Iceland was surprisingly one of my favorite trips. Obviously deals on WOW airlines are hard to pass up, so even if you are traveling for a couple days, I say do it. The flight is only about 6 hours from NYC. There is no secret that there aren’t many black people in Iceland, but don’t let that steer you away. My girlfriend and I traveled there and felt very comfortable. We went to the Blue Lagoon and did not know anyone but left with about 8 new friends (all black). Some things to keep in mind: -Book your Blue Lagoon visit in advance (cheaper in advance)…the Blue Lagoon is amazing for pictures but the pictures still don’t do it justice, its something you have to experience in person. The water feels amazingly warm even though it was freezing outside. Do not however eat at the restaurant in the blue lagoon. Meals cost about $50 per person -The food prices are comparable to NY food prices -They have their own currency, so if you are on a Euro trip and convert all your dollars to euros, they will not accept them -It doesn’t get dark until around 10-11pm (At least in the summer which we visited) -Its still cold even in the summer. The high was 50 degrees when we visited in August -Rent a car, everything is so spread out in the city and we would have not been able to see as much as we did without a car. Hope this information is helpful!
The beautiful city of Barcelona is one filled with culture, sceneries, friendly people and of course Barcelona FC. Antoni Gaudi was an architect in the 1800's and his masterpieces are spread across the city and a sight to behold. La Sagrada Familia is my favorite (make sure you pay to get in), its funny how this building is still uncompleted for more than 100 years and still undergoing construction, but trust me when I say it is BEAUTIFUL! Casa Mila and Casa Batlio are notable mentions, these buildings are known for being different in a visually pleasing type of way. All curves and chamfered edges you can feel the history when looking at these pieces. This is a great tourist destination. If you have time time go watch Leonel Messi (one of the greatest soccer players) play before he retires.
This was my first solo trip and it was the best trip of my life! Before going to Guatemala, all I got was funny / concerned faces. "Where the hell is that" , "what are doing there" , "its dangerous to go there" , but when I got there these same people wanted to know every little part of my itinerary. This is the most underrated country I've been to. Lush Atitlan had a staff pick me at the dock called Posada Schumann and I made my way to the beautiful lush hotel. I checked into the honeymoon suite and it had some of the most beautiful views of lake Atitlan I have ever seen. Lake Atitlan is beautiful. It is one of the most serene and idyllic places, straight from a storybook. My mornings were quiet and spent taking in the views and being one with nature. If there’s any place where nature SCREAMS out loud Next site is the Tzampoc Resort, the biggest draw was the infinity pool overlooking the lake. Absolutely breathtaking! there are only 6-8 rooms in the entire property, you are very secluded and have a butler. Talk about living lavish for cheap!
