I went to Dallas for the solar eclipse and really enjoyed the experience as well as the city. It has a rich history, great food, and very scenic parks. Specifically on the history, the area of Deep Ellum has a rich history on early black citizens of Dallas as the state and city were growing. I learned more about this history from walking around the Deep Ellum area and visiting the African American Museum of Dallas.

Additionally, I went the Perot Museum of Nature and Science as well as the The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, which also told more about history and science of the nature around Dallas and the world. Since it was packed during the eclipse, I stayed at an effieicney under and AirBNB, and really enjoyed it and recommend it. (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1042755937240011463

Dallas has a lot of great local foods! I went there for the eclipse, and along the way, I tried a lot of restaurants, and here are the ones I recommend. Most are near downtown Dallas.

Terry Black’s Barbecue (3025 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226) – I highly recommend the brisket, pinto beans, and their black margarita, the mac and cheese was okay (not baked)

Rodeo Goat (1926 Market Center Blvd, Dallas, TX 75207) – Really great burgers, can customize or get their specials, also a really good whiskey lemonade (BLTX)

Whataburger – I thought it was mid but you will hear raving reviews from Texans, so might as well try it

Las Palmas Tex-Mex (2708 Routh St, Dallas, TX 75201) – really good queso and tacos, nice vibes as well

Torchy’s Tacos – a really great chain for tacos, also has vegan options

Monkey King Noodle Company (2933 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226) – nice spot for quick noodles

It’s been amazing! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there. The traffic is interesting, but nonetheless you can never be bored while being in Dallas. They’ve even sent me a list of places to check out! I plan on seeing all of them once I create the time.

If you haven’t tried Texas barbecue Pecan Lodge is a great place to start! Located right downtown it’s a perfect stop while enjoying your walk . From my understand this place stays open until they run out of meat and YES they run out . While the line is usually out the door if you’re eating with a group you have the option of skipping the line by order the troth which pretty much is a sample platter that will feed a group of five comfortably . If you’re a meat lover this is a must .

Dallas has many things to do. Their is uptown Dallas where their is food spots, bars and shopping. Downtown Dallas has a great Museums, Parks such as Kyle Warren where there is food trucks and shaded sitting that I love! I also love Plano legacy west area there are nice shops for shopping and food spots! I love the atmosphere there especially at night it is so pretty! My favorite food spot is Earl’s it’s a bar and restaurant! The food is amazing!

Dallas is very diverse and full of activity. I love how in the past several years the city has started to make attractions in less appealing neighborhoods. For example the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge that is now a big city attraction. The city is making an effort to better all areas of Dallas and it is something I really appreciate. Other than the big city feel and the long list of great food, Dallas offers plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to fulfill the needs of most of its citizens. Something I would like to see change is the focus of funds from inner-city living, to compensate for the poverty that surrounds the outskirts of the city.
