*Let me start off by saying I had an unfair advantage because I’m fluent in French but I have a bit of an American accent so they could tell I didn’t live there anymore.

Cannes is absolutely beautiful but can be a bit pricey. I went for a weekend while staying in Paris and I recommend taking the train there (don’t try to drive from Paris, big mistake). I loved the food and would recommend eating at French places when in France. American common spots like McDonald’s KFC etc. are taxed heavy so it’s a lot more expensive everywhere in France. The beach is relaxing but the water is dirty (I hate dirty ocean water). Depending on your budget you can try to get a private beach, it’s more fun. I don’t care much about European history honestly so that’s that. Night life is very much David Guetta house music with a little pop here and there so that’s also that. People are walking the streets and having a good time out and about all night (Which is rare in France). Be careful what you wear and where you stand though because prostitution is a thing there (also in Casinos. Ladies get all dressed up and sit at the bar waiting for older men to approach them… if that’s your thing I’m not judging). It can be a cute couples destination if you’re in a relationship now but idk if I would try to find love there. It’s more of a party place for the young singles that are there.

Now, the important part. Locals can be a bit racist to black people but I think that’s in France in general. French people that don’t like black people is usually just towards black people that live in France because of their own political issues much like here. It’s hit or miss how you’ll be treated. Cannes is a pretty white town so some people will love you and want to have conversations with you in English because they love Americans and others will give you the cold shoulder because they think Americans are war loving crazy people. I wouldn’t let that discourage you from travelling there and having a good time. I never felt unsafe there.
