Corinth, Mississippi

When traveling Hwy 72 through north MS, there are not alot of cities its alot of little rural towns with one stoplight .But if your final destination is Birmingham Al, you’re still a ways a way. Corinth MS seems like its a big enough city to be tolerable for some quick shopping or a bite to eat while traveling but its bad out there.

A couple of yeaes ago I was driving thru corinth and suddenly had a flat tire, in the middle of the night and the rental roadside assistance was being so slow that my party wanted to book a hotel and wait to fix it in the morning. It was like 1AM. This “city” had 0 hotels with room vacancies. Every hotel was “booked” up. It wasn’t a holiday weekend. It felt like a refusal of service.
That was the first time this rest stop town gave me the ick. The second time was just a few days ago. I had buisness traveling through and had an hour to kill time so my party and I went out to breakfast. The mom and pop diners were all named to feel “not for black customers” – white trolley diner. Etc etc. So we ended up trying huddle house. You got, confederate flag trucks in the parking lot. Waitress literally had meth fangs and a boil on her head. The food was awful and we were being stared at. Salty pancakes and 0 customer service by the staff. No lie.
The refusal of good customer service and integrity is what set me to write this review. I dont know what its like to live as a black person in this town, but as a traveler I’d say get out of that part Mississippi when possible. I never felt like i wasnt safe but i definitely didnt feel welcomed.

TL;DR – you’re fine to get Gas n snacks but you may unlock interactions that are inflammatory.
