I lived in Douglasville for about a year. The houses were nice, and the locals were friendly. We went to a local family friendly bar in the shopping center next to Kroger and had an amazing time every time we went in. Even with people drinking, there was never any racial tensions.
I will say, if you are planning to go into Atlanta a lot, this is not the place to be. It’s a long trip to the city. It was exhausting trying to navigate the traffic going and coming. Plus the police are always looking for someone to lock up. The saying was if the cops come someone is going to jail, even if you called them.

Traveling While Black
The high noon brunchery is a Black owned business in downtown Douglassville, GA. This is one of several Black owned businesses fueling the opportunity zones in Georgia. The area includes lots of nature. However, a large portion of Douglassville includes an educated populace of Black professionals. There are many Black homeowners in this community. The high noon brunchery stays packed. The atmosphere is amazing. The food is top-notch. Some of the food includes grits, pancakes, waffles, and spicy sausage. The people running this spot are wonderful. They serve niche cocktails as well. You will love the decor and the service. I highly recommend.
