I spent 3 weeks in Sao Paulo as part of my solo travels in South America. I enjoyed So Paulo but it is a huge metropolitan city, largest in the Americas with 12 million people and 22 more million in the surrounding areas. There is a plenty to do from museums to shopping to restaurants and city tours. It is quite expensive however. Id recommend using public transportation and to eat at local restaurants to reduce costs.

My review is heavily dated being that I visited Brazil back in 2014 for the World Cup.

Things to do: 1. Futbol museum. An absolute must for futbol/soccer fans. 2. Nightlife: Villa Madalena. Not sure how it is during regular weekends outside of the World Cup. It was super packed but a really good time. Bar and clubs galore. AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!! 3. Arena Corinthians is a good place to tour a futbol stadium. It is the local sports club od Sao Paolo. 4. Parque de Agua Branca and Trilha Do Pau Brasil. A cool place to stroll around. Check out some local Capoeira and have a cool treat (ice cream of some sort from an old machine). I did not like it. I also made it out to a small beachtown named Ubatuba. So cool.

Traveling while black: It is Brazil. Half the time people thought I was Brazilian. A non-issue.

Lots of shopping. Sao Paulo is more of business than pleasure so there is alot of traffic and action. There are many shops ,restaurants and a nice mall. Beco de Batman has tons of street art to see. Food is good too.

If you’re into Dope art work, there’s graffiti and wall art everywhere. You find the best in Beco de Batman and top bars. You’ll get the best view once you finish the hike at Trilha do Pai Zè. Museu Afro Brasil had some interesting Black art right next to a skate park too.

Sap Paulo is a very nice place to visit.
The people are very friendly and the food will have you very content as well. There are loads of things to try out while in the city and the good thing is that wether you are looking for something more local or something more familiar (pizzas, burgers and etc) you’ll be happy to know that there are places selling food almost on every street so you’ll be able to satisfy your hunger easily without a problem.
