Phi Phi, at least around Moo 7, is quite literally a party center. It’s small, surrounded on two sides by beautiful beach, and always bustling whether with people, carts with imported goods, or stray cats lol. There is a lot to do, especially in regards to island tours by long tail boat, but the island also has much more to offer. It is quite expensive unfortunately as not only does everything have to be imported to the island, but it is purely tourists there as well. If you want to party, it’s a great place to go to do so and be surrounded by people but if you want to relax, try another part of the island!
Absolutely gorgeous!! I can’t wait to someday return with bae because a group of just the girls got old after day 3 (as much as I love them!). This is definitely an opportunity to relax and unwind, with or without your significant other. Depending on the resort you are staying at you may be a ferry trip away from the main part of the island where the nightlife is, as well as small convenience stores/shops. When we arrived by ferry from the airport to the island we did a little stocking up on the main part of the island before we took our next ferry to our resort- Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort. We also realized that once the sun went down, that was it for the day – not much outdoor lighting. You can get a pretty inexpensive boat and guide out onto the water for some diving. It’s so beautiful and the water is so clear – beware though, some of the fish might nibble a bit, lol, they’re just checking you out though.
FOOD AND SERVICE WAS AMAZING! So many options to choose from even if you aren’t the biggest fan of seafood. There is a great variety to choose from and you will not be rushed to get up after you eat! Service is a really big part of Thailand, and they want to make sure you enjoy every single bite. Side Note: if you are a fan of spicy food tell them you want it ” Thai Spicy!” they love to see you try! Overall 10/10 for food & service. EVEN STREET FOOD!
PP Islands are really gorgeous! The trip here from Phuket will give you all the views that you dream of having when you come to visit Thailand, so it’s a must do trip. Tours are pretty cheap, but if you want to bargain, you can also just take a 300 Baht ferry across the water and then when you arrive you can hire your own longtail boat for your tour. I recommend this because first of all it’s cheaper, and second of all it’s private, but most importantly, it helps the locals. Staying on the island is also a good option if you want to experience all it has to offer. There are lots of shops and bars and it’s a pretty active island. I think there’s something for everyone. You can hike up to the viewpoint and walk across to the other side of the island pretty easily. Food options are vast and not so pricey considering that it is a tourist island. Locals don’t really pest you to buy things, and everyone is always nice and friendly. Coming here is a must if you visit Phuket.
I have been in Phi Phi Island twice the past 2 years. The Phi Phi Islands are an island group and straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. These Islands are the most beautiful of Thailand. They became famous for their natural beauty when Maya Bay, one of the most beautiful bays, starred in the movie The Beach. If you love the beach and relaxing. These Island are amazing to spend the day.
We visited Phi Phi Island and it is so beautiful! We did a 2 day 1 night trip through Traveliss and paid 1600THB which is roughly 53 USD. This included pickup from our hotel in Phuket, the ferry over to Phi Phi, the hotel for the night, dinner for that night, and breakfast the next morning. I encourage people to spend the night on the island to see the night life! If you don’t the last ferry leaves at 4pm. The night life is so spectacular. There are several bars and clubs that party all night. They have hookah bars as well! On the beach they have flame throwers. Throughout the day you can island hop. Phi phi is just so beautiful!! I would definitely return!
When visiting Phuket its a must that you take a boat tour of Phi Phi Islands (pronounced Pee Pee) were beyond beautiful. We visited Monkey Beach, Pileah Lagoon, and Maya Beach. The water is unlike any other ocean that Ive ever seen. Our day cruise to Phi Phi via speedboat was nothing short of beautiful and relaxing. it was also very informative and we had the funniest tour guide. We booked with http://www.chaidriverinphuket.com/tour_info.php?tour_id=32 for about $61 a piece. Great experience!
