HOTEL REVIEW
4.5/5 LOCATION: Hotel Becket is situated in Heavenly Village in the heart of downtown Tahoe South. One of the cities best hiking locations, van sickle bi-state park is less than a ten minute walk from the hotel. Additionally, the hotel is also within walking distance to many of the areas great restaurants including 10 crows BBQ which is attached to the hotel, Driftwood café, and Azul Latin Kitchen. The hotel is also centrally located which allows for a quick ride in the direction of the marina and Taylor Creek or to Zephyr Cove for the Lake Tahoe river cruise. 2/5 VIBE: Artistic and modest with mountain charm. From the outside, Hotel Becket is extremely unassuming and almost looks like a motel as each door opens to the outside. However, I found the hotel to have many pleasant surprises including the charming rooms, outdoor fire pit, and attached BBQ restaurant.
2/5 AMENITIES: Facilities at Hotel Becket are somewhat limited. Being a bit of a gym rat myself, I was a bit disappointed that there was no gym at this facility, however being so close to hiking during the fall and summer months, and skiing and snowboarding during the winter months, you can easily take your workouts outdoors. Seasonally, the hotel offers an outdoor pool as well as an outdoor grilling area and indoor hot tub and sauna. If you’re a dog lover, this hotel is also pet friendly!
3/5 ROOMS: There are 162 rooms at Hotel Becket. The rooms are comfortably appointed with rustic touches like a sliding barn doors and wooden accents throughout. The low rise bed with white linens was very comfortable and made for a pleasant rest after a long cross-country flight.
4/5 FOOD AND LIBATIONS: 10 crows BBQ is connected to the lobby of Hotel Becket and serves complimentary breakfast to hotel guests in the morning. For lunch and dinner, you can expect BBQ and southern favorites like fried chicken and slaw. The Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich and mac and cheese were excellently complemented by a long beer list and a pretty tasty hot toddy to warm up after cold days on the slopes.
4.5/5 AFFORDABILITY/VALUE: Starting at rates as low as $126/night, Hotel Becket is an excellent value for the money in the Lake Tahoe South area. With breakfast included, free wifi, and its close proximity to local area attractions, Hotel Becket is a great choice for those who would rather explore the area than spend the entire time in their hotel room.
