Day 8 of our road trip found us in Marion Arkansas. It’s just outside of Memphis and closer to West Memphis where we heard was a bit rough. We went to a local seafood restaurant. Seemed very popular in the area and filled up quickly. Had some basic appetizers and a salad. Everything was good but it was a pricey considering the various menu options they had, versus what we chose. Didn’t think it was worth the money so we left and tried something else the next day.
We stayed down the road from the restaurant at the KOA a campground off 55. People were nice and the campground had a lot of great amenities to include a pool, a game room and an on site restaurant. This is not the norm for many KOAs but a nice addition. Didn’t get to eat there because it was too late when We arrived. Missed the breakfast too, but everything looked good and economical on the menu. Only complaint about the area was the mosquitoes were terrible and wound up getting bitten all over. Was quite miserable after that but not because the place was bad just the uncomfortable itching was more than we could bare. If you looking for a great family -place to stay this was a good place. Although he majority of the guests were non Black, everyone was very nice and seemed to legitimately being having fun. I highly suggest staying in a camper or cabin versus tent camping to avoid the bugs if you do happen to go there.
As far as the black experience, there was plenty to do just towns away and our experience was it was very black friendly
