Luquillo was clean and affordable. Locals were welcoming and willing to assist with ordering and finding things to do. Luquillo is a relaxing beach town, 45 min from city life of San Juan and 15 min from the rainforest. We ziplined, swam in a bioluminescent bay, relaxed at the beach, ate amazing food and met great people. We even learned a lil Spanish while there.

San Juan Puerto Rico is an excellent place to traveling while black. The amount of clubs and eateries that cater to us was eye opening to say the least. They even have Church’s chicken in almost every corner and the lines are always wrapped around the building. I didn’t find out until I returned back home that the Church’s offer more than just chicken in Puerto Rico. I will definitely return just to go to Church’s LOL

Playita Del Condado Beach is one of my favorite beaches in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is a perfect mix of local and tourist life. A perfect destination for a relaxing day at the beach or a prime location for water sports, you can spend the entire day here. AirBnB Experiences is an excellent resource for scouting daily activities at a convenient price point. You can set your filters to decide how much coin to want to spend then enjoy activities such as snorkeling, parasailing and kayaking. There are many hotels in the area such as the Hilton and Holiday Inn which pair well with familiar American food like Denny’s which can be found in the area. There are also many local vendors selling island favorites such as pinchos (kebabs), empanadas (beef patties) or other small appetizers and local juices. Conveniently located near the highway, this beach is easily accessible by rental, scooter, bike or Uber. Not fluent in Spanish? No worries. Due to its high tourist population, many of the vendors and instructors speak English but if you happen to stumble upon the few who don’t, there’s always somewhere near to lend a broken palabra.

I recently traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico and had an amazing time. We stayed at the AC Marriot in Condado. It’s a great area, because of the convenience to the beach, local restaurants and Old San Juan. Best restaurant I ate at was La Dulce Vida. The pork monfongo was AMAZINGGGGG! One of the highlights of the trip was a 2 hour walking tour around old San Juan. Our travel guide Juan was super informative and knowledgeable. Make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes and hydrate.

My experience in San Juan, Puerto Rico was a 10/10!! The local burrito/taco restaurant that we visited was very friendly. We took on Jet-skiing during the day and went to the best bar hopping spot by night (La Placita). I would recommend never getting a layover! Haha! Straight flights only.

My family and I had an amazing trip to Puerto Rico. We flew into San Juan, but decided to go outside of the city and stay in Camuy. This was about a 45 minute drive from the airport. We stayed at an Airbnb that was owned by locals of the community. We had a beautiful view of the ocean, and woke up to the sound of waves crashing each morning. In addition to the beautiful view, there were so many to do! We were able to go to a Local Street Fair, visited Crash Boat Beach, explored San Juan and other cities, and more! I highly recommend renting a car if you want to explore other parts of Puerto Rico.

I visited Puerto Rico in 2017 for a birthday trip. We stayed at the AC Hotel which has a rooftop pool with views of the city of San Juan and the shoreline. It also allows access to the Marriott about 2 blocks away with beach access. The food is great, we ate at local spots off the beaten path, but I suggest open table to find good locations. We did a sunset sailboat tour, which was absolutely beautiful. Most of the time was spent poolside or on the beach. But it’s definitely great culture, cuisine and drinks.

There are soooooo many thing to do here! Definitely venture outside of San Juan. We stayed in Humacao which I loved! I would recommend staying in an AirBnB vs a hotel unless you’re staying at a resort. You will get more bang for your buck. Also prepare to have the power go out at least once during your stay. It happens. You must take the ferry to the other islands but if you book early enough (about a month to 3 weeks) you can get a private boat for a decent price. The food is amazing as you would imagine. Rather you enjoy more outdoor activities like hiking or just want to relax on the beach this place is great! Also don’t forget to hit the luquillo beach kiosks for food at least once.

Puerto Rico is a beautiful country! I went to San Juan, Puerto Rico. This was my first time traveling solo, and it was such a GREAT experience. Here were my favorite highlights of the trip!

    Favorite Brunch: Bistro Café
I liked the Bistro Café because of the Mimosa Special. The popsicle made the mimosa taste much better. They will give you a lot of food on your plate.

Favorable Excursion: The El Yunque Rainforest
I booked a tour on Airbnb Experience called Off the Beaten Path Rainforest Tour. My two tour guides were so nice and patient with us, and they know a lot about the history of the rainforest. Even though it was tough hiking through the rainforest, I had fun and made new friends. I slid on the waterfalls, and I jumped off the cliff. Also, I made new memories that I’ll never forget.

Favorite thing about San Juan: Old San Juan
I loved the culture and history behind Old San Juan. The colorful buildings and the people make it ten times better. They have every shop and restaurant at every corner that you can’t miss!

    Favorite Treat: Mr. Weenie’s Waffles
I am a waffle person. Even though it was a long wait, it was worth it. I was able to tell them what kind of waffle I want, the sauce, syrup, and toppings. The waffle tasted so good!

    Favorite Restaurant: The Wicked Lily
I loved the view of Condado Beach. It was so relaxing, and the wind helped me cooled down. The Calamari tasted so good that I wanted more!

I stayed at the Caribe Hilton Resort. This resort has restaurants, a pool/beach area, and a garden. They have three sections of the hotel, the Garden View, the Beach View, and Wave View. I stayed at the Wave view, which has an ocean and garden view. There is a balcony, so you can sit and look out. After a long day, I go to the pool/beach area to wind down. Watching the sunset and relaxing at the beach is the best part of the day.

This review is for Vieques, small island off the east coast of Puerto Rico. I’ve been all over the main island and Vieques is a vastly different experience so listen up.

This is a great post pandemic trip for Americans. If you are vaccinated just provide proof when you land or get a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior. The island was very diligent about covid precautions/contact tracing so be prepared to answer some questions and fill out forms. There is no currency exchange or passport needed but you will feel like you’re in a different country.

