There are so many things to do in Miami! But before you go, it’s important to know where you’re staying. My group and I pulled up to an Airbnb in the design district and the people around us (mostly white Cubans) were not pleased with our presence and made it known. We went to another property a few minutes walking away and had no issues. Tip: Research the area you’re considering; Consider finding ways to indicate your interest in Black-owned restaurants or something that may indicate how you identify (if it’s not clear to the hosts) just to gauge the interaction before you book. Once you find a place to stay that feels physically and psychologically safe, there are a plethora of fun places to go and things to do. For low frills fun, we went to a bar called Gramps. We also brunched at Tap 42. We spent some time in little Haiti at a yoga-inspired class. We also checked out some of the Black owned restaurants, like Red Rooster Overtown.
The one thing I wanted to write about for affordability is the incredibly expensive valet services. Our hotel had self parking closed, so we HAD to valet for $30. I do typically prefer valet so I don’t have to carry my own bags but I only had a backpack since it was just an overnight.
But also, when we went to Miami Beach we valeted to venture down Española Way. It was $40 for 4 hours and when we got back 30 minutes late they charged us an extra $30! I b*tched and complained but they were relentless. Miami Beach is definitely a tourist money pit.
Also, I recently spent less than 30 hours in Miami and experienced 3 fantastic restaurants.
The first was “Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita”. It’s located on S Miami Ave in the Brickell neighborhood. Historically the venue was a firehouse but was repurposed for the restaurant. One of the fire poles is actually still inside. The ambience was super chic and absolutely “Miami-esque” with lots of flowers, open air patio, etc. They’re known for their cornbread…. I know what you’re thinking.. “cornbread? in Miami?” Yes. And it was sooooooo good! It’s a must order. The other cool feature on their menu is that every entree includes an appetizer. So there’s plenty of food to share and experience a lot on the menu. My boyfriend and I shared the caes-art salad, Mexican ox tail tacos, paella and black truffle linguine. everything was finely prepared and presentation at the table was thoughtful and elegant.

The second restaurant was a brunch spot called Crazy About You. This is the sister to Dolores, so you’ll get consistency in ambience, food and service. Crazy About You is waterfront of Biscayne Bay located in The Mark on Brickell Bay Dr.
Here we had the cornbread again (yes it’s that good), the very angry potatoes, smoked mahi mahi dip, the wagyu burger and wagyu churrasco (skirt steak). Everything was delicious and watching the water vessels out at sea while dining was really relaxing.

The last spot we ate at was Mercato della Pescheria on Miami Beach on Española Way.
We had been sitting across from it at the cigar lounge and I noticed how patrons were enjoying their food so we cancelled reservations at a different sushi spot to try the Italian seafood. We started with the chef’s special seafood tower which included a dozen oysters, grilled octopus, a dozen colossal shrimp and a whole lobster. We probably could have stopped there but we each had an entree too. He had the charred tuna and I had the whole snapper. Both were delectable. We were glad we cancelled the sushi reservation. lol. To finish our fantastic server gave us homemade limoncello shots that were so good I almost changed my mind about fruity drinks.

I hope someone else gets to enjoy these gastronomical experiences.
When traveling to Miami make sure you stay close to ocean drive. Many events and people will be there that are very supportive. The only thing is that you do have to be aware of swiping cards. I would recommend to TAKE OUT CASH and bring it with you but don’t keep all of it on you. Make sure you are aware and keep everything close to you at all time because they can swipe your information but Miami is definitely a great place to go and connect
South Beach Miami is a cultural hotspot with a lot a different flavors and flare, but one of the largest cultures there is Cuban, and along with that comes their cuisine. Although it has many locations, Havana 1957 has some of the best Cuban food in the area. Their menu is extensive with a lot of variety and the empanadas are incredible.
Great place. Highly recommended. Vist south beach when you go. Check out wynwood nice place to eat. Check out overtown it’s a black historic town. If you like wildlife go check out everglades. Miami Airport is an great Airport easy to get to and get around.
Had a great experience in Miami. The food at house of Mac was top tier. The customer service was amazing. The owner was friendly. The ambiance was really nice as well. I cant wait to go back and visit. The tour boat ride i went on was very long and boring. I wouldn’t do the boat tour again
When visiting Miami, you MUST consider staying at Pharrell Williams’s The Goodtime Hotel. You will be transported from the minute you enter the lobby by the ambience, lush/designer/tropical getaway decor, and most of all the service. I cannot say enough about the service. The staff is attentive, alert, present minded and welcoming. The service is genuine and not forced. You will notice their standards are upheld on the Happy side of life (*wink), and exceed 90% of other places to be encountered. I honestly let go of the outside world while staying ….. The lobby starts with an enclosed courtyard out front. You’ll probably find yourself back there, just lingering and going with the flow. The pool and the DJ on the rooftop are excellent. I admit, I wish there was more dancing. I’m a 90’s R&B fanatic. The “South Beach bodies” are too cool for that! But their presence won’t bother you at all if you don’t have one. Do yourself a favor and spring for the dining options at the hotel, and you won’t regret spending your time there.
