I spent six days in Stuttgart, Germany. I stayed at Hotel Flora, a charming small hotel. My room was spacious and clean, if not fancy. It snowed so I didn’t use the small patio. Breakfast was served buffet style with hot and cold options. Sunday, if you didn’t get there early, you didn’t get food (lots of people grabbing breakfast before checking out) but there was no crowd the other days. Breakfast was extra. Public transportation was easy to use. The ticket machines have an option to display instructions in English. A day trip to Heidelberg to see the castle ruins didn’t require much advance planning, just a ride on the light rail to the main train station in Stuttgart and then a train to Heidelberg. Heidelberg and Stuttgart’s city center offered plenty of dining options. I was surprised at the amount of indoor cigarette smoking. Otherwise, I enjoyed my trip and would return.

Traveling While Black
Stuttgart is a major city in Germany, with a U.S. military base in its vicinity, you won’t see many Black people around but over all not an issue, the locals can be rude but that is due to you not knowing German and there personality but they are helpful and friendly in other ways. You don’t have to worry about much crime and if you lose something they will turn it it without the worry of something being taken.