Overall, this is a quieter place than mainland PR or other Caribbean haunts. No touristy gimmicks but plenty to keep you engaged.

We stayed at a home in Isabelle Segunda on the northern coast, blocks from the ferry and the better on-island grocers.

    Tips:

-The ferries (from Cieba) is cheap but can be inconsistent so fly (30 mins) from San Juan if you want to save time.

-I suggest renting a car. We stayed on the north coast of the island, most of the nicer beaches are on the south side (a 20 minute ride away). We had a Jeep for a few days and a golf cart subsequently due to booking. The cart worked but the Jeep was a much nicer/efficient experience.

-Our favorite beach was Sun Bay. We also liked Las Chivas (try field 10-14). The Black Sand beach is ok for lounging but not for swimming. For a real private beach feel, look for Coconut Beach on the south coast. It’s unmarked and off a dirt road but is beautiful(albeit a bit rocky for swimming)

-The mosquitoes are lively and abundant, bring repellent.

-Gas runs short and only one station on the island was open during our stay. Don’t let your tank get past half full or bring an extra can when you go.

-The ferry now run directly to Culebra (another island that houses the gorgeous flamenco beach). While the times aren’t always convenient check for availability.

-Restaurant favorites: Duffys, Trade Winds, Rising Roost and the red food truck across from the ferry (don’t recall the name but order the empanadas). We went to Lazy Jacks, food is meh, drinks are good.

-Go to Finca Victoria. Either to stay or for their Friday night diner series (reservation required). It’s a vegan ayurvedic retreat but well worth a visit.

Regarding the culture. It always amazes me the how diverse the people of Puerto Rico are. Often the popularized Puerto Ricans are lighter but the island has beautiful folks of all different shades. We found people friendly and welcoming to us.

There is a beach strip called Piñones . It’s an area just outside of San Juan located along route 187. Very scenic road that shows you more rustic side of the island and has such a vast variety of different food along this beach strip .

Puerto Rico has a unique blend of a city’s entertainment/night life and relaxation and beaches.

We went during quarantine and although it was limited, there were still plenty to do, eat and drink. There was a curfew at 10pm and drinking ends at 7pm.

For an extended stay I would recommened renting a car a driving east to Pinones or the rainforest or even going south. You’ll get more local cuisines but it start to look sketchy so be wary.

They have so many hidden beaches, with beautiful scenery, I recommend checking out Pinones.

We stayed in Carolina, on Playa Isla Verde. That area is beautiful, close to the beach, drinks right on the main, and only 5 miles to Old San Juan.

Lastly, food prices are pretty similar to in the US or in other parts of the US. Regular meals will be $15-$20, regular sized drinks $10-$15.

Puerto rico was AMAZING so beautiful. I went in 2018 right after the hurricane and they truly had come far. We stayed at the Best Western in Condado right next to San Juan. We choose this location due to having points to redeem and reduced our cost to paying for 1 night instead of 5. We did rent a car at the airport. It was fairly easy to drive around town and google maps was pretty up to date. The food was GREAT. We went to Waffler Avenue on the beach for Breakfast. We also went to Ropa Vieja Grill. The Beaches Culebra is a must! Just a short Ferry ride from Fajardo. The nightlife GREAT! We went to Mijani the Club in La Placita de Santurce for salsa night Thursday. This particular area is a market that turns into a nightlife spot in the evenings/weekends. Many resturants and bar similar to Old San Juan. We also did a rum tasting tour with the Bacardi Factory that included 5 samples of rum (straight shots). Y The people are BEAUTIFUL and friendly. Im planning to go back in 2021 and couldn’t be more excited.

PR where do I start ❤️ I think I will visit here once a year. The executive order has been extended to August 21st. The curfew is from 10pm until 5am, masks are required, as well as social distancing. Beaches are open Monday – Saturday only for individual exercising. The best decision is to go after all this is passed. OLV is an adult only resort that is a must. Olive boutique is its sister resort and is another adult only that is worth experiencing. We stayed in San Juan for 2 days, Ricion for 3 days, Isabella for 3 days, and Cabo Rojo for 2 days.
Las Salinas de Cabo Rojo is where the pink beach is, I just got back last week and a lot of things are closed due to the recent flood. Also PR was closed for tourism at the time I went so the night life that usually is the most enjoyable was not available. Try out Patio de las Flores in Carolina every women gets a flower when they walk in and the drink menu is really cute. My experience was cut short because I arrived at 6:30pm almost couldn’t order a drink. The bars in PR follow the rules to the T, no alcohol served after 7pm ( due the executive order). Lote 23 is where I found the best mofongo. Cabo Rojo there is a light house and a beach called Playuela , the pink salt flats are here also ( but this area was closed many people walk the trail to the light house that is about 30-40 min walk). My best advice is to rent a car and drive your heady away exploring this beautiful island.

Puerto Rico was so much fun! Here’s some places I visited:

Panuchos (large, strong margaritas & bomb quesadillas!)

La Factoria (great at night. located in old San Juan. Great drinks and vibes!)

Dude’s Diner (great breakfast food & some of the best milkshakes. Has a very retro, 50s vibe.)

Café Tresbé (outdoor restaurant. Went at night for a burger & fries, the burger was tasty.)

Cloud Spa (probably one of the best spas I’ve ever been to. Really nice ambiance & they had this salt pool that made you float. Overall very relaxing.)

Viejo San Juan is the epitome of history. The cobblestoned streets and the amazing Spanish architecture overlooking the bay and the ocean is breathtaking. Viejo San Juan takes you back in time to experience life back in the day, but you spring into the youthful vibrance of the nightlife that floods its streets. Definitely a place to add to your list.

I went to PR for a baecation/birthday trip and it was the perfect getaway. I love that it’s intimate, romantic, chill, but also has great nightlife vibes. You can do PR on any type of budget even if it’s super tight or if you prefer the finer things.