Miami is the perfect short getaway for relaxation, culture & sunshine. We all know about South Beach, which is beautiful but often overwhelming & filled with tourists. Miami has a lot to offer outside of the main attractions. Most local Black folk hang at the northern part of the beach (125th street area and up). While up north, for art and culture, visit Moca (Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami) which features both local and national artists. For authentic Black Culture, visit Overtown to learn about Miami’s Black History. For hotel accommodations, book Dunn’s Josephine Hotel for a black boutique experience. Visit Hampton Art Lovers, a black-owned gallery started by three friends who went to Hampton. Pop into Red Rooster for ambiance and delicious food. They usually have a live band during brunch on the weekend and definitely try the Fried Yardbird & Biscuits! For a nighttime vibe, check out Red Rooster’s upstairs lounge on Saturday nights for AfroBeats & Amapiano. The Urban right next door is a Black-Owned outdoor space that has everything from events to concerts. Miami is the perfect city to have a fun long weekend. Whether it’s solo, girls trip, bro trip, or family. Enjoy the sunshine and playtime.
When visiting Miami there are so many black owned business to support. I love going to world famous house of Mac they have the best wings and Mac and cheese. If your in Overtown I love going to Red Roosters Restaurant the ambiance is beautiful and the oxtail there is amazing! Helpful tip to avoid Miami traffic especially if your not staying in Miami you can hop on the Brightline Train.
8/11/2024 – Visited Little Haiti in Miami with Key2Mia and had an amazing time! Tried out an incredible black-owned pop-up restaurant called Meet the Veggies and the food was absolutely delicious. We also got to see remnants of a segregation wall as part of the tour, which was eye-opening. This tour is so informative and gives great insight into the rich Black history of Miami. Can’t wait to explore more!
Despite what’s going on in Florida as a whole. South Beach & Miami Beach feel worlds away. It’s a different vibe on South Beach. Perhaps, it’s because of the number of tourists that descend on South Beach annually. However, I’ve always felt safe on South Beach and see a diverse crowd of people. I see a lot of Black folks as well as Hispanic folks vacationing and living in Miami. So I say, don’t let other parts of Florida deter you from getting a tropical vacation vibe. Tip: if you want a quieter part of South Beach then stay between 16th – 24th streets on Collins Ave. Some of my favorite beachfront hotels include Loews Miami Beach Hotel and The 1 Hotel South Beach. Safe Travels!
Welcome to Miami (in my will smith voice lol)! If you’re in Miami with your girls or your bae you must visit Nikki Beach. It is nothing but vibes. You can ask for a table or reserve a cabana. The cabanas are more fun. Although the cabanas cost more they are well worth it. You can order bottle service, hookah, and food. If you’re a seafood person like me make sure you order them crab cakes! They are one of my fave thing on the menu. If you don’t want a bottle they also have very good mixed drinks. For my IG girlies and gents Nikki beach is one of the best places for a good photo op as well. It’s also right by the beach so if you want to go to the beach right after, it’s completely accessible. Enjoy!!
So I got the memo about we’re not supposed to be traveling to FL a day before departure. I couldn’t break my sons heart and not take him to Rolling Loud as it was his birthday gift and appreciation gift for making straight As the entire school year while also playing soccer. Thankfully we didn’t experience any negative interactions but we did experience first hand a community come together. The event took place at Hard Rock and I’m sure this isn’t new for surrounding communities to have increased and gridlocked traffic. The innovators that we are, offered parking in their yards for a price cheaper than the stadium, gave rides in golf carts to the gates so there wouldn’t be prolonged waiting and even came back after the event was over to bring you back to the car. I’m sure this isn’t new for them but it was my first time seeing anything like this. If EVERYBODY EATS B was a person they definitely were that weekend. They sold every necessity u could think of from water, towels, drinks, food, and other things to enjoy your time lol. While inside the festival I got to enjoy these black owned food places:
Trill Burger-also got to meet Bun B. The best fries I’ve ever had and the burger was so good couldn’t even tell it was vegan. The also had regular hamburgers which my son said was really good too
Granny Bzz chicken and waffles-if u go anywhere near Miami u have to go here. Had hot lemon pepper wings and THE BEST strawberry lemonade of my life!
