The Redwoods are beautiful and the walk along the beach in Crescent city was a peaceful experience. Be aware that this town only has 0.6% people of color. Although no one was outwardly rude, there was a feeling of feeling out of place and to be quick about grabbing items from the store and eating in the restaurant (Denny’s). Small town, not much here to do except hike through the Redwood Forest and walk along the COLD beach.

Traveling While Black
I have visited Muir Woods several times. Being in the redwoods makes you feel connected to nature. These trees can grow up too 367 feet in height. Talk about feeling small. It’s just a quick drive from San Francisco. My uncle and I enjoyed taking a walk in these woods. There are wheelchair accessible trails and a gift shop in the middle of the forest. I encourage you to take a moment of silence to really forest bathe and soak up some good energy.