Uber does not pick you up from the airport so it’s best to get transportation to your hotel or Airbnb from the taxi stand area.

I stayed in a luxury condo with a beautiful ocean view via Airbnb but would highly recommend staying in the Condado area because it’s closer to all of the main attractions. If you prefer to be lowkey then Rio Grande would be the perfect area for you.

The best places to go to are Ashford Avenue, La Placita for nightlife, Old San Juan, Luquillo Beach, and Isle Verde Beach.

I’ve been to Puerto Rico a few times, once I stayed in an Airbnb which was just an OK experience considering the price and how it looked, I’ve stayed at the Intercontinental which is pricey but beautiful, and I’ve stayed at a friends home which is always nice. If it’s your first time going to Puerto Rico I would suggest staying in San Juan, because there’s a lot to do as far as food exploring nightlife, and the beach. If you decide to go outside of San Juan prices will be cheaper, but there are definitely a lot of options inside of San Juan where you wouldn’t necessarily need a car, and could just Uber to different places. The food and Puerto Rico is my favorite, rice and beans, empanadas, tostones, and mofongo are all A1. Nightlife is lit too if you love Spanish music and dancing as much as I do. I try to make a trip to PR every couple of years.

San Juan is an amazing city and I had a great time while I was there. A lot of my plans were cut short due to the hurricane (that went around us). Everyone there was nice and helpful and there was no shortage of all types of people traveling. I rented a car to get away from main part of San Juan and drove to a beach about an hour away that wasn’t crowded which had great photo opportunities. Just be mindful that the further you get away from the city the more you can see some places are still recovering from the hurricane that it a few years ago. I also went to the Bacardi factory which I highly recommend. You taste all types of Bacardi and learn the history behind it and while it’s a staple within PR. Make sure you visit Old San Juan and walk the streets. They have some great restaurants and shops to hit up, but it can get crowded in that area too because the cruise port it also there. It might be crazy to even have to state this, but you DO NOT need a passport to visit a territory of the United States if you are a citizen of the U.S.

Ever wanna go on a quick getaway on a tight budget?! Well Puerto Rico is a great travel destination for those looking for a quick getaway on a budget. I booked a vacation to Puerto Rico for by birthday, while I was in graduate school. Money was tight at the time, but Puerto Rico was a great destination for me to stretch my struggling college student dollars. I was able to book round trip tickets for a couple hundred dollars, as well as book a nice resort style hotel just a couple blocks from the beach for an affordable price. The hotel also offered free drinks and snacks during happy hour everyday which was a plus. Restaurants offered delicious local cuisine that was also affordable. Mofongo is a MUST try if you enjoy plantain! Cover charges for clubs and bars were also very affordable, especially for females. I was able to stretch my money and do many tours throughout as well. I visited El Yunque Rainforest and waterfall, went parasailing on the beach, rode jet ski’s, rode ATV’s, toured Old San Juan, and did a rum tasting tour at the Bacardi Factory all while on a budget!

The History of PR was really awesome to learn about. They have parts of Old San Juan that date back to the 16th century! We went on a Rum tour throughout the historical district and it legit felt like going in a time machine. The El Yunque Rain Forest had a ton of history dating back to the slave era. We learned they even had plants imported from India to help them track runaway slaves. If you’re looking for some fun at night, La Placita is the place to be. The entire island has some amazing energy and I look forward to revisiting.

if you’re looking for a quick, affordable getaway with great food, this is the place. Make sure you stop at the “Bistro Cafe.” Probably the best breakfast place in San Juan and the locals will agree. Also, “Raices” for the best monfongo and Pina colada.

If you’re looking to go sightseeing or exploring on your own, I definitely recommend Puerto Rico! Just take some time to plan your trip before you leave, but it will be well worth it. The country is safe enough for you to not worry about doing things on your own. We didn’t pay for any tours while were on vacation and everyone we encountered was soo nice. I LOVED our trip.

Puerto Rico is one of my favorite places to visit. I took my 3rd trip there this past November with my mom and friend proving that this is a trip for all ages. We stayed at El San Juan Hotel this time as I usually perfect resorts while in the Caribbean. We explored outside of typical San Juan this time in search of some dope photos making our way to La Perla a hurricane ravaged area with beautiful houses and secret local restaurants (La Garita was amazing!). I highly recommend stopping by. Old San Juan bringing culture and beautiful buildings while Isla Verde brings you beautiful beaches. There were a few resorts that were still under construction from the hurricane in 2017 but for the most part everything is up and running. Visiting the Bacardi factory is a popular attraction so I decided to visit this time. It was so so, it’s something to do and of course nice for pictures, but not a must see. For food try more local spots than tourist places, our faves were Chloe, Hijole, Ladiis &
Place. We also found a more touristy sport on the beach that had an amazing brunch, El Alambique Beach Bar. We are mostly local and loved everything. Traveling while black, we were treated wonderfully. We felt very at home and comfortable.

Puerto Rico is truly a great country filled with an amazing culture. I took a solo visit to San Juan and explored the historic Old San Juan area. I took some great shots in front of the governors house and the central plaza area. There is a popular spot where most travelers take photos under what feels like a sea of umbrellas right on Fortaleza Street which is a must see. I also spent a day riding a bike from my hotel through Old San Juan and enjoyed the scenic beach views and landmarks. I’d recommend if you have a free day to also visit the Yunque National Forest. The waterfall there is an excellent spot to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Puerto Rico. The nightlife in San Juan is quite festive as well with tons of spots to grab drinks and party through the night

Puerto Rico is a nice island. It is very relaxing and stress free. The cool breeze, palm trees, and beaches give you a new beautiful view everyday. There are quiet places, where you can enjoy your own company or be with friends and family.

