I’ve lived here all my life (20+ years) as a black woman. This is a very safe town and a quarter of our population is black. There’s plenty of gas stations, a Kroger, Walmart Supercenter, TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, Ross, etc. There’s not much to do here but it’s a good place to get supplies, food, or need to spend the night. As long as you don’t venture off to the outskirts or the backroads of Hopkinsville, you’re perfectly safe. I-65, I-24, Fort Campbell Blvd and 41A are your main roads and highways to get around. If you’re heading to Bowling Green, be careful driving on the 68 when it comes to the police. They are waiting to stop people and I’ve been stopped myself for speeding a little too much. You do not want to be stopped by an officer in Auburn or Elkton. If you have to take the 68, follow the speed limits, watch out for any semi trucks, and beware of any deer or rodents darting out into the road. Do not stop in Elkton, Russellville or Auburn. You can drive through Russellville but I personally wouldn’t stop there. Bowling Green is safe.
