There’s just so much I can say but idk where to begin. I have not been to a island/country/territory that gives you every single thing you are looking for... Rainforest, Volcanoes, Rugged Terrain, Beach Vibes, City Life, Local living. If you are looking for the entire package (options), Costa Rica has got to be your pick. Not to mention the people are loving and kind. Btw, give yourself time, you’re going to need lots of time to fully explore what Costa Rica has to offer. I did the atv tour with adventures and the wonderful tour guide Diego who rode us up and down the mountains and they the rural areas of Costa Rica. We stopped off at the beach for a quick dip and headed back to our resort. The ATV tours was $75 pp. I did a tour with Blue sky private tour, and the best tour guide Carlos who brought us to Rincón de la Vieja volcano in Liberia. For 80 pp we did the sulphur bath, hot springs, waterfalls and free lunch. For 100 you can do all that plus horse back riding, zip lining and waterpark. It’s all on the premises. I also stayed at the Riu palace which was beautiful. The landscape and amenities are what you paid for and more. The added bonus is the staff, they are friendly and kind and always willing to make sure you have the best time possible. When you stay at the Riu palace, you also have access to all the amenities at Riu guanacaste which right down the hill. We went out to playa de coco which is about a 20 minute drive (15 depending on who your driver is, they drive fast lol). Therre you can visit all the restaurants and bars and try all the local foods. One thing I have to say about Costa Ricans, many of them love reggae music and hip hop which is a bonus coming from a Jamerican (Jamaican-American).
Lisbon is a beautiful city! The people are so humbled. They love their chill, laid back lifestyle, and I found them to be very friendly and informative, even in many cases where they didn’t speak much English. If you are relatively good at spanish you can maneuver your way thru Portuguese in Lisbon. I visited the city of Cintra. The city remain untouched. There I visited the castle of the moors. You can climb to the very top of the castle and catch the most amazing view ever. The food in Cintra is amazing. I ate at Tascantiga restaurant! I stayed at HF Fenix hotel which is about 130 per night. I love the feel of that hotel. Each room represents a genre of music. They have a music studio where you can pretend to be a rockstar lol. They also have a roof top pool and a roof top bar with a city view that is amazing, especially in the summer time. The rooms are fairly compact but just right for 2. Lisbon is definitely an authentic city to see.
Phuket is a must see. I am from the Caribbean (Jamaica) and I was stunned while visiting Phuket. I stayed at the Wyndham resort which is about 10 minutes Tuk Tuk ride to Patong beach where all the fun is. The resort is beautiful and you have many choices of Villa styles to choose from. On Patong beach you can eat, party, get massages for cheap! You can get a full body massage for about 5–10 American dollars. While in Phuket you can visit animal sanctuaries, atv rides, but my favorite excursion was the tournofnthenphuket islands. For about $80 you have the choice to pick multiple islands. My favorite was Maya Bay where Leonardo Di Caprio “The beach was shot”. James Bond Island is definitely a sexy island. You get to snorkel while there and swim in the gorgeous blue lagoon. The night life on Patong beach definitely keeps going all night. You can see just about anything, and I mean anything at the sexy show.
Curaçao is a beautiful island, from the moment you fly into curaçao everything pops! The houses are filled with color and brings this vibrant vibe. I took the helicopter tour of the island for my birthday. It was the most amazing view of an island. It was roughly 300 per hours. I stayed at the sunscape resort which is all inclusive. Has plenty amenities and restaurants while on the property. It’s in walking distance of Starbucks and a shopping center where they host many parties. The people are awesome, many of them speak about 5 languages, English, Dutch, Papiamento (local) spanish and french. I wouldn’t say it’s a really upbeat island but it’s definitely things to do as well as peace, quiet and romance. P.s. the beach is everyyything.
