I visited a few different parts of Oregon doing photo shoots and video shoots for locals. I had heard so many different things about Oregon and was afraid to travel there for awhile. Luckily a friend of mine lives out there so I was able to stay with her and her family, so no hotel restrictions. I didn’t encounter any racism or anything like that, even tho it’s what I heard.
If you’re a Goonies fan visiting the sets of the movie is a must in Astoria, Oregon. Mikey’s home from the movie along with Data’s home next door are not open to the public but it didn’t stop me from riding by. They are occupied so I didn’t go onto either of the properties. But you can visit the Dads museum, the jail the Fratelli’s broke the brother out from is across the street from the museum. The Fratelli’s Jeep with bullet holes is parked in front of the jail and you can even take pics of yourself in the jail cell. You can visit the bowling Alley where chunk saw the Fratelli’s escaping and speeding by. They have Chunks pizza and milk shake smashed on the window of the bowling alley. And you can visit the beach across the bridge from Astoria, where the Fratelli’s jumped in an annual jeep race, which was a real race by the way! Also on that beach is the skeleton of the shipwreck Peter Iredale.
