When visiting the Tampa Bay region, you must visit Carmel Friendship Church in Wesley Chapel, where the people are real and God is real. It’s just 30 minutes from the airport, but well worth the drive. The music ministry is on point and the choir will sang. If you’re traveling on Labor Day weekend, the youth take over the entire church and it is an amazing experience. #CFConthego #realGodrealpeople

Living in Tampa FL for more than 10 years, I’ve come across some of the most amazing restaurants here locally. Tampa is pretty diverse, and you can find pretty much any and every type of food there is. There are tons of restaurants I could recommend to you, but I’d be here all day! Lol. Here are some of my top favorite restaurants that anyone can try when visiting Tampa: 1. Steaming Pots West African Cuisine. Steaming Pots takes me back to the motherland with the amount of love and soul they put into their dishes. They serve up a variety of meals such as Egusi Stew, Jollof Rice, Okra Soup with Fufu and so much more. The amount of food that they give you on the plate is more than enough and can last you for about 2 meals. Highly recommend, and very welcoming atmosphere.
2. Madame Fortune Dessert + HiFi Parlour- Located in the heart of Ybor this cozy hidden gem is one that is sure to make your heart happy. From the honey glazed cornbread to the braised oxtails and grits, you will walk out full and elated. So much history behind the name and culture in every bite.
3. Lepleys- this southern meet’s Caribbean fusion is one you and your girls can come to enjoy. The drinks are BOMB and the food is delightful. The music is always on point and staff very friendly.

If you are in the Tampa, FL area and looking for some great black-owned food options, here is where you’d want to go.
1. YuppiTPA- located in the historic Ybor City you will find Black American Food at it finest. The best wings and shrimp with the famous Yuppi sauce added to it is *chefs kiss* the customer service was A1 and the staff is very friendly. I’m telling you… run to this spot!
2. 7th and Grove- Also located in the historic Ybor City District, not only do they provide an amazing Brunch and great Southern Comfort Food… they are also known for their upscale vibes whether it be day or night. Adult friendly space where you can celebrate mostly anything. Ps- I got engaged here on Karoake night :)
3. Jerk Hut- are you ready to go to the islands mon? Indulge in some of your favorite island dishes, from oxtail stew, jerk chicken, Jamaican beef Pattie’s and a sip of rum punch. You won’t be disappointed!
4. Island Crew Restaurant- serving up fresh island cuisine daily. Experience some of the best combinations of authentic island cooking. My favorite is the steamed red snapper topped with onions & bell pepper.
There are many more around the town, but these are some of my absolute favorites.