Phi Phi Island is a beautiful place!! I never seen anything like it before. I bought my ticket through travel Zoo and paid 79$ for a full day tour. We took a speed boat to the island and went to 3 other small islands. The company also paid for us to eat at a local restaurant on a secluded island on phi phi. We were able to go snorkeling and swim in the beautiful clear waters!! It was amazing
I took a boat excursion to Phi Phi Islands and it was absolutely breathtaking. The clear water, the weather, the food- everything was just amazing. I took the Phi Phi Islands day your with a company called Viator. I booked online with my debit card. A bus picked us up to take us to the boat, then dropped us back off at our hotel following the excursion. It was about $95 for a full day tour and it included food, a tour of all islands, and snorkeling. Monkey beach was my favorite of the Phi Phi Islands. It’s inhabited with wild monkeys, so no one can get off the boat, but it was such a cool sight to see. I would definitely recommend visiting if you’re even in Thailand.
After leaving PhiPhi islands I started googling how to get Thai residency! I love phi phi islands truely and honestly. This island has such a nice vibe during the day and during the night. It’s beautiful and that’s an understatement. We stayed here at Phi Phi Harbour view hotel which I would recommend a lot! The island is breathtaking, so beautiful and the people here are extremely nice and would do and recommend things to make your trip well worth it! Make sure you do the 4 island tour by long tail boat. We did a private long tail boat tour in the early morning to avoid large crowds. It’s reallly cheap especially when you split it amongst the people you’re traveling with. You have the option of bargaining to make it cheaper which is what we did. At night just follow the music honestly. That’s where the night life is… where ever the music is playing. It’s not great music but you won’t care cuz you’ll be too busy enjoying the fire show, playing jump rope, limbo and painting on walls with fluorescent paint and taking pictures and videos with your friends wondering how one of you ended up bleeding from your knees without feeling the pain! Make sure you get a bucket! Strawberry Daiquiri my fave!! Don’t leave phi phi without having at least one Thai pancake a day! Banana Nutella (thank me later:-) ). From phi phi we also did a day trip to visit Koh Lanta another beautiful island! It is less touristy and very calm. Phi phi is another great place to go island hoping and/ or do a lot of day trips from here. If we stayed another day we would have went to Koh Yaoi. Our tour guide told us that it is the Maldives of Thailand and that its 20 minutes away from everything because it’s right at the centre. Phi phi is one of the those places where you have to go experience it yourself. Just pack and go. It lives up to the hype if not more.
Phi Phi Island is absolutely breath taking. You can travel by speed boat and get there within minutes. Most of these excursions include a full day itinerary, including snorkeling, jet skis, money island etc. Our Airbnb host assisted with scheduling (link: https://abnb.me/DUau6Dj0IV )Hotels typically can also schedule for you and if not there are plenty of traveler agents around the city that can! It is very affordable and a great experience!
Koh Phi Phi is the centralized location of the islands. Words cannot describe how beautiful the H-Shaped Island is. As I went in December, everything for the high season was just getting started. You have rave beach parties catered to us young travelers (but definitely no limited to just us). Monkey beach is a short 5minute boat ride away. If you’re brave with a bit of arm strength, you can rent a kayak to the monkey for 6-9$ and then $3 per additional hour. But if you want an island tour, there are long tails boats and agencies ready to take you immediately!
There’s food everywhere. And when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere. If I’m being 100% honest, the seafood restaurants on the beach for dinner are not worth it, but the local cafes definitely are.
As Koh Phi Phi is touristy, you will definitely have higher prices. It’s funny because I thought it was amazing to pay $1-1.5USD for pad Thai in Bangkok, but when I had to pay $2.5 to $3 in Koh Phi Phi I considered it “expensive”. But in reality, it’s still cheap compared to the US. Haha. I do not feel the food was as good here as it was in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but it’s still worth it.
Koh Phi Phi is raved with tourist but it doesn’t really feel like it too much. Everyone’s really mellow and loves to have a great time. Whether it’s lounging on the beach, having drinks, eating, karaoke, playing pool, or taking a casual walk and running into a pack of monkeys (yes this actually happened and they were chill), you’re destined to have a great time. The islands cater to literally everyone. Even children.
If you want to get away from the rustle and bustle, it’s very easy to find a place to get away. Even if that means walking up to a viewpoint.
I 100% recommend Koh Phi Phi, definitely not Phuket/Patong — but I’ll safe that for my next review.
