There are so many things to do in Miami! But before you go, it’s important to know where you’re staying. My group and I pulled up to an Airbnb in the design district and the people around us (mostly white Cubans) were not pleased with our presence and made it known. We went to another property a few minutes walking away and had no issues. Tip: Research the area you’re considering; Consider finding ways to indicate your interest in Black-owned restaurants or something that may indicate how you identify (if it’s not clear to the hosts) just to gauge the interaction before you book. Once you find a place to stay that feels physically and psychologically safe, there are a plethora of fun places to go and things to do. For low frills fun, we went to a bar called Gramps. We also brunched at Tap 42. We spent some time in little Haiti at a yoga-inspired class. We also checked out some of the Black owned restaurants, like Red Rooster Overtown.
