I live here. I have been here for over a decade. This town is not friendly to outsiders, especially POC. We had a family friend who had a child who was half black and white. While she was at school a father who’s kid was calling her the N-Word. She ended up pulling her kid out of the school because the parents didn’t feel their kid was in the wrong. Needless to say. I am Native American. I grew up immune to it? So I brush it off. The racism itself is mostly ignorance. Lots of friendly folk? But lots of racists too.
