Had a great time when I stayed with my family in Brampton in order to go to the Caribana 2025 parade in Toronto. There was a nice vibe in the whole metro area.
Brampton has a significant Black population, which was recorded as 85,305 people in the 2021 Census, making them the second-largest visible minority group after South Asians. This represented about 13.1% of Brampton’s total population, highlighting the city’s substantial diversity.
The nearby major city, Toronto has the largest Black population in Canada by a significant margin, followed by Montreal and Ottawa-Gatineau, according to data from Statistics Canada, with Toronto’s Black community making up a large percentage of the country’s total Black population. The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is home to many Black residents, particularly from Caribbean and African backgrounds, with suburbs like Brampton and Ajax also seeing large numbers.