I went to Miami in July for a day trip and we tried to stay on as much of a budget as we could. First, we got an AirBnB in Brickell. BIG MISTAKE!!! Please be cautious with AirBnB’s in and around Miami because, especially as two young women staying & traveling alone in Miami, some parts do not feel safe especially at night. Someone ended up squatting at our AirBnB and trying to break in while we were in the process of getting our money back. So be very cautious with AirBnB’s. We got a nice hotel in Brickell though, Atwell Suites. It was relatively new and paid for by AirBnB. It was in a great location to not only enjoy Brickell, but also get to South Beach an Uber that wasn’t insanely expensive. We could walk to SexyFish, a popular spot in Miami now, from our hotel and it only took 5 minutes! I recommend this stay!
Miami is always a go to destination within the US when want to just hit a good beach and live life up. Getting to Miami is easy as it’s a major international hub so flights always in and out at affordable rates. There are so many areas to explore depending on what your preference is for your trip. You can rest and relax, find adventure, have great night life Miami has it all. The cost of a Miami trip can be low if you’re on a more low key vacation and it can also soar way up if you’re trying to live your best life. That’s the fun of Miami I have been so many times and done trips on every end of the spectrum and had fun on all of them. BETA TEST
Miami AKA my second home,
Come from France and discovered Miami 7 years ago. I wouldn’t know exactly how to describe it but the first few moments I spent in Miami made me feel that special vibe.
Miami is dynamic, warm and rich in culture (American but also Caribbean). No matter what kind of mood you’re looking for, you’ll find what you need! Shopping? Dancing? Sports? Beach? Chilling around the pool? Art? Culture? Luxurious and prestigious places? Unexpected encounters? Good food? Fun? Party? Good vibes? Sports/adventures? Water activities? Warm climate all year round? Ok Miami is the place to find it all
Since Miami is the place to go for partying, I recommend : Kiki on the River and Nikki beach for Sunday brunch, Story and Cameo for nightclubs, Wood tavern for backyard parties (such a real vibe) and KOD if you intrested in club with… dancers
Going to the beach while in Miami is a must, I like Miami Beach (touristic) and walk or exercise along the coastline is beautiful, Ocean Drive street is nearby and that’s always a fun area for drinks and dining. During the day I recommend a free walking tour, make sure Little Havana is visited. If you like the beach as me, a day tour to Key West is fun and a great way of meeting people, drinks and great fresh seafood.
My most recent trip to Miami was during spring break earlier in March…Before this whole…you know…pandemic.
Whew! If you know, YOU KNOW. Miami is always a vibe. The best time to go in my opinion is during Spring Break, Memorial weekend and or during Carnival in October if you’re there to turn up obviously. First stop is usually on the strip (ocean drive blvd) in South Beach and from there you can go to the beach, eat at one of the many bars/restaurants on the strip (try to go on happy hours).
I also love stopping by Fingalicking, The wings stop, ChefCreole(in little Haiti) and many other black owned restaurants.
Wynwood is also a great area to hang out and go out.
There’s so much to do in Miami! Visit Little Haiti, the BEST food is there, the cultural center is very lively with music and activities. Check out Wynwood, I must warn that it is always pretty busy though. Also visit Española Way, it’s my favorite part of Miami Beach. Enjoy the Caribbean touch that the city has and soak up all of the culture!
Whenever I’m in Miami, visiting Little Haiti is an obvious must. It’s a neighborhood in which Haitians and Haitian-Americans have preserved Haitian culture for generations. But where is the town going? Currently, it’s experiencing one of the largest waves of evictions due to soaring rent prices. Real estate investors and developers have taken interest in Little Haiti because of its central Miami location. This push to transform the neighborhood into “Lemon City” or “Magic City” is forcing local businesses to close or relocate and leaving others without homes. This brings me to remind us all that investment and support in our own, in each other, and in ourselves – even at the most micro levels – make huge differences in a community. Let’s keep spreading love and light to one another and challenge ourselves to do even better?❤
So much to do there!!! Highly recommend
Miami vice city… This city is mad. You can play it soft or rough. I prefer a relax point on view of this city.
Things you must do:
Day 1 Wynwood walls , design district and Ocean drive
Day 2 Surise on ocean drive Keys Byscane light house, Islamorada wahoo bar (brunch place open at 11am) with great waterfront view. Robbin leisure spot on islamorada. You spent there
Day 3 Key west town visit and Bahia honda state park
Day 4 Visit ice cream Museum and Everglades National park
Day 5 Cap on Saint Augustine, oldest Town of US, Spanish influence and colonisation.
