    Traveling While Black

I went for a women’s golf trip. The scenery is beautiful. Some of the Spaniards and the immigrants who live there are rude. There are alot of Eastern and Western Europeans tourists who are also quite rude. One old couple followed me down the hall in the resort. And some of the staff will greet the old white guests and pass black guests. When I was going to one of the pools at my resort an African immigrant worker asked me if I was a guest. I stayed at the Don Carlos Resort in Marbella. There are alot of wealthy people who party in the city as well. There are alot of flea markets and Saturday markets where you can buy knick knacks and knock offs. It was fun because of my golf friends, but I won’t be returning.

Enjoyed my vacation in Malaga, Spain. Most people do not speak fluent English but I was able to communicate well enough. I enjoyed walking around, shopping and eating. I did not feel uncomfortable at all. Booked an apartment in Fuengirola, Spain via booking.com. The host was very polite and accommodating, he responded to questions without delay. Shop owners and restaurant staff members were very nice and attentive.

Malaga, Spain is a destination I would recommend. I felt safe here as a Black traveler and the hospitality my wife and I received was the best. There were no microagressions received by the locals. The food, drinks, and atmosphere has to be experienced!
