Koh Rong island is so relaxing and peaceful. It is not heavily populated with locals nor tourist. I can probably count how many people I saw for the entire week I was there. The views remind you as to why you work so hard; it’s so you can have the luxury to see God’s amazingly beautiful creations! The sand is white and the water is clear and some parts teal blue. The weather was perfect for a stroll on the beach, laying by the pool, or on the balcony of your bungalow to read. There weren’t any panhandlers or locals trying to sell you things it was just PEACEFUL! This was my purpose of coming to the island but I didn’t think I would be as relaxing as it was. I wanted to escape my busy hustle and bustle city life and this definitely was the place for it. I went during the raining season so there were some rain/thunderstorms once or twice throughout the day but it didn’t last long and the sun was back out right after. Locals and staff were super friendly and no one bothered you but were only super helpful and catering. Wifi worked great but I didn’t want it as I locked all technology up in the safe of my bungalow. I slept, ate, read, explored and did a few excursions. This trip was strictly for relaxing and it over exceeded my expectations. I look forward to visiting again.

    CAMBODIA’S RELAXATION PARADISE

Every aspect of a perfect island for me Koh Rong had it.

A place to go and party with your friends, maybe a nice place to go with family and a beautiful place to take your partner for a romantic getaway… Koh Rong has it all.

We got a speedboat from Sihanoukville which cost around $25 return and stayed at Pura Vita resort which I would highly recommend not only for couples but for friends or families looking for somewhere to stay on the island. A beach bungalow costs around $30 dollars a night which I think is pretty good considering the location with the blue water and white sandy beach right in front of you. The food was quite expensive at the resort but there’s plenty of options nearby where you can eat a lot cheaper at bars and hostels along the beach.

This place was the perfect Christmas getaway whilst travelling. Something I loved about Koh Rong was the mixed variety of things to do. There are bars for travellers, more romantic bars for couples and there’s even places that have festivals on the beach which I attended one night and I had a great night. The night market was really cool where you can buy local food and drink, there is also a dive centre if you are into diving and snorkelling. If you are into more outdoor activities I met a couple of people that hiked right through the jungles around the island…

Overall I went to relax and this is what Koh Rong is perfect for lazy days on the beach over the festive period. As a black traveller on Koh Rong the people were very friendly and for the first time in Cambodia, I met a guy with dreadlocks as long as mine which was pretty cool to share stories with. I would recommend coconut beach, long set beach also known as 4k beach and lonely beach.

We took a night bus from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville (10 hours), then take a ferry to Koh Rong Island (around 45 minutes)

When you think of the beaches of Asia, it is Thailand, the Philippines or the island of Bali in Indonesia that often come to mind. Let me tell you that Cambodia has nothing to envy to its neighbors! Tourism is not yet mass as in Thailand, and you can enjoy the almost deserted paradise beaches, delicious cuisine and many water activities.

We stayed at Nice Beach Bungalows on Coconut beach, one of the cleanest beach on the island. It is also really peaceful and quiet; If you are looking for hectic nights, make sure you stay in Main Pier or another part of the island. Food at the hotel restaurant was really tasty and affordable, the owners were really helpful and arranged for us the renting of a personal boat for 90usd for a day. We were three girls so we had 2 “crew members” taking care of us the whole day, we went island hoping, fishing, snorkelling, we had bbq and unlimited flow of soft drinks and beers and were controlling the music on board as we pleased! let’s say we had an epic vip sensation day. After sunset, we were brought to a quiet spot where we could watch glowing plancton. just amazing.

We had a wonderful time on the island of Koh Rong, Coconut Beach, with its postcard decor and turquoise water more conducive to relaxation. Swimming in the turquoise waters, fishing, snorkeling, diving, massages etc. The nature is beautiful, the beaches are breathtaking and the atmosphere is quiet and really relaxing. A very nice way to enjoy the end of our holidays in Cambodia.

    Highly recommended
