Ate a restaurant in Montclair. It’s a small city from what I can see but historically it’s a great place for Black people, and actually one of the best places in recent times. Definitely pricey to live there but can be considered a chill-low key oasis.
Ehh yo, this spot Coconut Jacks is AMAZING! They don’t take reservations and it’s like they can dang near seat 300-400 people and they stay packed, especially on weekends. I was surprised they and this much flavor. From the calamari($15), coconut shrimp ($19) and I got the blackened trio (grouper, shrimp, scallops) with rices and veggies (~$40). It’s not cheap but it’s good! Also got me a cucumber tahini drink with Hendricks and vodka and that was good. Just call a head to see about the wait.
I added a picture but I was half way through my meal lol
Knowing that the “Unite the Right" rally was organized in Charlottesville is enough to make me question if I should stop in this city much less visit. I can only imagine what locals, business owners etc must be thinking if that many white supremacist showed up in Charlottesville to protest the removal of confederate statutes.
