Negril, Jamaica is a breathtakingly beautiful destination that offers something for everyone, making it a must-visit location for anyone seeking a tropical paradise. The town boasts stunning white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and spectacular sunsets that are sure to take your breath away. The drive to Negril from Montego Sangster airport is estimated at 90 minutes depending on traffic. I stayed at Couples Swept Away All-Inclusive resort with my spouse for 5 nights during the pandemic. We stayed on the resort and enjoyed the amenities such as the fitness center, olympian pool, nightclub, casino, and nightly entertainment. In addition, the resort offered a catamaran to Ricks’s cafe and snorkeling!! I will definitely return to Couples Swept Away Resort.
Negril is the perfect destination to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and create unforgettable memories.
Feel free to ask questions about Negril or Couples Swept Away resort .

My family is from Westmoreland so we like to visit Negril once in a while when we want to have some freedom! We stayed at the Royalton Negril the first time we went to Negril and it had just opened! We had a walk out pool, a hot tub bath in the room, and so much more.

There are many offerings from the resort, all-inclusive by the way, which includes paddle boarding, cliff jumping at Hard Rock, and more. If that’s not enough, try this unique activity… Kayaking in a Bioluminescent bay in Negril!

Negril is just great all around! The local bars, shops and restaurants are filled with life. You can always catch a vibe in Negril. I suggest taking a quick boat ride to Boobkey (lobster) island. The best meal and experience you will have. I also suggest drinks at Bourbon Beach. Great music and reasonably price libations.

    Royalton Negril Review

I was quite concerned after reading many negative reviews regarding staying at the Royalton in Negril. I must admit things were a little rocky at the start of my vacation. We arrived around 7:30pm. We are staying in the Diamond Club section so check in for the Diamond Club was closed. (no big deal)
When we arrived our room was great but noticed the AC wasn’t working to its full capacity and hinges to cabinet that holds the refrigerator came apart.
The next morning we called maintence and the guy arrived about 30 minutes later and fixed both items. On our way to breakfast we learned that dinner reservations must be made the same day due to COVID. Usually, no reservations are needed. The desk to make the reservations was located near the buffet where breakfast is served. When we arrived, at 10:00 am every restaurant was booked up for the day. I was told by another guest, that people lined up at 8:30 am to make dinner reservations and my 9:30am everything was booked. This made me a little upset on my vacation I would have to stand online every day and hope to get reservations to eat at a restaurant fir dinner. I decided to speak to the customer service manager. She was very nice and explained the protocol had change to eat in restaurants due to Covid. She also informed me that she would try to accommodate me and my buttler (who comes with the Diamond club reservations) would make my reservations everyday so I would have to get up early and stand on the line. To my surprise, everyday he was able to get us into a restaurant for dinner to eat. Problem solved!

I will admit dining service was slow.

The grounds here are clean, pool is clean, hand sanitizer stations are everywhere in the public eye, masks are enforced. Food was okay, they served traditional Jamaican food unlike some resorts in Jamaica. The jerk station food was the best. I ate the jerked chicken and pumpkin soup. It was decent for resort food.
On Christmas Day, the Grintch came out to the pool area to see the kids, followed by a local marching band of students. A hour later, Santa arrived by a boat to the beach. He gave out Christmas presents to all the children at the resort. They were decent little toys. My daughter received a toy microphone.

We stayed in building one. After reading reviews, I was prepared for the building to be far away from the main building. I was okay with it. The walk gave us exercises daily. There was a pool right in front of our building and the beach was nice and clean and located just outside building. Very little sea weed and the water was calm.

Nightly entertainment was great every night at 9:00pm they had a dance show followed by a DJ to play music outside by the martini bar until 1:00am. The music they played was great they kept everyone entertained and dancing all
night. Wearing masks were enforced! However, there were those who didn’t obey like home in the states.

    My personal experience was good.
I would definitely return to the Royalton in Negril.
PS: The Hideaway (adult side) is now open. It was closed since March due to Covid.