Okay so i recently went to San Juan, Puerto Rico i will highly recommend going to El Yunque Rainforest and touring the forest and waterfall. Please bring comfortable hiking shoes, you will be climbing a lot. In addition i recommend visiting Culebra Island, a small island just outside of Puerto Rico. You can do this by leaving from the Ceiba ferry terminal (get there early) and it’s 5$ round trip (a 45 minute ferry ride to the island). You can get your tickets online by looking up the Ceiba ferry terminal.
Ladies night at Señor Frog I’m Old San Juan is on Wednesday. 10$ entry fee and ladies drink free all night. La Placita is the party place on the weekends. It’s a strip full of open bars and you can go bar hopping free of charge.

Puerto Rico has become my go to place when I’m in need of sun, fun and a moment to relax. San Juan is the most popular destination when traveling to Puerto Rico. Old San Juan is very easy to get around without a car or a quick Uber ride. When i did need to call an Uber most rides were all under $9. Pani Agua is my all time FAVORITE place and usually first stop. It is a Puerto Rican restaurant and bar that serves the best empanadas and mojitos. The best about Pani Agua is you will enjoy yourself whether is lunch, the evening or place to start your evening. Greengos Caribbean Cantina has an amazing happy hour and the nachos are a must. Celebrating a birthday or anniversary, Sofia’s Old San Juan is your place. They will definitely set the tone with amazing service, food and evening recommendations. Punto de Vista Rooftop Restaurant is the perfect place for city views and good drinks while watching the sunset. Blonda Condado is a quick Uber ride from Old San Juan and a great place for brunch. What’s brunch without mimosa?! Blonda delivers with an amazing mimosa flights for those who can’t really decide on one flavor.

I went on this trip with my boyfriend for my birthday and I loved it! The people are very nice and kept complementing me on my dreads. We stayed for a week and each day was filled with some kind of adventure. We did all sorts of fun activities that was all pretty much affordable. The Uber’s are pretty cheap but that’s probably because we stayed in San Juan and everything was pretty close. The views are so nice and the street food is amazing and cheap! I loved it and I didn’t want to leave so I highly recommend.

I went to Puerto Rico for a baecation birthday. I stayed with my boyfriend in Rio Grande. He rented a car which was really helpful. We drove to old San Juan to eat, buy cigars and toured Castillo San Cristóbal. Food was always reasonable and delicious.
We drove to El Duque which is a scary ride up. There’s a suggested donation. We hiked to the gorgeous waterfall and took some amazing pics.

Puerto Rico is one of my favorite places to visit! I actually always joke that I could move there. I normally stay in the Condado area either at Caribe Hilton or the San Juan Marriott. The Marriott is a close walking distance to many restaurants and shops while Caribe Hilton is secluded but has a private beach unlike the rest of the hotels in San Juan. Puerto Rico has some amazing food! I really like Yerba Buena in Condado but all of the restaurants are pretty good. Old San Juan has some really good restaurants as well. as the original makers of the pina colada. Barrachina in Old San Juan claims to have invented the pina colada, it’s a must to go there and try the pina colada. I highly recommended visiting El Yunque National Forest while in Puerto Rico. It’s so beautiful and you can go swimming in the waterfall. I booked a tour through my hotel and it also included a stop along the way for lunch. For nightlife, I always go to Club Brava at the El San Juan hotel. It’s pretty popular with tourist but I always have a good time!

Theres SO MUCH TO DO IN PR! In having family there it really was a great trip to live like a tourist this past trip. We stayed at a beautiful airbnb (all 18 of us) in the mountains near El Yunque. We rode ATVSs through the mountains, had a boat ride to Culebra which was the most beautiful beach that Ive ever been to! During this trip we were able to snorkel and see the most beautiful fish and coral reefs there. It was truly a great experience. Also, exploring old San Juan with its rich culture and history was also a trip to remember.

I just got back from a family trip in San Juan. I agree with the other travelers…3-4 days is long enough…we stayed for a week. I found 2 spots that showed me a good time. For the foodies, I found a spot on Ashford Ave. called Cayo Blanco…directly across the from Condado Vanderbilt hotel…we went a couple times!! The meals are like $20+ but worth it in my opinion. Now for the partiers, I found this strip club called District!! The girls are good looking and the drinks weren’t watered down. The music is up to date and more up beat. Not quite as fun as Atlanta strip clubs, but as far as these Caribbean strip clubs go, this was the best!!!

San Juan is perfect for relaxing. It’s a great no hassle destination being that s US passport isn’t required. I would recommend staying in Mameyes or in the mountains of El Yunque. The weather was amazing with a few rain spurts. I enjoyed a massage at the ocean, swimming at the pool that looked over the mountain top and caterered dinners. Most people speak English and the prices are comparable to US

I liked Puerto Rico but personally thought it was overrated. It was like a smaller version of Miami. I went with three other friends and we stayed at the Inntercontinental. Breakfast was included and it was okay for the most part. I do remember eating at a Mexican restaurant for dinner one time and it was amazing. I went Parasailing a few times and it was really fun!

Even though PR was overrated to me, i still would recommend it as a nice getaway.

LOVE PR. And recommend it to everyone. Stay in an Airbnb and rent a car so you can travel around the island. There’s so much to see outside of San Juan and it’s only a 1-2 hr drive.
Las Salinas de Cabo Rojo (the pink beach) is a must see. Online it will say it’s only open on wkends but you can go see it anyday!

Surfers Beach in Aguadilla was my favorite beach. It has a secret 15 min trail leading to another area called survival beach. It’s breathtaking!
Boqueron is another must see area. There’s bars, nightlife, and amazing beaches. There’s a little area called poblado de Boqueron with really decent Africo Latina murals and other urban art, also great street food, restaurants, and drum circles depending on the day.
If you’re just staying in San Juan, check out la placita. It’s kind’ve like Borboun st and has something for everybody. Tons of bars that play everything from salsa, merengue, reggaeton.. it’s pretty neat.
Isla verde and ocean park were the San Juan beaches I visited. Not as pretty as the others I mentioned that were on the west side but still pretty.
Of course old San Juan is a must. Visit la factoria and do some salsa!
In summary. Leave old San Juan if u can and explore other areas. There’s so much on this island. I can’t wait to go back and see more.

