I went back the Kuala Lumpur for the second time this year as the first time around I didn’t get a chance to take in much of the sights and I probably won’t visit again. KL is definitely not my favourite city you can probably see all the city has to offer with a day or 2. We visited the Petronas Twin Towers and wondered around the mall inside. The national mosque is also something I would recommend, check the tourist visiting hours before going if you are a non Muslim. Batu caves is also worth a visit although once you climb the steps there isn’t really much to see at the top, be warned the monkeys will try and steal from you. Don’t just visit KL if your going to Malaysia, as a country it has so much more to offer than KL.
Bali is one of my fave places, I went back for the second time this year. Spent a couple days in Canggu, it has lots of cool restaurants and bars. I stayed at the “farm hostel” £10 a night, great hostel with two pools and the staff was great. Moved on to Ubud and stayed at Puri Gardens hostel which was £12 for dorm rooms again another lovely hostel, did a tour with them that took us to the rice terrace, a school, waterfalls and coffee tasting which I believe was only 200 IDR for a full day of activities. The monkey forest is also a must whilst in Ubud and was located right around the corner from my hostel. I then moved on to Uluwatu, which is quite spread out so I would suggest renting a bike for the day and exploring all the different beaches, dreamland beach is favourite of mines. Finally make sure you check out all 3 Nusa islands, Lembongan, Penida and Ceningan. So many amazing beaches on each island.
Hong Kong is truly expensive compared to the rest of Asia, I consider myself a budget traveller/backpacker. I stayed at rainbow lodge hostel, which wasn’t the greatest hostel I’ve stayed at but as I was out exploring the majority of the day I just needed somewhere to lay my head at night. It was £18 a night for a 10 bed dorm - wasn’t great for the price but it is Hong Kong after all. I did a 2 and a half hour free walking tour on Hong Kong island, which was a great way to learn about the history of Hong Kong whilst taking in the sights. Although the tour was free a tip for the guide is recommended, the company is called “hongkongfreetours”. We also& went to see “Big Buddha” we took a half hour train ride on the subway to Tung Chung and then the cable car up to the Buddha, the cable car coast 235 HKD. I believe you can get a bus up which would be cheaper but that takes a couple hours. Victoria peak is also a must but timing the weather so you get a good view is a bit of struggle 54HKD for a round trip on the tram. We found a couple good places to eat on Wellington street Maks noodles was great and also a Michelin star restaurant without the price tag you expect from a Michelin star restaurant. I would probably say I spent just over £200 for food, accommodation and transportation around the city on my four day trip to Hong Kong.
