Traveled to Guinea-Bissau with family and friends the beginning of Jan 2026. We started in The Gambia, then Senegal and ended oir West Africa travel in Bissau. Bissau had just had a coup, but once we arrived we saw no signs of it. The people are friendly and the food we had at Nô Kau, was so good we ate there 3 times. They have rice and chicken dishes with incredible vegetables and everything is fresh.

We stayed at the Bissau Royal Hotel while
In Bissau. It was clean, decent food and the A/C was good. It’s it far by walking to the Geba River.

We also stayed at Hotel Orango Parque to see baby sea turtles being born and wild Hippos on the same Island of Orango. The huts on the island were concrete with thatches rooves with bathroom and shower. You had to ask the manager at breakfast if you wanted hot water later in the day for a shower because they use solar power and generators.

I would recommend going to Guinea-Bissau.
