So I solo traveled through Ecuador for about a month and a half. At 22 years old i was looking for safe outdoor activities that were easily accessible from the city of quito. My top recommendation to be able to explore the rainforest is to either visit Mindo cloud forest or Banos rainforest. Each accessible by bus and have great accommodations if you want to spend a few days there. In both places i had the opportunity to hike waterfalls, do white water rafting, zip lining , giant swings, and most importantly jaw dropping views everywhere around me. I Ecuador has a lot to offer and i felt very safe as a black solo traveler. One helpful tip i’d give is to explore isla del platos or also called poor man’s Galapagos. Along the coast of the country youll be able to do a day trip to the island and get to experience all the Galapagos Islands have to offer for a much lower cost!
