Abidjan is a fun city to visit, the food is simply one of the BEST on the west coast, the beaches are fun over the weekend. They know how to party, and the ambiance is a vibe on its own. The place is safe, the people are friendly and welcoming.

Abidjan is known as “the Paris of Africa”. It is one of largest populated cities in Western Africa. It is a beautiful city, safe with friendly people. The climate is generally warm and humid. There are 3 seasons : warm and dry (November to March). Hot and Dry (March to May), and Hot and wet (June to October). You can find plenty of nice hotels like the Sofitel, The Radisson Blu or the Novotel. Visit the St. Paul Cathedral and the Basilica of Our Lady of peace. Take a drive to the Grand Bassam and enjoy the ultimate tropical getaway at one of the Sandy beaches.

I visited Cote D’Ivoire in November 2018 , specifically the beaches in Assinie. Assinie is a resort town located in the south eastern part of Ivory Coast. Along with the beautiful Caribbean feel like beaches they also have a lagoon part that runs almost parallel to the beach. In terms of things to do; there is a National park where you can enjoy bird watching, and zoo. I strongly recommend to spend some days at Ehotile Lodge, O Sole Mio, Rip Curl or Sabbat Plage.
Assinie is a secret gem , i was so amazed upon arrival . Literally felt like i was in the Caribbean , clear blue waters, palm trees and white clean beaches. Local food was to die for ! everything was fresh and organic.
Lobsters and shrimps were delicious and cheap.

The only con is the accessibility , it is about two hours from the airport and can cost up to $100 plus dollars via cab or private transport to reach. Overall worth the trip

Best food ever. Go to “Riviera 2” there is a very popular street with a lot of small restaurants, eateries called “maquis you can have Alloco, which is fried plantains , the best rotisserie chicken, attieke made with a type of yams and so on. If you go to ” Plateau “. Which considered the downtown area, you will see more expensive, fancy restaurants with French , European cuisine, gourmet , etc

Best place to stay for relaxation is Assinie, you will find many great hotels with swimming pool, private pool, views of the lagoon and sea view. Many activities are available, jet ski, kayak, massage, spa, manicure, sports … The food is just delicious, do not leave especially not without having eaten the aloco and the braised chicken, or the ribs of lambs, yum yum!
Do not forget your sunscreen and mosquito repellent.

    1) Biggest basilica in the whole world. lLocated in the city of Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast has the biggest Basilica of the entire world. Bigger than Saint Peter in Roma!
    2) Cocoa Plantation. This country is the first producer of cocoa in the entire world. Cocoa being the main raw material to make chocolate. So you have to visit a cocoa plantation once there. You will mostly find them in the South-West, Center and East part of the country
    3) Best food of the entire Africa (Alloco, Attiéké, Poulet Braisé, Sauce Arachide…)