Day 6 Peanut Islan day
Day 7 Outlet shopping at Swagrass mill mall
Enjoy your stay, make the most out of it
Miami is definitely my favorite city in the US! I’ve been several times and usually stay in South Beach but I decided to opt for something different and stayed in Brickell/Downtown. We got an Airbnb at the Guild and OMG it was the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at. The building is half hotel/half apartment so it has a more homey feel to it. On arrival we got a personalized tour of the building and it literally has everything you’d ever want. There’s a rooftop pool, a bar, a gym with wall to wall glass overlooking the city, a restaurant, a cafe, a park for dogs. You literally don’t even have to leave the building lol. Our room was spectacular with beautiful modern decor and an amazing balcony view. The building is located right off Biscayne Blvd, the American Airlines arena is walking distance and Bayside Marketplace is literally right across the street. There’s also scooters everywhere so we opted to ride on the scooters rather then take an Uber. Overall I definitely recommend booking a stay at the Guild in Miami!
Airbnb was $85/night before fees & taxes. Here’s the link: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/31564616?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id=164718825
Lived in Miami for 3 years and I took it for granted. There’s so much culture, diversity, and good food to be had there. My favorite nightclub has to be Blackbird (I’ve never had a bad time there)! Try croquettas and Columbian food while you’re out there too. My favorite beach that is far away from tourists as possible is Sunny Isles beach! So quiet and so open. If you like nude beaches, go a couple of blocks down to Haulover Beach.
Miami will have you learn some Spanish by the end of your trip. So many Spanish speaking people that are friendly. If you want some good food visit Versailles Restaurant in Little Havana. Its got the best Cuban food. Then head to the famous Ball and Chain spot for the liveliest Salsa night out. If your in North Miami Beach I would definitely check out Paquitos Mexican restaurant. Its much more laid back but has a colorful vibe and they even play some live music.
I visited Miami September 2019 which is hurricane season, I got lucky and completely missed a hurricane but did get some rain, on and off showers but nothing to ruin the trip (weather tip for those considering visiting at that time).
So much to do and see in this city but it will mostly likely cost you a few bucks. The famous ocean avenue which houses the Versace mansion where you can stay at the now hotel and or visit the restaurant for lunch and or dinner is a bit pricey which dinner for two people (cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert) might be around 250.00$. Miami Beach and South Beach has so much to offer with clubs, restaurants, bars, shops, museums, etc. When trying to visit the popular places prepare to spend extra cash as drinks and food are expensive and nobody likes a non tipper so be nice where you can :)
The streets are lined with hotels, most likely you will pay more the closer you are to the beach and or the nicer/popular the place you stay. I stayed away from the beach a bit at the Mondrian which is a cute Art Deco style hotel where some celebs frequently stay (a bit expensive but worth it!). Ocean avenue & Collins Avenue are constant parties and have several things to do. I preferred to uber during my trip which from my hotel to each place I visited was not far so I save a few bucks by not renting a car for the weekend. The city is lively, fun for all, filled with things to do, good food but can definitely get expensive. So depending on your lifestyle and budget I would save and research prior to visiting.
While looking at street art in Wynwood I decided to try Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop. I saw it on Instagram. I have a crazy sweet tooth and this satisfied it to the fullest. They have the best pies! I order the Nutella pie, a brownie, blondie and a cookie. Ate them all! If you’re in Miami carving sweets you have to go here!
If you love incredible views as much as you love great food, than the Rusty Pelican is 100% the place to be in Miami. I have lived in the city for a few years now and have yet to find a better angle of the bay and skyline than from this beautiful restaurant. There is a mandatory valet ($6) and reservations are encouraged as the best seats are outside by the water’s edge. As you dine you will see seaplanes takeoff, kayaks and jet skis glide by, and admire yachts of all sizes. The food and drink prices do reflect the ambiance as dinner entrees range around $30-50 and cocktails are $16, however, I recommend going during brunch for daytime lighting and $15-$30 entrees including the delicious crab huevos rancheros. The Pelican is open from 11a-11p/12a daily with happy hour being from 4-7p M-F in the lounge only, featuring $8 cocktails and $8-$12 gourmet mains.
