So Zambia has a special place on my heart. It’s the very first time I ever left the country (outside of Canada) and it was the experience that made me want to keep traveling. I went in college for a study abroad with a group and stayed with a family and I’ve never felt so welcomed and loved by what I thought were strangers but later I grew to think of as family. Everyone was so kind and caring.

In addition to feeling at home it’s a lot of opportunity for adventure ! It shares the border for Victoria falls and I had the adventure of my life White Water Rafting there !! You can also bungee jump from the falls which I believe is the 2nd or 3rd highest jump point in the world ! The safaris are amazing and the people are hospitable . It’s great !

While traveling to Zambia, my favorite and most memorable part was going to the Chaminuka Lodge. Here I got to go on a safari ride, boat ride in the lake, eat authentic delicious African cuisine, horseback riding and most excitingly walk with the Cheetahs! Exploring the safari and seeing the various animals such as the lions, elephants, giraffes, and ostriches made me fee like I was in the lion king but it was so beautiful! The cheetahs were definitely the highlight though a bit scary at first but I got comfortable after while and one even licked my hand. This adventure was also very affordable and I would recommend anyone traveling to Zambia to experience this.

I volunteered in 2014 for a 3 week kids camp to teach Hygiene and Physical Education. Had a blast and I actually learned a lot myself. Beautiful country and the people are amazing. Lusaka is a growing city with a lot of western businesses there. The weather was perfect and the food amazing. I made a lot of friends there that I still keep in contact with.
