I did a solo trip to Phuket for a week. I was looking for somewhere to relax by the pool with a good book, watch the sun rise and set, do yoga and still have the nightlife and adventure of Phuket available. If you are too then I would recommend staying in Amatara Wellness Resort. It's an all inclusive resort located in Cape Panwa, a little pricey but worth it. The hotel provides free return transportation into various tourists spots daily. The staff are very friendly and the views are amazing. There are local restaurants and beaches just 10 minutes walk away from the hotel, from there you can take a 30min boat ride to small island for snorkelling.

Bali is one of the most beautiful and cultured place I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. There’s a lot of things to do in Bali, you’ll never have to worry about being bored. My only worry was not having enough time to do more. Saying that, I was in Bali for a week! This is absolutely not long enough to enjoy Bali but I got a taste and now I can’t wait to go back. A few things I would advise while in Bali: 1) Transportation - make sure to download the “Grab” or “Go Jek” app these are great, cheaper and very easy to use. You can choose to pay cash or card on the app. If you do find yourself in a normal taxi or bike, make sure you agree on a price before you accept the ride. From my experience they will over charge you at the destination and get quite aggressive if you question it. 2) Data - if you’re anything like me then data and maintaining connectivity is a big thing. In which case I’d suggest buying a SIM card from the airport, it’s about 250 Rupiah which is roughly $18/£14 for one week unlimited data. If you’re staying longer there are other price plans. 3) General - As a black woman/man be prepared for a lot of staring (especially in groups) and people taking pictures/videos of you. Some will ask your permission but most won’t. - Be prepared to eat a lot of rice, it tastes amazing. It’s what they’re known for but it can be a lot. - Leave early for tours, it’s hard waking up but it’s worth it. Even in low season (March when I went) it gets very busy and the wait to do things can be exhausting.
