Before the new highway was built to get to Fayetteville from Greensboro, I used to have to drive through small towns often to visit my family while I attended NC A&T SU. I had driven through Pittsboro a few times but there was one time I actually stopped for gas. As I stepped out of the car an older white man told me that I needed to leave immediately if I wanted to get to my destination safe “cuz clearly you ain’t from round here”. He said if I have enough gas to make it another 5 miles then do that. I did as he suggested and as I left I saw a bunch of ppl come out of the gas station looking confused and angry as well as multiple confederate flags in ppls yards while driving through the town. With that said this happened almost 10 years ago but Pittsboro is very much still a sundown town so please stay away!