Let’s see, where do I begin. Miami is a beautiful city , especially south beach. South beach offers a lot of different things to do. If you love to club then hit south beach. If you love to eat then hit south beach. If you just love to relax and be on the beach enjoying the warm water and the sounds of the ocean then hit south beach. I recently went a few weeks back and I have no complaints, besides parking! It’s soo hard to find parking because there’s so many tourist! But once you find a spot you better pay a good amount to the parking meters if you think you’re going to stay on the strip for a long time. The strip has tons of bars and places to eat. Sugar factory, The Licking, Fat Tuesday and many more. Most Brothers & Sistas hit fat Tuesday’s for their famous slushy drinks and affordable food! South beach also has a handful of stores to shop in! They have sneaker stores and a big souvenir shop as well. One other spot that I really enjoyed was wynwood! They have tons of walls with dope art on them ! Im a photographer so this place was heaven for me lol. With all that said, Miami offers tons of things to do , that you’ll never get bored. Have fun !
I went there, and I reallly like it.
I went to different hotels( I’ve done this in other cities, I really liked it. Each hotel have different styles, and at the end it’s cheaper to do this when you go to 3 to 5 stars hotels.
I’ve liked the diversity of food, there are a lot of things to do ( at day and at night).
Everything is beautiful, people are nice.
Go to bayside Marketplace you can find everything there : restaurant and bars ( I found my new favorite restaurant 《Chili’s》), of course SHOPPING I love this place because there are a lot of shops for everyone, you have a amazing view of boats and the city.
I would recommend to go in Miami in the summer.
I went to Miami for a girls trip with four of my close friends and it was so much fun. We arrived on a Friday morning and left Monday morning which was a good amount of time. We stayed at the Vintro Hotel which was close to Collins Ave. It is a boutique hotel so the room was a little small for all of us. It’s definitely a hotel more for couples. We walked to most of the places we visited on South Beach. The Social Club was a good place to grab lunch and drinks. The staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. For dinner, we went to Lario’s on the Beach which is Emilio and Gloria Estefan’s Cuban restaurant. Great food and amazing location, I highly recommend. At night we went to Story which is like most clubs, so very expensive. Three shots cost over $50. On Saturday, we went to the Hyde Beach day party at the SLS Hotel. THIS IS A MUST! We got a day bed which was the best decision ever, the total cost was around $2000. You can get drinks that come in a giant glass like the size of a giant vase. There’s the option to go with a promoter but I don’t think the experience would be as fun. If you’re going for a birthday or bachelorette, I definitely recommend splitting the cost of a day bed. At night I also recommend going to Wall Lounge. I personally preferred the vibe here more than Story since it wasn’t as clubby. The music was also better in my opinion because it was less EDM and more hip hop. When walking on Collins Ave, beware of the people who try to sell you party packages. You should also leave South Beach to checkout Wynwood.
We had the most amazing time lounging at the beach at Fontainebleau, mostly because of our incredible waitress Maria! She is sincere, funny, and so considerate of her guests. She served us all day on Friday, and then went out of her way to serve us Saturday when we found ourselves in a busy section of the beach to which she wasn’t assigned. She remembered our drink orders and food preferences from one day to the next, and made our experience feel so personal. I will recommend
I recently did a solo one day trip to Miami just to get away from the Houston winter. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money (very easy to do in Miami) and I also wanted to do something different than the usual beach and party itinerary. I spent half of the day in Little Havana, Miami’s historic Cuban neighborhood. Along Calle Ocho there is much to do, see and eat. I spent a lot of time in the art galleries and even bought a piece to bring back home (at the Luis Molina gallery). There are cafes along the street where you can try Cuban food (I recommend getting coffee as well), and if you’re looking for a lively scene a couple of the places had live bands playing. Other than in the galleries, there’s art everywhere, from the murals, graffiti and rooster statues (my favorite). I also checked out Domino Park, where old timers gather to play dominoes as tourists and other bystanders watch. If you want a more formal tour, there’s a visitor center where you can sign up for one or buy a guide pamphlet.
After leaving little Havana I went down to South Beach where I had booked a hostel – Generator. It was my first time staying at a hostel and I was impressed by this one. It was affordable (of course, why I chose it), very clean and modern. I shared a dorm with three other girls and it was ok for one night although I would probably go with a traditional hotel if I was staying longer, just for privacy. It’s right across the street from the beach so the location can’t be beat for the price.
I spent the afternoon walking along the beach and people watching. In the evening I took a walk on Ocean Drive, grabbed some dinner and bar hopped a little. When it comes to food there are options to fit different budgets, same with nightlife.
Miami has a reputation for glitz and glam but you can definitely have fun on a budget, and off the beaten path if you prefer.