I absolutely love Puerto Rico and visit every year. If you want to party with the locals, there are two places you must visit:

    1. La Placita – Located in San Juan, this is a great spot for bar hopping. The streets are blocked off and is full of bars, club and restaurant options. Think of it as a street party. You will definitely find something that you will like. You can grab street food and even catch a salsa spot or two.

    2. Santurce Arts District – This jumping neighborhood is filled with street art and has great spots to catch live music, grab a drink or have dinner. I had the best octopus and calamari at a spot called Graziani. And you have to grab a drink from Esquina El Watusi. The line gets long but it’s worth it.

I went to Puerto Rico for a relaxing girls trip. If this is what you are looking for, I think the destination is perfect. After 2 days, I was craving something more adventurous though. Our second to last day, we went on a Catamaran ride to Icacos – and this ended up being my favorite day of the trip. We booked the day trip through East Island Excursions. We took off at 9:30am from the port (and drove there from Humacao, which was an easy 30 min ride). We were originally suppose to go to Culebra, but due to weather conditions had to re-route to Icacaos. We had an opportunity to snorkel on the way over at a nearby island (Lobos Island). Then we ended up at Icacaos – the white sand beaches were GORGEOUS and the water was so clear and blue. We swam to shore and sat on the beach for about an hour before heading back to mainland. We got back around 3:30pm. The day flew by. We also met other groups of people visiting and had a great time drinking on the boat with them, It was still a pretty relaxing day, but a nice break from the poolside days prior. However, all in all, if you are looking for a trip packed with things to do, this may not be the best destination – but this day trip was so much fun.

I stayed in San Juan, PR for the weekend. It was extremely beautiful, and filled with many activities. As a black American from the US mainland, my friend and I found it incredibly easy to navigate. In San Juan, they have this area called La Placita. There is so much to do there at night, especially on weekends. They have restaurants, hookah, and outdoor dancing. There are tons of people roaming through the area all throughout the night. Uber also does pickups and drop-offs there, which makes getting to and from very simple. The people were very kind. Old San Juan also has a lot going on at night. When I went they were hosting a free concert. Besides that, they had plenty of food and music. It was a great experience, and always something there to get into!

I just returned from a weekend of fun in the sun in Puerto Rico for $175 with 10 of my friends! We were only there for the weekend and were all able to make it to work on time Monday Morning!

    How?

RT Frontier Airlines flight from NYC for $68

Navona Studios is in the heart of Old San Juan! Rooms are about $105 a night! We were a group of 10 and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves! We had a great view from our rooftop which was nicely furnished and the balcony rooms didn’t disappoint! We all literally felt like we were in a mansion and we all had our own room with bathrooms, TV/Cable, Fridge and Microwave!

    Top Things To Do:
Visit Historical Sites in Old San Juan (The Forts, Castles, and Cathedrals) and you can also watch all the ships come in and out the port! Great place to spend the day with family!

Eat Authentic Puerto Rican Food! La Placita is the place to be for food and nightlife! This place doesn’t disappoint ! The bars are packed, and the DJs will have you dancing all night! It has a block party vibe! If partying isn’t your thing, i advise you get here before 6pm! You will eat well and can definitely people watch and enjoy breaking your neck to see bodies of the Puerto Rican women ??? ! & The Puerto Rican men are something to look at too, so attractive ? (Not reccomended for children after 7pm)

Visit Condado Beach Area! This is for the ritzy folks! This will appease your thirst for luxury! 5 Star hotels, fancy restaurants, a bustling nightlife and the beach has been labeled best beach in the world a few times! Oh and the views are great and very close to Old San Juan! Reccomended for all ages

Isla Verde another one of Puerto Rico’s gems! Gamblers get ready, casinos every where!! The beaches are amazing and not crowded at all! I stayed in this area my first time in PR! It was cool but I was disappointed we had to take Taxis everywhere but it is near the airport! Great place if you’re on a honeymoon or need some privacy! Great for all ages, especially if your kids are easily entertained!

To fully immerse yourself in the culture you have to visit Pinones for some amazing Puerto Rican food and street food! You will be full and never forget these meals! Bring a blanket because you’re going to have to unbutton those pants and take a nap on the beach once the itis is activated! &the food is super cheap so it’s a win win! Great place for kids, and opportunities to kayak or paddleboard!

Nature Lovers: Kayak in the bioluminescent bay !!

You Can also take a hike through el Yunque rainforest great scene an photo OP at the waterfall!

You can also take a tour through PR’s Botanical Garden, very nice plenty of photo opportunities! I think its like $10 for a guided tour on a golf cart typa thing! Don’t quote me on it, I did it 2 years ago!

Last but not least, The cock fights at Club Gallistico! May be a bit brutal for some but that shit is WICKED ! Place bets on a rooster, and pray and hope he survives ! They really beat each other to a bloody pulp! They don’t stop till they know their opponent is dead! I sseen them peck each other’s eyes out and I seen them go all brain dead! Idk how it’s legal but it’s their national sport so you have to try it at least bnbonce!

Notable Mention: Club District ! We were here every night ! We couldn’t leave them strippers alone! and the spot didn’t even shut down yet and we left at like 6-7am twice! Great post game spot to chill if you aren’t ready to call it a night!

Seriously have no complaints about this place. Beautiful inside and out before the hurricanes hit. My family and I stayed at the Sheraton in old San Juan. We had views of the cruise ships from our room and also on the rooftop where the pool was located. They had a breakfast buffet that was like $27 and wasn’t worth it at all but too each it’s own. The staff was awesome though!

