Mombasa is known for its sandy beaches, but there are some things you can do that will get your blood pumping, during your stay.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whale Watching in Watamu: Recently added to something to do in Mombasa. During Humpback whales season, you can rent a boat. The only place that I know of is Hemingway’s Watamu,\u00a0 \u00a0they do offer packages of whale watching from around $450.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n

Deep-Sea Fishing: Most hotels on the North Coast, of Mombasa, do offer deep sea fishing for their guests. Hotels like Hemingway\u2019s Watamu, offer expeditions to their hotel guests. https:\/\/www.watamumarine.co.ke\/whale-watching\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUP Excursions: Tribe Sports in Watamu offers different types of activities, you can do. This is different from the usual Kite and Wind Surfing they offer. You can rent out a paddleboard and do the following: –<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coral Garden Snorkeling: The price is about $45 per person; the price excludes the KWS Marine Park fees. You will paddle out with your guide to a snorkeling spot and explore the gardens. This trip does include the snorkeling equipment.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mida Creek Trip: Watamu has the privilege of having an Inland creek that is surrounded by a mangrove forest. On this excursion, you will be able to explore all the streams that feed into the creek. Price is $50 per person and also this does depend on tides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dolphin Sup Trips: This is one of Kenya\u2019s new Signature Experiences. This is a unique experience, that someone has to experience. Watamu is lucky enough to have resident dolphin pods. Dolphins in Kenya are mostly found off the Watamu reef and the species are Indo Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin, Rare Indo Pacific Humpback Dolphin, and Spinner Dolphin. The prices are $80 for an adult and $50 for a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rent a Quad and Buggy Tours: In Diani, you can rent a Quad or buggy and explore Kwale from passing a local school and also a local watering hole, you also get to experience a local market, have a picnic on a cliff with the view of the ocean then drive back to Diani on a different route to see the view of Mombasa. Watamu Turtle Watch: The Kenyan North Coast and South Coast is home to laying the ground for some sea turtles. An organization in Watamu called Local Ocean Conservation, which is a private non-profit organization that heads the protection of the sea turtle, the mangroves, and the ocean life. They offer tours from Day Visits which you can visit to learn about the work they do and they might be a possibility during your visit you may be able to see a sea turtle that might be with their rehabilitation center this cost $50 per person. They also have Eco Visit which and run between 2week -4 weeks and you will be involved in their day-to-day operations. Bonus Tip: Sunset Dhow Cruise: Without a doubt one of the things you should experience when visiting Mombasa. This activity used to be only reserved for visitors when staying in Lamu Island, but in recent months Mombasa Island and also Kilifi, Watamu have had privately owned dhows venture into the business. Although Tamarind Hotel, does offer a 3-course meal on their dhow from sunset, it is a bit on the expensive side and doesn\u2019t give the authentic feel to the dhow rides that are currently being offered.
