I went to school in Aix-en-Provence.. It is a small, classically Provençal town, Aix has a lot of high variety shopping considering its small size. Aix is one of my favorite city in France. It has everything you can imagine from a City in the South of France. It is a big University town with Students from all over the world and specially the U.S.A contributing to its lively nightlife and vibrant culture. Good hotels and great restaurants. Driving distance to Nice and Monte Carlo

The best lavender fields are located in the Provence region of France. As a result, Provence has become synonymous with Lavender. The ideal time to be enchanted by the beauty and fragrance of the lavenders is mid-June to mid-July when the lavenders are in full bloom.
For that reason, I ventured to Aix-en-Provence in early July to escape into the purple gloriousness. After a few days in Paris, I took the TGV bullet train from Paris Gare de Lyon to Aix-en-Provence TGV. The ride was about 3 hours. The train station is about 45 minutes From the city of Aix-en-Provence, but Uber taxis are there as well as a timely shuttle bus. I think the Uber cost €35. Aix is a small, vibrant town in the Provence that is famous for its markets, boutiques, music, arts and crafts, and of course its Lavenders. The tour I booked covered a vast of picturesque lavender fields in the Valensole area including the Lavendes Angelvin and Valsole Plateau. They were beyond breathtaking. Similar to the human flock to the region during this time, the lavenders are also flocked by bees. They were minding their own business though and were no threat. Many of the fields have other plants such as sunflowers with magnificent views. Other attractions in and around Aix-en-Provence include Lake of Sainte-Croix, a beautiful man-made lake that holds 761 million cubic metres of water. You should also visit Moustier-Sainte-Marie, known as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Aix-en-Provence is a perfect blend of exploration, beauty and charm and it definitely deserves a visit.
