My fiancé is from here, so I’ve visited twice. I have to caution all black and brown travelers that this entire state is STRIKINGLY white. stares are abundant. some are curious, others are hostile! I’ve had rude remarks about my hair ( I have locs). I’ve been called slurs by children! They had to of gotten it from somewhere! The nature is beautiful. the people, unfortunately, aren’t so much. If you’re going to enjoy the scenery, go, but do not be alone!! Safe travels.