Went here 2 times. Stayed 1 night in Condado Wave Hotel. Cute rooms, rooftop hot tubs, close walking distance to beach and restaurants. Great local food at Orozcos. My family rented a house for Thanksgiving. It was a close drive to Luquillo Beach. Went to the beach area at night for dinner. They have multiple food stalls and bars playing music. Went on a mini boat tour from Fajardo to Palomino Island with my sister and nieces. We drove the boats. The waves were big and we enjoyed jumping them. There was good snorkeling as well. Went body rafting, hiking, waterfall jumping in El Yunque with Kalichi Adventures for $175. They do offer discount to emergency staff. Walked around to the waterfalls in El Yunque. Walked around the fort and Old San Juan. Went to lunch at Barrachina’s and had their famous piña colada. Went tubing and on a nature walk with Tanama River Adventures. It was fun and very informative. Took a tour to Playa Flamenco and Culebra Island for a beach day. Went snorkeling. Saw turtles and jellyfish. Not that many tropical fishes. The beaches in Condado are pretty.

I’ve been fortunate to travel to Puerto Rico a few times and it’s always an experience worth remembering. The best dare-devil adventure excursion they have is their mountain top ziplining. It’s starts off as a normal Zipline experience but as you through the courses the Ziplines become longer and higher. The final being a mile long crossing over river rapids from one mountain top to the next. Talk about an adrenaline rush, you want excitement and to live life on the edge do the EL TORO MOUNTAIN TOP ziplining which is longest, fastest, highest Zipline combo in the Americas. My experience was before the Hurricane devastation.

An easier adventure is hiking the El Yunque Forest, very scenic and breathtaking.

PR is fun! I went during Memorial Day Weekend 2018 and it was not as lively as I thought it would be but it was still a great trip none the less especially because I went with a group of 10. I would recommend Raices for a great meal however, if you want a great meal for an even better price you have to try Rubens. I probably ate there 3 times during the weekend I was there. As far as nightlife you have to go to La placita. There you can find many bars and can buy a cigar if you are into that. We actually rode a party bike to La Placita ( highly recommend for a group of six ). It was so fun as they supplied shots while on the bike and allowed you to select your own music for the ride. However, do not be confused, you actually have to pedal. The Bacardi Tour was my absolute favorite part of the trip. I would definitely recommend doing the mixology class along with the tour while you are there. They teach you to make your own drinks using Bacardi and and you get to drink them; not to mention you get a welcome drink upon arrival ( I hope you see where I’m going with this ). I would say if you go there go with your wallet because you can purchase a bottle of limited edition Barcadi but it’s $100+.

At the time the rainforest was still closed and was told not to waste my money on the bioluminescent tour as it was not the same as before the hurricane. I also did not see any black people besides the people I traveled with if you care about that.

My home away from home , Puerto Rico. I’ve had times where I planned a trip to PR just to eat! No matter what your taste you’ll find a dish you can’t live without in Puerto Rico. Homemade moonshine, pig roasts, fresh yuca , mangos and passion fruits right off the tree. This is hands down my favorite place to travel to and eat.

Get you a drop top Jeep and explore the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. You can see the amazing architecture of Old San Juan, and the inner mazes of the Castillo Fortress. Go fly boarding at Luquillo Beach, and ride jet skis along the coast side of San Juan. Which happens to be apart of the Bermuda Triangle. Both were AMAZING experiences. There’s lots to do, and if you’re not a thrill seeker, enjoy a bottle of Bacardi or Medalla straight from their home land. Enjoy!
    Also… Their seafood!! ????

San Jaun is a perfect quick getaway. The weather is almost always perfect (other than hurricane season of course) and the sunsets are unforgettable. Also, the food is amazing pretty much anywhere you eat and mostly inexpensive. Luquillo also has a wonderful beach with Jet Skis and 30+ kiosks all full of great food and pretty cool drinks.

Puerto Rico is such a beautiful COLOURFUL place! I loved the architecture of the houses/stores/street, even the streets art ! We had so much fun doing old school activities with the locals such as flying kites and dance in the streets ! We had a blast ! You can also have pretty views on the ocean from the ruins of old castles ! We will definitely go back

Everything about Puerto Rico is AMAZING. I can’t wait to visit again, the Food ,people, things to do, transportation even relaxing on the beach!
I wish I remembered all the places we ate because the food is a 10 but most restaurants are really good! Aside from the beautiful beaches you should visit El Yunque, La Placista, Old San Juan and so much more. A little known fact there’s a Bacardi Factory and honestly that was my favorite part of the trip! It cost money but we’ll worth it. I would visit Puerto Rico again and Again.

I had the opportunity to visit San Juan, Puerto Rico and it was great and inexpensive getaway.I stayed at the La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort. The hotel was very clean ,modern and the staff was extremely friendly.San Juan is filled with fun activities and beautiful views.Riding ATV’s in El Yunque NationalForest was exciting and a breathtaking view of the rainforest. If your looking for a fun night life experience ,go to La Placita they have different variations of bars and clubs. Most importantly visit Old San Juan for museums, historic tours, and learn more about the culture.

Puerto Rica is a great inexpensive getaway. I found an incredible deal for only $500 with flight and hotel, staying at the Hilton. You do not need all inclusive, you want to experience the delicious Puerto Rican food in town. Beautiful colorful, vibrant buildings, and lots of culture and history places to visit.

I travel to PR every year for my birthday. It was the first place outside of the continental US that I went to by myself. And I fell in love! Every time I step off the plane, it’s like this island is speaking to my soul. Every time I go I stay in an Airbnb and I have never regretted any of my stays. The last 2 yrs I have stayed in Luquillo on the east side of the island at an Airbnb called Love Soul Beautiful Bed & Breakfast. Molly who runs this place is absolutely wonderful and the place just makes you feel at home. And you can’t beat that its a block from the beach and you can see from the balcony. If you have a chance, go stay in Luquillo at Love Soul Beautiful…you won’t be sorry.