Miami is always a great idea! One of my favorite US destinations because you can count on the weather more of the year than California as a whole when combining things to do. Miami is expensive though! Traveling while black is great considering it is a major black city, but it is America some prepared for the nuances of American structure that is not built for black people. We have family in Miami and that is always a good idea in reference to saving money on lodging; however I would advise everyone to Airbnb on North Miami Beach/Sunny Isles for a more relaxed experience. North Miami is more relaxed, still a short drive to South Beach for the obvious never ending entertaining people watching, and its a lot cheaper. Most of those high rises have rooftop pools, and walking distance to a more calm beach. The Cuban history is obviously amazing although they have a different attitude than Cuba considering tourist money is more common. Wynwood is a must for Instagram pics and just great street art, plus the bars are great. Downtown Miami/Brickell has some great brunch spots. Prime Fish is one of my favs, then Nikki Beach on South beach. A bit pricey but great scenery. Oh and don’t sleep on flying into Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Beach for a cheaper flight. FLL will still be a decent Uber ride especially to North Beach. Renting a car is an affordable option while there, just beware of parking at the hotels!
Miami is always a good time. I love walking down south beach. You always got to stop by Fat Tuesday’s and Wet Willies to get drinks. Chilling on the beach relaxing is alway good. The nightlife is always lit like going to LIV on Sunday, Story, IVY, Mansion, etc. Food could very expensive. Miami is always a good 4/3night getaway.
Miami is a very cosmopolitan city! The panels are translated into English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, to show you some of the diversity. Even though I was on internship, I was able to take advantage of it a little because my sister lived there. I lived at Ocean Drive, in an apartment five minutes outside the sea. When I had the time, I would go for a walk to South Pointe Park, we have a beautiful view of the beach and South Beach. Preferably go in the morning, sunrise is beautiful. Sunset is nice to see as well. I loved Wynwood, and that was where I was doing my internship. At each break I take the opportunity to walk the streets of Wynwood Art District and admire the murals, and some of the street messages. Really, I think it’s my favourite neighbourhood.Especially do not hesitate to go to the Art Walk every second Saturday of the month between 18h and 22h. Art galleries and boutiques open their doors during this time slot. Food trucks are in the streets, there is music and everything. The people of Miami meet at this time to spend a good evening. It’s really cool!
I had the chance to take a boat tour from Bayside, where I discovered the famous celebrity villas at Star Island, Palm Islands & Fisher Islands.Who says Miami, Shopping says. Shopping means shopping, Mall and Outlets. In Miami, you have a choice! You have Dolphin Mall, Sawgrass Mills, but you also have Lincoln Road. You’ll find on this shopping street the Kardashian, Victoria’s Secret, M.A.C, Sephora, GAP, etc. I ruined myself at Victoria’s Secret, there were madness promos! I also bought a $30 Cortez pair from Nike Factory in Sawgrass, a $15 pair of vans, clothes, and lots of other stuff for my family and cheri (clothes, shoes, hats, souvenirs, etc.). It’s really worth it! We arrived in Sawgrass at 12 and left at 9:30. A real shopping day! A tip, choose the Malls and Outlets over the Lincoln Road, you’ll save money. There is also Ross, who offers you brands and other inexpensive items. But anyway, you have to dig for good stuff.I also spent a weekend in the Everglades with the alligators! My sister’s friend had a house there, so we spent the weekend there. It was super cool! We didn’t go out on a boat, everyone told me it wasn’t worth it for the price it was. It didn’t stop me from seeing the alligators! Little Havana is also unavoidable. There you will find funny papis playing domino at Domino Park. You can buy your cigars at the Cigar Factory, drink a mojito in a typical Cuban bar, walk the streets and hear a nice salsa that will make you want to dance. A small depayment while staying in Miami. I also visit the Vizcaya Museum, it is a villa in the Italian style of the sixteenth century with beautiful gardens. If you have the opportunity, do the Miami Keys. Key West especially!

Miami is great for if you wish to escape the cold of the north, but don’t wish to spend too much to leave the country. Still a developing city, you will notice much construction still going on (depending on if you leave South Beach to explore!). South Beach, I find, is a little too touristic for me so typically I would head over to Blackbird Ordinary in downtown Miami or anywhere in Wynwood for a night out. Depending on the time of year you visit, there is always an event happening as Miami attempts to keep up with the world. Art Basel is great in December, carnival is great in October, etc. South Beach has a great beach, but, locals don’t frequent it too much as there are far too many tourists. Fort Lauderdale Beach near Las Olas, in my opinion, is better and Hollywood beach if you want something a little quieter but still exploding with things to do. Being by the sea, there are tons of great seafood restaurants. American Social os one of my favs in Brickell, GGs in Hollywood, and pretty much anywhere by the water! Hard Rock is also located in Hollywood and has tons to do.
