Visited in RV over several days traveling from San Diego. Small charming town feel, breathtaking views in Alabama Hills. Not many black people specifically, but lotssss of tourists and POC everywhere. Never felt weird or uncomfortable. Don’t love the origins of the name “Alabama Hills” but it doesn’t reflect the town or people. We camped on BLM land, Red Rock Canyon first (Campground : 35.3665, -117.9645 / BLM: 35.3925, -117.9430) then Tuttle Creek Campground ($10/night) and Alabama Hills BLM (free permit online) where we hiked the Mobius Arch Loop Trail (super easy) with Mount Whitney backdrop. Look up pictures, it’s truly stunning. If you love nature, camping, hiking, have a dog or children or just want a day adventure, highly recommend this town. Food was meh lol
