We stayed at The Oakes Hotel.
We had a beautiful view of the falls. The hotel was affordable, clean, and near most attractions. We were able to walk or take the bus to the attractions.
We were safe and will travel there again. It is a six hour drive from CT.

Traveling While Black
Traveling while black- 10/10: not once did I feel discomfort, bias, or judgement here for being a mixed race woman. Safe for women and solo female travelers as well. This trip took place in 2024. Friendly and accommodating people as long as you are also a decent tourist.
Cost: on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the cheapest and 5 being the most expensive, I’d say it’s a 2.5 for the average middle class couple from US cities.
Lodging/transportation: infinite options, but we chose a hotel. I absolutely loved our stay in the Hilton Fallsview. We used a rental car from home to Canada, and back, having a car is ideal if you plan to go beyond the Niagara Falls to other nearby towns or make the drive to Toronto. Depending on where you are, some spots are walkable.
Experiences: I do recommend a day tour, our travel agent booked us with Over the Falls tours for the American & Canadian side full day tour. There are also zipline tours, helicopter tours, and fireworks twice a week during the summer. There is also a nearby outlet mall at St. Catherine.
Food: A medley of options and cuisines whether its fast food, Indian food, Mediterranean, etc.

Traveling While Black
I spent a week there in June 2025. Great town. Several bed and breakfasts, wineries, shopping, parks, and a history museum. The even have Black history tour for the area. I will be returning this summer.

Traveling While Black
Had such a great time in Niagara Falls! The falls were absolutely amazing to see in person—so powerful and beautiful. There’s a lot to do nearby too, like boat tours, walking along the falls, fun restaurants, and cute little shops. It’s one of those places you’ve got to see at least once, and I’m really glad I went. Super chill and fun getaway!
