A stop along Hwy 90 on your way to/from New Orleans while a festival is going on. Not really a final destination. Plate lunches, cajun or creole restaurants in or nearby.

Demographics: 44% non-Hispanic white, 44% Black or African American, and 5.1% Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Home of the Tobasco Factory (tours) on Avery Island. Avery Island also has Jungle Gardens–host of a rookery, garden grounds, and a large Buddha statue.
Duffy’s 50’s themed diner. City Park. Rip Van Winkle Gardens on the other side of town where peacocks freely roam a landscaped garden sitting alongside Lake Pegneir and a lunch hour restaurant.

The Bayou-On-The Teche antebellum home boasts telling the unflattering sides to the plantation history according to the tourism website. Have not personally been.