If you’re a history buff, Miami is probably not the best place for you, but, there are some great museums if you don’t mind driving outside of Miami. The Ah tah thi ki museum is located over an hour away in Clewiston and focuses on the Seminole culture, Morikami Gardens is situated near Boca Raton and is focused on Japanese culture. For closer attractions, you can always visit the PAMM for contemporary art and a great view, or the History Miami for finding out more about Miami’s history.
If you enjoy being black, check out any events that Social Xchange might be having on eventbrite. These are filled with young professional black individuals that come out for a good night. Unlike some spots in wynwood or south beach where people are more concerned with looking good, the crowd is very “Atlanta-ish” at these events.
For the hippies amongst us, be sure to check out the Farmers Markets such as “Coconuts Grove Farmers Market”, or again, if you don’t mind a 25 minute drive; the yellow green farmers market in Hollywood on the weekends. Plenty of fresh, organic, and multi-dietary produce. Beautiful loving vibes too!

Miami is amazing, and the beaches are beautiful, everyone is partying. It is easy to meet new people. But it is best to pay attention by avoiding certain neighborhoods for better security. Avoid making too many payments with your credit card, and it is better to have cash.
Other than that, Be sure to have fun and enjoy yourself to the fullest.
I love Miami. It gives you an international vibe. The shopping and food is amazing. You could pretty much do everything you need on the strip. Flights are usually really cheap so you can budget your money elsewhere. I’ve never gone as a single. From MY experience the single men seem to be attracted to other races. They have amazing romantic and eclectic hotels that give you a great experience. I don’t know how much anything cost their because it’s always been an all expenses paid trip
Plenty of activities to do, Top golf- one of the best things they recently added to Miami, you can go during the day or night great food and drinks, it can be a little pricy if you’re not in a group but overall a great experience even if you don’t know how to golf. You also have IFLY- affordable and also a great experience especially if you’re trying to get out of your comfort and get tossed around in the air, you literally get to feel like your in zero gravity for a few minutes and you also get do a photo shoot right after and your able to purchase the footage of you flying. Lastly one of my favorites is water taxi, it’s about that takes you all over to stops either restaurants or bars, you get to drink, relax enjoy the view and have great food.
Love Miami, Florida. I’d recommend staying in South Beach, Miami. We stayed at a Townhouse https://www.expedia.ca/Miami-Hotels-Art-Deco-Townhouse-Apartments.h13276574.Hotel-Information that was 10 minutes walk to the beach, walking distance to Ocean Drive to enjoy all the nightlife and entertainment. Search for an air bnb that’s available for your party and cost friendly too, and make sure it’s within walking distance to the beach.
I’d recommend getting a hop on hop off tour to view all of Miami, including downtown Miami.
My friend and I did a 2 hour boat tour that took us around different spots as well.
You can also get a day tour to the Bahamas for $100 US plus taxes. The vendors have different options for you to choose from for your trip to The Bahamas. We went for the Grand Lucayan day tour from Fort Lauderdale. The tour companies arrange a shuttle bus for pick up from your area of accommodation.
Amazing place, and lots of entertainment to offer in this vibrant city.
While in Miami there’s never really a dull moment depending on when you go. I’ve gone to Miami about 3 times, twice around college Spring Break season (Mid March) and then once for New Years. New Years was nothing in comparison to Spring Break Season. When going there for Spring Break, the strip is PACKED, people are constantly drunk, and it seems like there’s always a party going on. Whether you just grab drinks from a random spot on the strip, go to clubs, or something else, there’s never a dull moment. However, I have realized that the older I get, the less appealing it is to travel there during spring break time. I recently went a few months post grad and realized I kind of hated it, the atmosphere was extremely young and immature, it seemed like the streets were so packed that you couldn’t move presumably from all the college students who aren’t of age to actually get into the bars. King of Diamonds, the strip club is usually a must see. The most popular bars are Wet Willies, Senior Frogs, and Fat Tuesday’s. As for food, the food on the strip is semi expensive and isn’t worth it since all of the restaurants charge an automatic 20% gratuity. I wasn’t amazed by any of those restaurants and felt as if I was better off eating at Chipotle or somewhere quicker. Miami is definitely not the place to go if you’re on a budget, but it is always a memorable time .
