Doha is a small haven of peace,
A big love for the culture of this country which is arabic, whether it be :
    – Art : Museum of Islamic Art, Museum of Illusion
    – Infrastructure : Grand Mosque (the lighting effects are so beautiful at nightfall)
    – Local events : Asian Cup of Nations ,
    – The excellent food : A special preference for Yemeni and Egyptian food

Being black in Qatar is not a problem, because it is a Muslim country with different ethnic groups including black people (there are many Ethiopian, Somali, Sudanese, Chadian expatriates…)

Be careful, on the surface you might think Qatar is like Dubai, but the attractions are not the same at all.

I have deliberately booked 2 long layovers in Qatar as a visa free country for me. 1st time was in August which was extremely hot. I booked a desert safari with ocean Air travel who picked me up at the airport straight to adventure that included Camel ride , sand bashing , sand boarding and inland sea views where you can see the mountain in Saudi Arabia ??. Here is there details +9714 3582500 price ranges at $60 for 5 hrs . Then they called uber for me and I did a city tour for 3hrs at a cost of $30. Doha has amazing architecture, I took a breath at the Pearls , a must visit to the ruins at Al Zubarah Bahrain archaeological site , mosque, corniche , see little Venice of Qatar , Katara cultural village and latest museum of Qatar. Most of the site visit are free of charge . For local food or affordable food head over to Souq waqif.

I enjoyed the city tour of the same thing when I visited in January when the temperature has dropped to 20 degrees ( it was 48 degrees in August) so if you plan to go just one .. choose the right season .

Qatar is a nice little country with a desert that meets the sea with only one other country in the world that has this feature in Namibia. The adventure in the desert are amazing and not far away from the city of Doha, which is also rich in history and a lot of city tourism cites to check out where u experience a great deal of Islamic art and architecture.
Definitely recommended to visit in the winter mints not in during there summer as it get crazy hot.
It’s easy to get around with a underground metro system that pretty much drops u off at all the cites. It’s very cheap compare to other metros around the world. But also a lot of other transport modes of taxis including Uber.
It’s a great place to as everything is state of the art

Who else is interested to see how the World Cup in 2022 is going to turn out?

Doha is the city I visited twice. I think of it as an upscale Abu Dhabi. It is $$$$. I mean they have the highest income per capita in the world.

Things to do: 1. Take in some of the awesome buildings that make up the Doha skyline. These are actually pretty cool. 2. Walk the corniche, take in the skyline, and visit the Pearl. 3. The Museum of islamic Art.

Brunch: It’s a thing. Just pick a hotel and go! I will help you. The St. Regis.

Nightlife: 1. There are a few places in the W (perhaps my favorite W in the world) that are really good. 2. Z lounge in the Kempinski is good for drinks and offers the best view of the city skyline. It is on the 61st floor. 3. Pretty much every decent hotel offers a good bar, club, and/or live music.

Traveling while Black: Hard to gauge given my limited interaction with locals. Like most arab countries your are dealing with imported laborers/workers.

Interesting fact: The women wear very revealing/dress sexy under their abayas. No I am not being a perv. Ask any female expat. Just in case I had to defend my comment. You never know.

Didn’t really do much while there, it’s very expensive. I have a lot of airline friends from Qatar so we would go out a lot for dinner. A lot of American restaurants. Sorry not much help this time but still a beautiful country

Qatar is an amazing an beautiful country. If you need a visual representation of Doha, just think of Dubai, just a smaller version. I’ve lived here for close to 2-3 years now and it’s by far the best place in the Middle East I’ve ever lived. If you are an adventure seeker then head into the dessert and get lost. Go dune bashing, ride some camels or even spend the night. If nightlife is your thing then there are numerous clubs to entertain you every night of the week. If you want to chill on the beach then there’s that too. Doha pretty much has it all. Traffic and HEAT is probably the worst thing here but outside of that it’s not a bad place to be

I visited Qatar April 2019. I actually intentionally wasn’t visiting Qatar, however, I a 19 hour layover here so I went off to explore within that time frame.
Doha, Qatar is known for long layovers so there’s soo much to do there. I scheduled a desert tour which included a camel ride, sand dune bashing and visiting the Saudi Arabia border Saudi Arabia border, which were all great experiences. However I will day with sand dune bashing be aware that, you can become extremely nauseous from all of the movement so try not to eat 2-3 hours before going. Also the desert was extremely sandy so wear something you don’t mind messing up. After my desert tour I took a tour of the town. I saw all of the historical buildings in the cities then went to a hookah lounge and had some great Arabic food. I found all of these tours at a kiosk in the airport. I will say the people aren’t as friendly so don’t take it too personal, I sure did at first lol. I’m actually not visiting Qatar, I’ve been living and working here for the past 6 months. I have mixed views and a love hate relationship with Qatar.

Its perfect pretty much any vacationer, except those who prefer cold environments. The city, although small, has multiple top notch landscapes from a the beautiful city buildings, to the beaches, and the desert. The city also includes a never ending night life with clubs open literally every night.

PROS: Beautiful ambiance, relatively affordable, great restaurants, safe (in terms of crime), pretty much every hotel is also a night club which can be convenient, broad spectrum of things to do, and the weather is warm year round

CONS: wreckless driving, drinks are insanely expensive & you can’t buy a bottle unless you live here, weird hours for stores, strict Arabic culture & customs, rude people

TIP: Be cognizant of local holidays like EID and Ramadan, alot of things are shut down

The Qatar Arabian Adventures Overnight Desert Safari is an experience of a Lifetime.

The 16 HR adventure begins by a pick up from one of the experienced drivers (mine was Nasir – a fun and energetic guide) . The 75 KM drive takes you through the city and the country side of Qatar. There’s a brief stop at Sealine beach for the drivers to deflate their tyres and then you’re off to the first stop where you can Camel ride through the dunes of the desert.

The adventure continues through the marvelous Desert of Qatar – where you’ll pass dunes, race drivers and residents enjoying their desert. The drive will take you to the incredible inland sea of Khor Al-Udaid which is also the Watar -Saudi Border ( with an opportunity to take a dip between the two country’s) . The sunset is a marvel with an opportunity to get to the campsite enjoy a shisha as well as a full on Barbeque meal served by the awesome staff on the Campsite.

The evening is Cold – so dress warm . The evenings are filled with conversations and story telling at the bonfire , with music in the background.

Truly an experience of a lifetime!

The adventure ends at 7AM where you are taken back to the city .
