Rio is a must for US to visit! It’s beauty, laid back vibe and history makes placed it as one of my favorite spots in the world.
Things to Do:
If you’re into touristy site seeing ventures then Rio is a move. The guided tours at the Christ the Redeemer statue was interesting and eye opening. It’s also simply beautiful to take in Rio as you ride up their lift. It’s reasonably priced and there aren’t long waits. Be prepared to become creative with your picture taking. It’s hard to get a good one once you’re up at the top.
Jordim Botanical Gardens: it speaks to tranquility. It’s by far one of the most serene botanical gardens I’ve visited. It’s roughly $5.00 USD and there’s a really good restaurant on site.
The beaches of course are beautiful and there are some additional hidden treasures. Locals mentioned to be aware of crime. However, I never felt unsafe. Enjoy!
Iceland was by far one of my favorite places to ever visit! Between the numerous activities and overall vibe it’s a place like no other.
Blue Lagoon
It’s legit a world wonder! Literally it’s worth traveling to Iceland alone. Make sure to book your tickets on their site well in advance because there’s typically a month long hold. Specifically, during the weekends. They run on hourly spots. Also, make sure to note that it’s in the middle of no where do it’s best to book a charter bus route.
Adventure
Golden Triangle: Renting a car and simply riding around to see the beauty of the golden triangle is a day long venture within itself. I was there during their longest day long solstice in June so if you’re able to boom during that time go for it.
Traveling While Black
I didn’t feel unsafe. However, microagressions are real. Apparently I was there with my friends during their annual summer solstice concert. At said concert Gucci Mane was there and performing, visiting all of the venues that my friends and I visited at that time. So of course, we have a number of people stop and ask, “Are you Gucci Man?” (insert side eye).
The food is ok! However, if you’re looking for adventure and relaxation make sure to hit up Iceland.
I’ve never felt so unsafe as a black man in any other country in comparison to Greece. I was literally followed in the streets. I was also approached as a drug dealer. I would not recommend Athens to anyone.
Joburg is by far my favorite place in the world. I hadn’t the opportunity to spend time in Soweto. I strongly encourage that you leave the city area and experience the beauty of Joburg in one of the most historic and iconic places.

There are so many wonderful museums, beach life and night clubs. Check it out for sure!
