Istanbul is a busy, chaotic city filled with so much history. It is advisable to visit during the off season to avoid standing in long queues. We stayed at Sultanahmet to be in the center of it all. Prior to traveling to Istanbul, we read and heard about how the taxi drivers can rip you off so we avoided taking any. We visited the grand bazaar, the blue mosque and hopped on the big red bus for a city tour. We also did a boat cruise to see both the Europe and Asia side (would highly recommend).
Overall, Istanbul Is a city filled with so many history, beautiful landscapes and culture. I personally didn’t enjoy instabul as much as we visited during the peak time, the roads and trams were packed with people. If you can, I’d recommend taking a day trip to Pamukkale, it was definitely worth it.
I have to say so far India has been the least of my favourite country to visit. We were only there for two days and it felt longer as I couldn’t wait to leave. My experience was not the best, starting from the airport the immigration officer was so rude. He had my passport and my visa with him and was asking me questions in Hindi. I told him I speak English and not Hindi or Urdu, he made a statement in his language to his colleagues and they were both laughing. Eventually he handed my passport back to me. We stayed at the Shangri la hotel in New Delhi, It was in a descent area with other hotels nearby. In the evening time around 6pm, we decided to go for a walk. We were followed by several men on the streets trying to give us a ride, One particular guy kept following us and making calls after we told him to leave us alone. it was the most unsafe I’ve ever felt while traveling. Immediately we changed our mind and went back to the hotel. We were later informed by the driver that women get raped a lot around the area and it was unsafe to walk after 4pm. Visiting the Taj Mahal was not a pleasant experience, It was overcrowded and we were constantly starred at, every attempt to take a picture you have a audience of people just watching you. I was so glad to get on the plane on the last day and leave.
Cappadocia is one of the places on earth one must visit at least one. It is like living in a fairytale. We spent 3 days which was enough to visit all the tourist attractions. We arranged a pick up driver via the hotel (Artemis cave suites). The hotel has an amazing balcony view to watch the hot air ballon in the morning. We didn’t book any tours via the hotel as compared to external source, it was more expensive. Right outside the hotel, there was a tour guide agent, we booked through him with better deal. On the first day, we rode on a quad bike through the valleys of gerome to watch the beautiful sunset. The following day, we woke up very early to go on a hot air ballon, it was a surreal experience. I’d recommend it to people to at least try it once. After the hot air ballon, we spent the afternoon visiting the very infamous Galerie Ikram for that Instagram worthy picture. Bare in mind that you have to pay a little token to take a picture as it is a carpet shop. The last day we did a green tour which takes you on a tour around cappadocia. If you are a Christian, you will be excited to find out that cappadocia is filled with so many biblical history that you will learn on the tour. Overall, I enjoyed cappadocia, there’s lots to do but 3days is more than enough. I highly recommend it!!
Singapore has definitely top the list of my favorite country to visit. I travelled with my friend and we stayed for 4 days in four points by Sheraton, it is located in Robertson quay so it was right in the middle of all tourist attraction. I’ve always heard that Singapore was expensive but that was not my experience, compared to Dubai it was way cheaper. The average we would spend on taxi was 12 Singapore dollars which is less than 10 US dollar. There’s so much to do from visiting the Beautiful gardens by the bay to exploring marina bay mall, visiting little India and Chinatown and of course the universal studio is a must visit. As a vegan, I had the best meal ever, there’s a lot of vegan restaurants but my favorite was (the bowl co) in Chinatown. Traveling while black was a different experience, no one stared or asked where you from. Everyone minds their business. It was really refreshing to see blacks, white and Asians just living together peacefully and every one just gets along. I definitely see myself going back in the near future.
Vietnam is a very beautiful country, filled with nature and amazing landscape. We spent 4 days. On arrival, we got picked up by our driver who had amazing reviews on trip advisor. He drove us to our resort which was located in Ninh binh from Hanoi which was approximately 2hrs 30min. We hired him as our driver thorough out the stay which costs 175usd for 3 days, which includes daily tours with entry tickets , lunch and tour guide. Each day we visited 3 to 4 tourist sites. +84 98 889 52 66 (toan) that’s his number. Vietnam is trully a beautiful country and very cheap, people are quite pleasant. Traveling while black was very refreshing as no one stares and everyone minds their business. I would definitely go back to visit other parts of the country.
Jordan is definitely a country I will highly recommend. If you are the adventurous type, there’s a lot to do from climbing mountains in Petra to discovering the movie set of Lawrence of Arabia in wadi rum. If you’ll rather chill and relax, the movenpick resort at the Dead Sea is the place for you. On arriving to Jordan, we were picked up by our driver who drove us off to jerrash & Amman Citadel where we explored the ancient civilization from the Roman Empire in the Middle East.
Day 2- on our way to Petra, we stopped by Mountain Nebo, Madaba to visit the site where Moses looked over to the promised land ( a must see for the religious ones). On arriving to Petra, it was like going back in time with the donkey rides and caves. It felt like a scene with Khaleesi for the game of thrones fans. Petra is a world of its own, If you are a black woman, be prepared to be called “brown sugar” by the locals trying to get your attention as they attempt to sell you stuff. The Jordanian currency is quite strong, so things are quite expensive. It cost 10 us dollars to ride the camel for 2mins. Make sure you bargain, never go with the first price. Everyone will try to get money from you. Do go with your cormfortable shoes as there is a lot mountain climbing and walking, Petra is Huge if you are interested in exploring it all. On day 3, we headed down to wadi rum where I experienced life on Mars, stayed in a overnight Martian like experience hotel. The hotel organized a safari desert trip where the tour guide takes you to the perfect location to get the most amazing desert pictures. On the last day we spent our day on the beach at the Dead Sea, the Dead Sea mud is the truth. It left my skin feeling like butter, I definitely couldn’t resist buying some Dead Sea products at the factory. The trip was definitely one that I’ll always remember, the jourdanians and their hospitality will definitely be unforgettable.
