Brinnon, Washington

Visiting Brinnon Washington, went to Geoduck Restaurant and Lounge. I went with my boyfriend who is Samoan, we were treated horribly by the server. She was extremely rude, could not tell you her name since she never told us. She was aggressive in taking our order, made us feel rushed, we were halfway done eating before she even thought to bring napkins, never asked if we needed anything, provided no condiments, literally threw the napkins onto the table and ran away. She did not even look our direction the entire time we were there.

All of which I would excuse truthfully. Except the fact that it was ONLY us getting this service. The only table with a brown person at it.

I gave her a chance to prove that this was not outright racism. I watched her with the rest of the restaurant. Not a single table did she treat this way outside of ours. She smiled and talked with other tables, checked in on them, all the expected server behaviors. Which was when I decided her behavior is NOT excusable as just being a bad server or a server having a bad day and/or being overwhelmed.

Her attempt at damage control when it came time to pay did not impress me. I can see you are alone, that’s ok we understand. Food items get forgotten, also ok and understand. Busy and forgot the napkins and ketchup, we get it that is ok. Outright racism, not ok.