When I went to Puerto Rico, I stayed in San Juan in an Airbnb! I usually like to stay in hotels on islands but, I found a great deal on an Airbnb and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever! I was submerged right into the culture and able to find all of the hidden spots! If you are looking for fun at bars or restaurants, I recommend La Placita on Thursday’s! Also, the Barcardi rum tour and the atvs at El Yunique rainforest are a MUST! For good food, definitely go to Mango’s!

I have experienced some major highs this year but nothing quite compares to my recent trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I’m not going to bore you guys with the specifics I’ll just highlight some of the exciting moments. When we arrived at the airport I noticed that I was hearing Spanish being spoken all around me. All of the signs that I saw in the airport were in Spanish, when we got in the shuttle all of the green Interstate signs were in Spanish. When I tried to do a Google search of the car rental place, everything in my Google search had translated to Spanish and I had no idea how to change it back. I freaked out just a tad bit because I only learned about five Spanish words prior to the trip. Lol, I’ve made it my mission to learn more Spanish by next year. Switching gears, on the way to our hotel I noticed a gas station… the price of gas was $0.65 a gallon!! I was like I need a container so I can take some gallons back with me. Our hotel choice was La Concha Resort in San Juan. We stayed there for 3 nights, it should have been four but due to a delayed flight my friend and I had to stay one night in New Jersey. Every square foot of that hotel was fabulous. They had a casino, live entertainment every night, valet parking, professional staff, beautiful pools, they even had an infinity pool with a beach view which was so serene. The activities that we chose to do were sightseeing in Old San Juan, hiking and cave tubing along the Tanama River, we also planned to do a snorkeling tour but due to rough currents we weren’t able to. We enjoyed the nightlife every night, the first night we went to La Factoria in Old San Juan, the second night we went to Brava night club and the third night we went to the casino of the La Concha Hotel. One thing I do regret is not trying as much Hispanic food as planned. We were able to eat breakfast at one of the small all day breakfast spots near our hotel and after our hiking tour of the tanama river we were provided with a delicious Spanish lunch. Oh I almost forgot we had dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant called Serafina, the vibe was really relaxed and classy, tab was on the pricey side but totally worth it. Let me tell you… every direction I turned my head there was beauty. The land was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, the people we’re beautiful….. ALL of the people we,re beautiful, my goodness! The locals were extremely friendly, they were very eager to give us suggestions of places to visit and things to do. I’m so very grateful that I was able to visit such an extraordinary place.

I have visited Puerto Rico twice and my favorite trip was when I stayed in “Fajardo Inn”, Fajardo. Don’t let it fool you when they show you a hotel with cheap rooms and in not popular location. The property has a tennis court, bird house where you can find dozens of types of birds, spacious territory and most importantly – its 5 min away from the ferry that takes you to Culebra Island. Flamenco beach won a title of the most 10 beautiful beaches in the world in 2010. You can surf there and enjoy drinks all day long!

A group of 7 of us went to San Juan for our friend’s bachelorette party and we had a blast! There was so much to do there, from hiking through the rainforest, to atv, salsa dance classes. It was a quick trip, from thursday to sunday, but had we been there longer, we would have definitely tried to do fly boarding, ziplining, and parasailing as well. We checked out a lot of the cool neighborhoods. La placita was had all the bars and party scene. We went there on a Friday night so it was extremely crowded, but fun. Old San Juan had a lot of history, beautiful colorful buildings and we got to see where the first pina colada was made.

I’d say what really made the trip were the locals. Everything we ended up doing came from recommendations from the locals we met at the coffeeshop and restaurants. It also helped that we stayed at an airbnb, Our host johanna left so much great information regarding places we could check out. On top of all of that her place was beautiful! 4 rooms, so 6 of us between the 3 rooms and the bride to be had the master bedroom. We also had a beautiful porch and fire pit outside. And when I say the beach was walking distance, i mean all we had to do was walk to the end of the street that turned into the beach. We stayed up one night and watched the sunset, and practically just slept on the beach the next night. Hands down san juan was one of my favorite trips. and for flights that were under $300 round trip (coming from NY) on a holiday weekend, and only having to pay $170 for 3 nights, was definitely a good deal. I’d definitely go again and stay at the same place if possible. Fun times!

Good fun is Puerto Rico. Reasonable hotels and I stayed at Quality Inn which was walking distance from the beach, as well as restaurants and night life. One thing I would recommend is the Bacardi Rum Factory Tour, good fun.

Puerto Rico (specifically Rincon, PR) is best known for surfing and beaches. Rincon beaches have beautiful clear water which is great for swimming (Shipwreck is my favorite and even has a place you can rent paddle boards!) and various surf breaks that are world-renowned (Tres Palmas, Marias, Domes). The sunsets on this part of the island are absolutely stunning, whether you are watching from the chairs in front of Beach House Restaurant (a bit pricey and food not so great, but a amazing view) or eating some fresh sushi at the Pool Bar. Rincon overall has laid-back attitude and leisurely pace. You’ll typically find a lot of people here who are seasonally skipping out on winter back home. My two favorite spots for nightlife in Rincon are Casa Verde and Tamboo. Both are restaurants during the day and turn into club-bars at night. Case Verde has incredible and relatively cheap food (their burgers are delicious!), while Tamboo is quite pricey and the food is really a hit or miss. As far as at night, Casa Verde generally has live music and is more likely to attract some locals. On the other hand, Tamboo is more club-esque with a DJ and bars on two levels. Both Casa Verde and Tamboo are about a 30 second walk away from each other so if you are in Rincon you should have a chance to check out both! Overall Rincon is a great place for a quick getaway and a much needed rest from our stressful realities.

Puerto Rico was my first solo traveling experience which opened the door to this liberating lifestyle that I now live meaning the experience was absolutely amazing. I stayed in a hotel in San Juan in their hotel zone. The bars, restaurants and shops were all within walking distance. Being my first time traveling I stayed close to bay which I recommend if you are traveling alone. However I did embark on some wild excursions for the first time including ATV and zip lining which I booked though my hotel. All-in-all Puerto Rico was amazing, relaxing and beautiful. I strongly recommend.

