The Hague is beautiful, peaceful, full of canals, and so easy to get around (on foot or tram or bike). Be prepared for the “sophisticated racism” of Europe where people stare at you. They will, however, leave you alone. Other black folks probably will not return the universal black nod or smile. It’s a lil different in terms of friendliness, and everyone keeps to themselves. So id recommend for group or companion travel over solo travel. Great sites, lots of history (including history of colonization and enslavement). Amsterdam is 40 mins away by train and super easy to get to. I recommend the Wereldmuseum for a fantastic exhibit on the Dutch involvement in the slave trade. It is in depth and hard hitting. Great food here, particularly the food of the colonies (Surinamese food, Indonesian food, Sri Lankan food). Great walks, and the beach was lovely. Most people speak English.
