If all you care to do on your vacation is while away the day in a hammock w/ a cool drink in hand, then Isla Holbox has got you covered. But for those active travellers who prefer to get-up-and-go, there are plenty of natural attractions to experience in paradise.

No cars, no paved roads, miles, and miles of pristine undeveloped beaches – this is my kind of place. Please don’t tell know body.

The tiny island of Isla Holbox has a great laidback vibe to it. Along with the beautiful beaches and glorious sunshine, its glittering Caribbean waters are also home to incredible marine life, with whale sharks being the pick of the lot.

Holbox, is a true gem. Rent a golf car for the day, head to the beach and grab a crepe from one of the many stands on the way. Seriously one of my favorite places in Mexico.

This is my absolute favorite vacation spot thus far! It’s a beautiful little island – NO CARS there! Only golf carts!! Only boutique hotels, no huge resorts! It’s perfect for a relaxing escape.

We stayed at Hotel Casa Sandra and the spotty wifi on the island allowed us to really unplug and relax. No TV in the room – even better :-) We enjoyed the hammock outside our room and were only a few steps away from the beach. It is beautiful!

Bikes are available and riding them around the island is fun and safe. It’s not very big, so you actually could bike the entire island.

We chose to do one excursion – to the bird island, passion island, and a swimming hole. It was awesome.

We were there a few years ago in April and there was some sort of festival in “town” one night, but I can’t remember exactly what it was for. Anyhow – GO HERE! You will not be disappointed!