Ahhh! Miami! My home city. First and foremost, South Beach is not Miami. There’s so much more to see and do in the greater Miami Dade County. Wynwood is new up and coming neighborhood with no shortage of bars, lounges and restaurants. Wynwood is also become famous for its street art. Bayside is a fun place to go shopping, people watch, dine by the water, or catch some live music. You also have the Miami Sea Aquirium, Miami Zoo, Jungle Island, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Venetian Pool, Bayfront Park, Perez Art Museum, and lots more. The weather is usually great, except for the months of August-October. Those are our peak hurricane season months and we typically get a lot of rain and thunderstorms. If your staying in Miami for a while I recommend taking a weekend trip to The Bahamas (40 min flight) or The Keys (3 hour drive). If you’re into the nightclub thing, LIV on Sunday is still a pretty big deal. They always have a celebrity appearance. Be sure to get connected with a club promoter to get you in. You’ll never get in standing in the general entry line. There’s a 24hour stripclub/rooftop lounge and restaurant called 11even. You will never get bored in Miami lol.
So I love Miami but I am over it. It tends to attract very pretentious people but it is a good time. Don’t waste your time going to LIV unless you have a table (the bouncers tend to be very selective and money talks more than looks). I enjoy the beach and the strip. Mangos, Mokai, Delano and the W hotel club are my favorite go to spots. I’ve stayed in an Airbnb and The Dream Hotel and I would suggest staying in a hotel. When we were there, we got very lucky in the sense that our hotel had a pool party. We were able to have a good time for free! All in all, Miami is lit, I’ve been too many times too say I’m not sick of it.
This place is just party central, ocean drive just has so much going on, from restaurants to the each just on the thersid, the clubs outdoor gym. Miami for me is somewhere you would want to return to if you are all about seeing beautiful people and turning up. The night life was amazing, so many options of venues to chose from i actually felt spoiled for choice. In the end, we got a table at a club called the loft and storm. celebrities are usually around so you may be lucky when you go into one of the clubs in Miami Florida. South beach is one of the best places i have been to in terms of the people vibes and turning up . Definitely pricey but worth every penny spent.. must visit atleast once in your life clothes and shoes shopping is surprisingly cheap . So go do some shopping whilst you are out there.
South Beach is always a great cheap getaway. Great night life, affordable food, close to the beach. You are bound to have a great time in Miami and possibly run into a celebrity.
I’ve been to Miami several times, but it’s always nice to find something new to do! A group of friends, & I rode South beach part boats (southbeachpartyboat.com) to Mission island. It was 65 per person. They provided endless beer, wine, and snacks. We brought our own bottles and they let us take over the aux cord. Extremely fun experience.
Also, in Miami, I love stopping by news cafe to get some fresh conch!
Spent a few days in South Beach over a holiday weekend and it was incredibly fun.
There’s so much to do along Ocean Dr and the places that I loved the most were the drinks at Wet Willies and the massive Chicken and Waffle at Big Pink.
The World Erotic Art Museum was an interesting experience.
Brunch at FL Cafe has bottomless mimosas which will sneak up on you quickly.
Monday Reggae night a Purdy Lounge was a great experience to party Miami style without the large Miami crowds.
The drinks, food, and people on Calle Ocho around Miximo Gomez Park is a definite must experience.
South beach is one of my favorites. Beautiful beaches and people. There is also plenty to do in walking distance if you get a place near the beach. The nightlife is awesome. I also enjoyed talking to locals and hearing how much they enjoyed living there
I went to Miami last year. South beach it’s the best place to stay if you travel alone. There’s a lot of hostel not expensive near to the beach. Awesome beach tho! So much activities to do. It’s safe to take a walk by night. Every travellers enjoy the nightlife in miami?
I went to Miami for 2 weeks when I was 19. Yes I know it wasn’t the smartest age to go because you have to be 21 in the States before you can drink or go out clubbing. I had an amazing time nonetheless!
I stayed in the luxurious Setai Hotel on the famous South Beach and it was soo relaxing. Every day I would sit out on the private bit of beach owned by the hotel, soak up the sun and cool myself in the sea when I got too hot. I went in August which is the hottest month of the year so it was amazingly SCORCHING (I love hot temperatures) but, being Florida, the weather was subject to storms and hurricanes. I experienced a mild one while out there. Winds of 80mph and cloudy grey skies, I dare smyself to go outside during this time which was a bad idea, I think my hair was ripped out lol.
There was so much to do while out there. I ventured out alone most days, going for long walks along the beach which I found myself wishing for a bae to be there with me especially during the sunset.
If you go to Miami make sure you indulge in the restaurants and cafes out there. The food is amazing but quite pricey as there are loads of tourists in Miami. You will also probably need a car as I couldn’t get as much ground covered as I wanted to!
Miami is another one I have to visit AGAIN and enjoy all the possibilities a lot better