“Puerto Rico you ugly island “ as said by the character Anita. My “ Westside Story” fanatics will get the reference. Well baby Anita was wrong.com! PR, is B-E-A..utiful. While working on the cruise ship I was fortunate to visit Old San Juan, PR and I fell in love with the culture and the food! Mofongos and sangrias!!! If you’re a foodie that’s what you need to have! No if’s and’s or but’s. Each time I went to San Juan I made it my business to have a mofongo and sangria. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Mojitos a restaurant located in San Juan have the best mofongos and there customer service is great! The staff is super friendly and they’re reasonably priced. What I loved about visiting PR was that I still had phone service…lol

I instantly fell in love with the cobblestoned roads and colorful buildings and art that occupied the streets. At night, Old San Juan comes alive. Along the cobblestoned roads are plenty of restaurants and bars playing music. It’s a good time. It’s also a friendly and common tourist area.

There’s the San Juan National Historic Site which is about a 15 min walk from the cruise port. Its free to visit and gives colonial vibes. I did a shore excursion with Royal Caribbean to El Yunque Waterfall/Rainforest. We did a hiking trail in the rainforest and then took a swim in the waterfall. Simply majestic and tranquil. I recommend this to my nature lovers. The excursion was between $90-$100. You get your money’s worth. It lasted about 4-5 hours. Transportation to and from the ship is included. Now I visited the rainforest about 2 weeks before Hurricane Irma so I’m not sure if tours are still being conducted or the state of the rainforest.

A ella le gusta la gasolina
    Dame más gasolina
Do you remember Daddy Yankees song “Gasolina”? Throwback huh? Well right next to the cruise port is an establishment called “Gasolina”; where you can get delicious frozen and AFFORDABLE alcoholic beverages.
Puerto Rico is the place to be!!

You can not go wrong with hotel or Airbnb options for places to stay. Very affordable but also very Americanized. At times i felt like i was in Miami or Baltimore. Still a great place to visit and experience the culture. Southwest airlines usually have some great deals.

One of the attractions for traveling to Puerto Rico is affordability and the second is accessibility. With numerous airlines flying direct to Puerto Rico from major travel hubs it’s hard not to book a getaway for a long weekend in the winter months for some much needed sunshine.
I would recommend booking a car and having the freedom to travel around the island. From Del Morro, to El Yunque, Culbera, Icacos the options are endless on things to do. We snorkeled in some of the best water I’ve ever seen, zip lined, visited Old San Juan, went to some islands, ate some great food, hiked to water falls the list is endless. Most of Puerto Rico has recovered since the hurricane in 2017 so I definitely encourage people to visit and support the locals.

I am Half Puerto Rican so my love for this island is deeply rooted. Of all the places I’ve been, all over the world Puerto Rico has a special place in my heart. Where do I begin…. VENTURE OUT OF SAN JUAN! San Juan is the capital and attracts the majority of the tourists but do not be afraid to see the rest of the island. Puerto Rico has so much to offer. From cuelbra, to fajardo, to aguadilla, luqillo, ponce… the list goes on and on. Talk to the locals and spread your wings! The nightlife in Puerto Rico is amazing. We know how to party. Stay away from old San Juan if you want to party with the locals. La placita in Saturce is a great place to go. There’s tons of bars, restaurants and clubs and people dance and drink in the street all night (15 min from Isla Verde). If you want to stay in San Juan I reccomend the San Juan Water and Beach club. Very affordable 4 star hotel with an upscale, boutique vibe for a very great price. For food, make sure you try raices, la conga and we coquito. Waking up at 5am to go to cuelbra which is a small island off the cusp of Puerto Rico is totally worth it. Cuelbra is breathtaking and ranked one of the most people beaches in the world. Post hurricane, Puerto Rico is still recovering. The best way to help after a disaster is to travel and stimulate the economy! I traveled to PR after the storm and the locals were ecstatic because they need to make money! Baecation, girls trip, family trip, Puerto Rico is perfect for whatever occasion. Not to mention direct flight from JFK is 2 hours and some change. You can’t beat it! I love Puerto Rico <3

Puerto Rico is an amazing place to visit. The beaches are nice and blue. The hotel we stayed at, we could walk out and be on the beach. We were able to book a tour to El Yunque and other beaches. I tried my first mofongo in Puerto Rico and been obsessed since. It was a nice and relaxing experience.

The first time I went to PR I stayed at the Ritz Carlton hotel and also rented an Air BNB that was absolutely amazing (3 stories) with a roof, outdoor area in the kitchen. In total, I’ve been to Puerto Rico 3 times within the past 5 years! Every time I go it’s never the same, there’s so much to do here you have to go back more than once! The night life here is amazing, if you’re into having a great time like me then Puerto Rico is the place to go! Some of my favorites clubs are La Factoria, One Bar, and Senior Frogs.

If you travel west of San Juan about 45 minutes to town called Arecibo, there is Skydive Puerto Rico! It is a must for the adventure thrill-seekers and Adrenaline Junkies! I am a licensed skydiver and I have jump there two years in a row and I must say that the views are spectacular and you see a side of Puerto Rico that you would never be able to experience from the ground!

Went on a solo trip early August, prior to the hurricanes. Definitely felt very safe as a female solo traveller. Recommend staying at Mango Mansion Hostel, everyone is very friendly and great way to meet other solo travellers!
For the real adventure seekers try kayaking through the bioluminescent bay in Vieques, or make the trip to Sans Sebastian and cliff jump off the Gozalandia waterfalls (far better than that in El Yunque National Park).
The island has lots of different restaurants and shops, the food is amazing. The offers In Puerto Rico are endless, from lounging on the beaches, to getting lost on the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, to exploring the rainforests. Something for everyone!
