NON STOP ADVENTURE!!!! Our tour guide Nelson was absolutely AMAZING! @nelsoncampos26 on IG) He introduced us to a drink called horchata. You can literally drink it with anything. The food everywhere was delicious and everything was super inexpensive.

We hiked the Santa Ann volcano, slid down the rainbow slide (located inside a restaurant called Picnic Steak House about 15-20 minutes from San Salvador city. Cost about $5 USD), rode bikes in the sky across a tight rope (aka Bicycle Zipline), and swung on a very high swing (with a huge initial drop). The zip lining and the swing cost $5 or $10, can’t quite remember.

El Salvador is truly a place to experience. The people, the food, and the adventure.

I had a long lay over in San Salvador en route to Bolivia so I opted to take a four hour tour offered by a local travel company out of the airport. The cost was $40US, from 9am to 1pm, which I thought was quite reasonable, as it also covered the $10US visa pass needed to leave the airport and actually enter El Salvador.
The ride from the airport to the city center was about 35 minutes so not that bad. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable on the history of the country, agriculture, religion, architecture, etc. El Salvador had a similar history to most of the Americas, discovered and colonized, sought independence etc. So of the architecture though was quite special, especially the “Church of the Rosary”.
I would recommend taking the quick tour if you have the time to spare.
