Hawaii is one of those vacations that everyone dreams of and a few luck ones actually get to take. We were definitely the lucky ones this year. Our trip to Hawaii was planned in our minds for so long but making it reality would take expert planning. The first step in planning a trip to Hawaii is deciding which Islands to visit based on the number of vacation days you have. Each island is different and can afford you a completely different vacation. For starters, there are 8 Hawaii Islands but most tourist visits the main 6 Oahu,Maui, Kauai,Big Island, Lanai,Molokai. On our recent trip to Hawaii, we narrowed our adventures to Kauai and Maui.
Kauai is known as the Garden Island because of the lush tropical forest and surrounding valleys. Mountains and jagged cliffs adorned its landscaped along with rivers and multitudes of cascading waterfalls. Kauai is truly the definition of tropical paradise.
There is no short list of activities to do in Kauai. It’s the perfect playground for adventure seekers looking to hike the countless trails at Waimea Canyon and all around the island. Whether it is ziplining through the forest that interest you, horseback riding, chasing waterfalls, biking, surfing or just laidback day at the beach, all these activities are at your disposable.
Don’t miss out on seeing the Napali Coast.
Napali Coast is known for its beautiful sea cliffs that spans 5 valleys on the on the Northwest side of the island. It is only accessible by helicopter, boat, or an 11- mile hike. Whichever method you decide to use, don’t miss out on seeing the majestic cliffs used as one of the locations for Jurassic Park. We opted for a 6 -hour sunset dinner cruise on a caravan. The waters were very choppy going and everyone got wet with ocean spray. The sunset over the coast is truly beautiful and must be experienced.
Tip# The water near the cliffs is always choppy nobody which boating tour you take. Be sure to take motion sickness pills prior to boarding.
Lastly, one of the most important activity on your Hawaii trip is the luau.
Luaus are expensive, it’s important to research the best luau that fits your budget. Things to consider are the variety of food, the venue, the size of the luau, and reviews. Since we visited two Islands, we attended two luaus so we can have something to compare.