July 2020 I stayed at the “Azul Beach Resort”. Azul beach was 5days/4nights $980 My 1st trip I was able to go on since all the Covid 19 stuff has been going on..I went on Day 1 of the resort opening & honestly it was the best just to be at the resort with maybe only 15 other people there. Now is the best time to travel, places are cheap & the 5 star resorts are not over crowed!

I traveled to Negril for a baecation looking for time alone with bae, fun in the sun, and relaxation. Negril exceeded at all of these very easily. I stayed on the 7 Mile beach strip in Negril and there’s nothing more relaxing and tranquil than being able to wake up and step directly out on to the beach in Jamaica. Bae and I really got to connect, walk the beach together, watch the sunsets, and really enjoy each other’s company.

I went to Negril, Jamaica for the second time after 22 yrs. The island is paradise, the Royalton Negril resort was overlooking Long Bay. It’s great for snorkeling and scuba-diving. I went during Memorial Day Wkend for the Mocha fest 2019 therefore it was plenty of black travel groups and over 9 different theme parties that made the time there even more exciting. I had the best time of my life there.

Negril! There’s so many positive things to say about this town in Jamaica. Negril is very laid back, while remaining rich in history and authentic. There are two sides of Negril: The West End (Cliffside) and The Beach/Touristy Area on 7 Mile Beach.

I recommend visiting both sides to get the full experience of Negril’s beauty. No matter what type of traveler you are, you can surely find something that fits your traveling agenda.

I always stay in West End at an Airbnb. It is much cheaper than the resorts on 7 Mile Beach. Taxi rides from West End to the beach area is about $250 – $500 JA ($2.50USD – $5.00USD). The more that you look like a tourist, the more you will be treated as one. Meaning you will pay more. lol

There are various ocean front bars that you can walk to while staying in West End.

As a black woman, I always feel completely safe traveling to Negril solo. Unlike Montego Bay, there are not swarms of armed guards and heightened crime around.

One of the most famous places to visit is Rick’s Cafe on West End. The vibe is amazing and you can experience thrill-seekers in action as they cliff dive from extreme heights. The food there is not my favorite. I would personally recommend trying the local food that you come across on the side of the road opposed to spending $50USD at Rick’s Cafe for a meal and one drink. It is a “tourist trap” but nevertheless, everyone should go experience it at least once. It is cheaper to use JMD (Jamaican Dollar) versus USD at this location. Less taxes are applied when doing so.

Another location that I would highly recommend on West End is Xtabi Hotel. They have a great bar that also overlooks the cliffside of Negril. If you want to get some amazing footage, walk down towards the caves. It is such a sight to see! I promise you will not be disappointed.

There is also a “One Love Pub Tour” that is owned and operated from a Jamaican local named Lenbert. If you want to experience local bars and more of the cliffside, go to “TripAdvisor” and search for the pub tour. It is only $20 and it is goes towards a great cause. The owner operator always drives through a poverty stricken area to give items to children and families in need. Very heartwarming. It is important to experience the local life as black people when we visit. Give back to people for the common good!

They have many other tours that you can book to visit authentic places of Negril and Jamaica altogether.

If you’re like me and rather kick back to relax, Negril is the place to soak up the ambiance of the island!

Negril is the best place in Jamaica to travel to when you’re in search of a baecation lol. Negril is nestled in one of the most calmest parishes of the island, Westmoreland.

Negril is known for the famous Rick’s Cafe Restaurant. At this venue, you will enjoy great food, drinks, live entertainment, and witness divers jumping off a cliff onsite into the beautiful clear waters!

Ensure to travel with a local guide to receive the best experience in Negril, as there are plenty of hot tourist spots to visit.

Lastly, Rick’s Cafe has the best view of the sunset to capture those epic pictures for your social media.

P.s. you havent really experienced Negril if you havent seen that rasta man in a deck of cards sweatsuit , at 7mile beach! Lol