OMG! This might have been the cheapest most adventurous place we’ve experienced. If you’re going for Maya Bay, forget about it! Its closed off indefinitely. But don’t let that deter you from visiting! This place is prime IG photo opportunity real estate, the people are mad cool and the food is A1! We stayed in Phi Phi Top View Resort. Request the new building – its bit of a walk from the action but the view can be beat. A few things to note, there is an island entry fee of 20 baht per person, pretty much everything is negotiable, long tail boats over speed boats, and if you’re looking for non-local food Lucky 13 is pretty good!
10/10 recommend! Peep the visuals and additional pro-tips via the link below.

While staying in Krabi, we caught a taxi to Phuket. It was about a 2 hour ride and was approximately $80. We spent the day in Phuket and bought tickets to catch a one way ferry to Phi Phi then back to Krabi the following day. The vendor we bought the ferry tickets from offered hotel pickup and we were first. Our driver was slow and we were late to the ferry but they waited for us. The ferry was completely full at the back where we boarded and even the inside section. We had no choice but to go to the front of the ferry. Well that ended up being great because we got epic pictures in the front of the boat. The ferry ride was about 90 minutes and during the ride people realized that great pictures were being taken out side and many people tried to come to the front of the boat. I got sunburned on my shoulders because of that sun though so be sure to use sunblock. Upon arriving to Phi Phi Don ( pronounced Pee Pee Dawn) we had about 4 hours to enjoy the island before catching our ferry back to Krabi. Bag storage was available at the dock which was necessary for us because we had spent the night in Phuket and had bags. My best friend wanted to see (take pictures) at the Viewpoint that was created by the Tsunami in 2004 (I think?). This was just about the most ridiculous undertaking I had ever done. The viewpoint is to the right of the Ferry dock and all the shops around the dock. It is also ALL up hill. I was wearing flip flops. The distance is approximately 1 mile and 173 feet up in elevation. A
bout half way into this walk I was ready to throw in the towel. We had tried to wave down passing cars for a ride up the mountain. Finally someone stopped. We offered him a good chunk of change to take us to the viewpoint, wait and drive us back down. Thank God we did. We got there, paid the entrance fee of 30 baht and got beautiful pictures with the land strip in the background. Upon getting back to the dock we secured a long tail boat to take us to Maya Bay where “The Beach” was filmed. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and I definitely would like to return. Pictures here were epic. Walking through a path led you to another side of the island where it wasn’t a beach but there was an area to take pictures in front of the gorgeous water. Due to the prolonged hike to the Viewpoint, we did not make it to Monkey Beach. That’ll be on the next trip too. Due to the increased popularity of Maya Bay the area was scheduled to close for the summer months, upon further research they have decided to close the beach indefinitely. Hopefully the are will rejuvenate and I can visit one day again.
Phi Phi Island was actually one of the best islands I’ve ever experienced. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend that you visit this island while in Phuket, Thailand. This is an all day tour and you visit multiple islands via speedboat. There is one part of the tour where you may have to pay a little extra to visit Monkey beach and a couple of other beaches, I encourage you to do so. The scenery is amazing like something out of a movie. If you don’t know how to swim they provide life jackets. Also, bring water shoes because if not you will have to pay for the water shoes they provide. Again, if you are visiting Phuket in Thailand you MUST go to Phi Phi Island, you will not be disappointed plus it’s a great place for a photo opp ?
Eat the street food! There is no reason to eat any where else. There are local street food markets where you can get anything from a hotpot noodle soup to Pad Thai. Everything is super cheap this is a destination i’ve done 3 times! Find different street food markets all over the island.
Love! Love! Love! Of all the places I’ve traveled this is the most welcomed I’ve ever felt. People literally inviting you to have dinner in their homes. They were so thrilled to see black visiting. My favorite place was Phi phi island maya bay and James Bond island where I went to monkey island with the locals and just had a damn good time. We went there by boats with my friends we swim with beautiful fish in the middle of nowhere the water was so clear OMG .. Phi island it’s clearly a bit of heaven can’t wait to get back there
Phuket was a great. I had a great time.
I enjoyed the Phi Phi island. There are 3 ways to hop from island to island: the ferry, the taxi boats or the private boat.
