaurant hopping in the area I had the best steak ever ! The Accropolis Museum wasn’t very far from the hotel. I went site seeing, ate great food and went to a great spa during my four days there, what more can a girl ask for ! I highly recommend a trip to Athens, you will not be disappointed.

When in Greece you definitely have to try their local food, everything tasted wonderful. You also have to visit the acropolis, we got one with a tour guide through the hotel and the tour guide would also teach us about the history of Greece and Greek Gods so I would definitely get a tour guide or go with a tour company
