A Little About Me:
- I’m 21 years old and live in Sweden, but I have a black background my parents are originally from Eritrea in east Africa. I study digital marketing and loves to travel mostly around Asia. When I travel I like to combine budget, luxury and adventure because I like all those things equally lol.
Eritrea, Asmara is most known as the small country near Ethiopia. But it has a rich history. Its was colonized by Italy so the architecture have been ifluenced by italian style. And some of the older locals are fluent in italian. If you go outside of Asmara to massawa in the coast is a old town and a historical important port for many centuries, it was ruled by the Aksumite Empire, Abyssinia and the Ottoman Empire. One thing that is good to know is that traveling to Eritrea can be hard sometimes when getting your visa application approved, so thats something to have back in your mind. Also the country is not super developed when it comes to turism, so to find like tour groups and stuff like that can be hard.
Tokyo is hands down definitely one of my favorite destinations and i will go back soon. There are so many things to do in Tokyo, the first place that you have to visit that will leave your mind blown away is Teamlab-borderless! Its an amazing art museum and a heaven for instagrammers, you can take some amazing pictures there and the experience over all is amazing! Its a must see! (Tip is to book tickets in advance & try to visit early morning or in the evening so you can avoid the crowd, the tickets cost like 30-35 US dollars) Next place you have to visit in Tokyo is the Japanese shrines (Hie Shrine!) that looks like the ones in kyoto but even better and less crowded. A must see place if you want to get those amazing shrine pictures. You can not visit tokyo without visiting sensoji temple. But keep in mind that it will be crowded, so its maybe better to visit early in the morning or late evening. If you want to see Tokyo from an eye perspective you have to go to Metropolitan Government Building, its free to go to the observation deck and the view is amazing, i went one hour before the sunset and the view was amazing! Next thing you must do is to drive the Mario karts och drive around downtown tokyo. But this activity requires that you have an international driving license, so keep that in mind. If you like bright lights you should visit kabukicho in shinjuku, its like tokyos red district, but i did not find it inappropriate, on the outside it was just a cool street with bright lights. If you like shopping you have to visit Ginza, its like a shopping street, they have everything from budget shops like Uniqlo and H&M to more high end shops like Prada and Gucci. Next place i have to recommend is going to magnet by shibuya109 its a shopping center with many floors and you can go to the top flor and see an amazing view of the shibuya crossing, while you are there you should also try Fatburger its a Japanese restaurant and the burgers were actually really good. Last place is harajuku, takeshita street its a street with loads of cool foods and some weird stuff they also have some cool souvenirs. One good shop where you can buy japanese stuff for a low price is Don Quijote! They have literally everything and its pretty cheap to!
Nerja is the one destination that i like the least that I have been to. Mostly because its a small "city" in southern Spain and that means that you will most likely be the only black one in the whole city. That leads to that the people there are not used to seeing black people and can be a bit racist. I went there with my black friends and we were very uncomfortable and the people just couldnt stop stare at us lol. The small city is beautiful but i would not recommend black people going there not only because its only white old people there but also because the food there was horrible, I know its not relevant but its important to eat good food, and you will not find it there Lol. Also the nightlife there was shit, and i think its because the majority there are old people. Everything was closed at like 9 pm. The only thing thats was open were one shisha/hookah place. So if you are considering going to Nerja, think twice unless you want to be surrounded by old white people and eat unseasoned food lol.
The thing I loved the most with Malaysia was definitely the local food!! The food was sooo affordable and delicious and you could find fresh fruit everywhere. I also loved how the food in more luxurious restaurants was very affordable and delicious. One of the more luxurious restaurants we tried was atmosphere 360, it’s a restaurant on the top the KL-tower which is worlds 6th tallest tower. We ate at the buffet and the price for 2 people was about 220 MYR which is like 52 american dollars. But nothing tops the local street food so I would encourage everyone to not be picky like I am and just try all kinds of street food. The food varies between traditional Malay food , Indian food and Thai food so you will definitely find something in your taste! You could get a portion of noodles or fried rice with chicken for like 1 dollar and freshly cutted mangos for 1-2 dollars.
My experience with being a black traveler in Singapore was good, I never felt uncomfortable or anything like that and the people was very friendly and everyone had really good English so it was easy to communicate with the local people.
Bali is a very very affordable place to travel to. Based by your personal budget you can get a lot for your moneys worth. Everything from accommodation, activities and food. You’ll definitely find something that goes with your budget. The cost of accommodation I would say you will get the most value for your money. We stayed and different places and the luxury varies betweed the villas we stayed in. For the first nights we spent at a 3 room villa with a private pool, own kitchen 2 big bathrooms and a security in the famous area changgu. And that villa cost approximately 200$ for 3 nights. When it comes to activities some were more on the pricey side thank others, for example the famous Bali swing. We payed about 40$ dollars, for unlimited time on the swings. We also scuba dived in Nusa Lembongan. And that was our most expensive experience but it’s still very cheap if you compare it with the price in other countries. We payed 170$. And that included pickup in the morning from our villa, snacks on the boat, a private instructor, lunch after the dive. And we went with the company “Siren Diving”. When it comes to food in Bali I thought there would be more street food options it was mostly restaurants. And you could find really good restaurants with both Indonesian cuisine and western cuisine. The food range varied between 2-20$. Our favourite beach club with amazing food was “The lawn”. We payed about 25-30 $ for our food for 2 people and mock tails. It’s on the pricey side but definitely worth your money. Food at local restaurants could vary from 1-4 $ for a basic Indonesian dish like nasi goreng.