Either one is great. I took the taxi boat around; and due to the duration of my stay, I didn’t make it to the James Bond Island.
Everything is affordable. Hotels, food, drinks, coconuts , and mostly souvenirs.
U can walk from one end to the other once you get dropped off by the actual ferry or speed boat from Rassada Pier; I did, a little bit of excersise.
Great fun.
Phi Phi Islands is probably the highlight of all the tours you will go on in Thailand. Needless to mention that it is incredibly beautiful, you will be able to see other amazing smaller islands and beaches as part of your tour. The two highlights for me were Maya Bay and Monkey Beach. The monkeys on Monkey Beach appear cute but are really dangerous and aggressive. You will be advised by your tour guide to keep your distance. One of the tourists on our boat got scratched pretty bad on the back and had to get medication. The food on Phi Phi Islands is pretty much the same as anywhere else in Thailand and you will be given an option to eat mostly western food. The water sports is really amazing but you will have to pay in addition to your tour fee in order to jetski for example. It is also advisable to do the Phi Phi tour by speedboat and not by long-tail boat as it is very popular and long-tail boats are far slower than speedboats. The result is that all the amazing spots will be overcrowded and kind of tarnish your ability to enjoy the tour.
Phi Phi island is like no other. The water is a clear warm tone blue. When it comes to the different island there is so many to see and they all seem different. I went on a island tour by speedboat where we basically island hopped from island to island. Although I was not on Phi Phi island that long I still enjoyed the time there. Sunscreen and bih spray is a must. I went with a group of 10 and we all got tore up by the bugs. Along the island are many local vendors set up selling different things. Everything in Thailand is cheap! Your money will go a long way.
If you are looking for an escape than Phi Phi Islands is definitely the place to go! From Phuket we traveled to the ferry which runs 3 or 4 times a day. We hired a driver from phuketferry.com which was super easy and you can book in advance. The ferry to Phi Phi takes about 2 hours if I remember correctly. There are a lot of souv shops and restaurants when you first get there and most of the hotels overlook the beach. Most tourists rent a speed boat to go Maya Bay and Monkey Beach but we rented a long tail boat to get the authentic experience! We rented through Blue View Divers which was very helpful. Maya Bay is breathtaking and I would highly recommend it!
You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT visit Phuket without going to the Phi Phi islands!!! The views are unbelievable and the whole day is great. I went here while on a girls trip around SE Asia. We booked an all day tour to Phi Phi Islands through My Island Tours. For about $50 it includes shuttle pick up from your hotel to the pier, a speedboat ride to the Phi Phi Islands, a buffet lunch, and snorkeling gear. We were picked up around 8am from our hotel near Patong Beach and headed to the pier. As the last group to get on the speedboat, we had no choice but to sit at the front of the boat. At first we didn’t like that because there was nothing to block the sun, but it ended up being the best seats on the boat! The people sitting inside eventually started to realize what they were missing out on.
Stops on the tour included:
• Maya Bay, the backdrop for the movie The Beach-Swimming and photo ops
• Pileh Lagoon-Snorkeling
•Phi Phi Don- Lunch
•Monkey Beach- For the monkeys of course!
•Khai Nok- Swimming and snacks
We headed back to the pier around 4:30 pm and got on the shuttle back to our hotel.
I will definitely make another trip to Phi Phi Islands to see everything else it has to offer!
Seriously, who doesn’t love Phi Phi Islands!!! If you’re traveling to Thailand, this must be an option to your trip…trust me! You can only access these beautiful cluster of islands by speedboat (recommended) or ferry. From Phuket, the speedboat is about a 45 min-1 hour ride (depending on if your tour makes stops or not)…..while the ferry is about 1.5-2 hour ride. We booked our tour on Viator.com. They picked us up from our Airbnb around 7:30am and we returned back around 5pm. This is the best all day beach tour option in Thailand! Supreme scenery with the best photo backdrops money can buy. I spent my 35th birthday here just basking in the sun adding tint to my melanin. Two popular stops where Maya Bay (where they shot the famous movie The Beach) and Monkey Beach. Also…if you get a chance to go on the other side of Phi Phi islands……James Bond Island is a must see also!
