Croatia its one of the best places to visit while black because it opens your eyes to new and exciting cultures. Starting with Dubrovnik, and split, Croatia has tons of waterscapes, affordable local eats, and hvar specifically is known as a party destination. One of the best way to travelers with a group of black entrepreneurs. When I went out with traveled with sparkled and 30 black entrepreneurs on a chartered yhact and had a great time.

    We loved Split. We visited in August 2021. It’s right on the water. We did a day trip from Dubrovnik. I recommend a walking tour;
    – walk the Riva, it’s right outside of the Palace
    – Diocletian’s Palace – it’s free to enter, it’s a Roman castle, that has a church and many living quarters that are nice to see
    – We ate at a bistro in the middle of the city and I recommend the seafood risotto, the sell it many places, but they use squid ink, so it comes out black. Very tasty
    – Also along the Riva there are “Dalmatian treat” vendors – try one of them, it’s a very dressed up crepe, very good
    – if we go back, I’d hit up the beaches, we did not partake, but very clean white sand and not too crowded

Split felt the most diverse of all the cities we visited in Croatia. We only had an issue once, while at lunch we noticed two teens eyeing our bags, etc., we let them know we were not to be played with, but that was all.

Pricing wasn’t too bad with the exchange and we paid with credit cards, so we didn’t need cash on hand.

Split is a beautiful city here are some tips and things to be aware of:
As a black traveller there were moments were we got alot of stares and there wasnt alot of diversity, i dont know if its maybe the time we went as we went in July but then again thats the busiest time in Croatia. I know this made my travelling partner uncomfortable but that aint never stopped us we are here to see the world, the world must just used to all this melanin!
In split I think a maximum of 3 days is okay and i would advise going to see the other islands, there’s no need to book in advance of your trip as there are cheaper options whereby you can get a boat cruise or a ferry to the islands. The islands i would recommend would be Brac,Hvar and Solta (PS: there are some tours that include all 3 islands so that would be a good option just know it will be tiring as its a whole day thing)
By the Split Pomegrade we hired a bicycle (you could also get a motor bike if you nit that fit) and drove to Kasuni beach which is amazing!
Big Tip: Croatia doesnt really have sandy beaches so be prepared for rocky beaches, they sell water shoes, actually i even saw someone swimming with Crocs and it looked like it did the job, yes swimming with shoes is weird but even inside the water there are rocks on some beaches, so stay woke :)
A restaurant with good views (not the cheapest) but good views and music is Roof 68!

When you think of Split, Croatia think Miami on a budget except it’s 10 times better cause you’re surrounded by the adriatic and super chilled people. You could accomplish everything that needs to be done in Split in 3 to 4 days from exploring the Diocletans palace and it’s rich history and the phenomenal well preserved architecture to island hopping close to Split. You don’t need a car everything is walkable that’s how small the city is! The nightlife is great! The DJs at Central club knew what they were doing and the food on the promenade is all great so pick any restaurant. The greatest adventure I went on was driving 2.5hrs to Plitvice national park and it was the most beautiful experience. 16 lakes all in one with waterfalls galore all natural and the contrast of the lake against the sky, it’s just magical. It is a good drive but well worth it, however, if 2.5hrs is too long then consider going to Krka national park which is smaller but only a 1.5hr drive from Split. Splurge on lavender it’s widely grown in Croatia. Style wise; nice summer dresses, shorts and flats are all you need. It’s a very laid back but really good vibe. Summers are pretty hot but what place isn’t??? It’s certainly one of those places I’ll visit again.

Definitely the best experience I’ve had as a black woman. Not only were the locals kind and ready to help, but my best friend and I experienced certain privileges like getting into clubs and VIP sections for free without asking. We were at a shopping centre when the store buzzer went off and we came to a complete halt waiting for the security to check us and our purchases only to have him smile at us and politely wave us to proceed while he went to check the 2 white teenage girls next to us. There are a couple more experiences that left us in awe but those two stand out the most.

Split is generally so gorgeous and there’s always so much to do and experience in the historic town. We were there for 2 and a half weeks and there was never a shortage of things to do, adventures to go on and parties to go to and everything was very affordable (this is a big deal coming from someone who deals in South African Rands). Hands down the top 3 cities I’ve ever been to.

Relaxation; Split gives you the type of relaxation you would expect from a tropical island. The weather is always nice, not cold and not too hot. The amount of sun is just right to give you a beautiful tan. For summer people, Croatia is like heaven as a vacation spot. The clothing style is very laid back and casual. Foreigners can just chill while shopping and walking around on the streets. Though most turists prefer the calming sea breeze. And so they often visit the beaches. An island like Croatia is the right choice if it’s relaxation you want. You can almost feel like you in the caribean.

Croatia is full of surprises. I was based at Dubrovnik and I went to Slit by rented car in 3 hours. The way to get there was amazing, the view is spectacular. Slit has a beautiful beach (Bacvice beach in the centre of the city) very famous and people are very helpful and respectful.

Split Croatia was beautiful! The water was incredible. Definitely try to rent a boat and take in the magnificent blue Adriatic Sea . If you’re Afraid if the water , definitely rent out some atvs or scoters to see the sights ! Also head over the Hvar to carpe diem club for a beach party.

I spent 4 days in Split. Enjoyed walking to Marjan Hill for views over the city, exploring Diocletian palace, and walking along Riva Promenade. I also took a Game of Thrones tour. I took a day trip to Solta island by ferry just to explore the area. I was supposed to take a bee keeping class, but confused the date. Be sure to go to the morning markets, try the good seafood, and buy the lavender products. I walked around late during the night solo, and felt safe the entire time. There is live music and many bars open during the night. I rented an airbnb about 10 minutes walk from the palace gates. I rented a car from the airport and drove to Krka falls and Plitvice lakes. Krka falls is beautiful and I enjoyed the hikes there. Be sure to get to Plitvice early in the morning to take photos of the scenery without people and to avoid crowds. By the afternoon, the pathways are crowded with people. Croatia is a beautiful country.

Split is a very nice city as far as civilisation is concern. I was there on a training camp and people were not that open to black people especially, (which is quite understandable since most of the Balkan cities has been very racist, but it’s alright, you won’t face any racist acts or so)

The city has nice beaches, food, very historic attraction. It’s worth a try at least once a lifetime
