I stayed in Bangkok for about 4 days and decided to do a day trip to Ayutthaya, the original capital of Thailand. I booked a day tour through TakeMeTour.com the evening before, and it cost about $100. This included transportation from my hotel and back, which was about an hour & a half drive. While I normally can do without tours, I felt one to Ayutthaya was helpful in terms of learning the history, getting around to the different temples, and knowing which temples you were actually seeing. The experience I did included 6 temple ruins,1 palace, visiting a floating market, and an opportunity to make boat noodles. The city itself is pretty cheap, you’ll see small shops selling food and cultural clothing as a lot of tourists like to dress up while visiting. If you’re interested in really learning about the history of Thailand, I would definitely recommend taking a trip to Ayutthaya, one day should suffice. Lucky for me I was the only one who booked the tour that day, so we were able to explore at my pace & get some pretty dope photos.