Phi Phi’s beauty is incomparable!!!! My husband and I loved every single minute of that romantic day trip. It’s magical.. as we approached by boat, they rose from the sea like castles in the water. Few minutes later they became like a jungle in the water. It is a must see.
Scuba Diving was our first activity, we really really loved it. We also enjoyed having diner on the boat, views were just breathtaking… During the trip, you just enjoy those beautiful views, the sun, and the music…and why not dancing on the boat! Just a magic day with hubby just relaxing in paradise. Amazing!!!!
We bought our tickets at the airport for the 2packages Phi Phi Island and James Bond Island including transport from the airport to the hotel and back for cheaper than taking one thing a part. U must negotiate in everything and it really works!!!! Enjoooy and try something new… Amazing memories from THAILAND
I live in a country (Croatia) with beautiful islands, beaches and clear water but Phi Phi islands are on a whole other level.
So colorful, crystal clear blue water with white sandy beaches and vertical cliffs surrounding it makes you feel like you are in a dream.
I payed for the trip cca 1200 baht. The tour lasted the whole day, from 9 AM – 4 PM. A minivan picked us up from our hotel and picked up several other guests at a couple different hotels before heading to Royal Phuket Marina, where we hopped on our speedboat. Then, it takes 45 minutes to get to Phi Phi islands.
I could write 100 pages about the beautiful Phi Phi islands but it’s better for you to go see it and enjoy it.
In Phuket thailand, There is no such thing as a dull moment. The food is absolutely amazing and very cheap. There are a ton of stalls located throughout Patong Beach that gives soo many different options to try some of the adventurous tours that they offer. Be sure to negotiate prices as every stand may differ in prices for the same tours. Phi Phi will take your breath away, Every moment is exhilarating. The Spas are very cheap, and very good. If you’re a night person, be sure to check out Club Illuzions and all of the fun activities thats located on the same strip (patong Beach) Also, be sure to negotiate your cab fare from the airport to your hotel., i believe i paid about 600Bahts to get to Woraburi Resort from the airport which was pretty darn good. At first another cab company tried charging me 1500 bahts. Negotiating is always key ;)
I went to Phi Phi islands during my stay in Phuket. Its absolutely a MUST! Do not go to Thailand without visiting Phi Phi islands!!! I would absolutely recommend doing a sunrise tour. This is a top tourist location and it can get very crowded. I booked my tour through V. Marine Tour and we visited 4 of the 6 Phi Phi islands. The tour group was small, 12 people. We left around 6am which was great because you beat the crowd (and you can get pics without a million people in the background!). The scenery is absolutely gorgeous! We got to swim and snorkel which was fun. Also, feeding the monkeys on Monkey Beach was a cool experience!
Absolutely best place to relax! Rewind…TOP country to visit! So to get to Phi Phi you have to first fly into Bangkok and then take a local plane to the island. Which can connect you to other islands like the James Bond Island etc
If you haven’t been told..here goes, Thailand is CHEAP! The dollar(US) is quite strong so food and souvenirs are easy to come by.
We went ATV riding around the island, Rode an elephant, Went on a Booze Cruise..which was absolutely amazing! I suggest you do it when there. This allowed us to snorkel and of course ..drink! Cruise took us to see a monkey island.
The food in Phi Phi can become very monetonous. I love Thai food but after a while, how many times can one eat noodle or rice variation.
I went in May – June. High peak season for flights. I suggest to another timeframe.
GO TO THAILAND and experience the beauty!
I decided to go to Phi Phi randomly while I was staying in Bangkok and met some people going and it was such an amazing choice! It is absolutely beautiful with some of the bluest waters I’ve ever seen and so much color everywhere. You take a ferry from another island which was amazing in itself! All of the main hotels are all in walking distance from each other on this main road which was very nice especially at night when you may have been drinking a little. And on that note the nightlife was so fun! It was definitely a younger, wilder crowd so if you’re into that, this place is perfect for you! They offer party boats which was probably my favorite thing to do because I got to see famous islands, jump off the boat, go snorkeling, and play with monkeys all while meeting people from all over the world. I definitely don’t think you need more than 2 or 3 nights here.
